From the parking area by the cattle grid on the Stow - Lauder road. The stone next to a trough by the roadside north of the wood seems to be the replaced Waterin' Stane, which features in Lauder Common ridings. It is easy to cross the walls at the end of the wood and follow the gently rising track to the summit.Nick Down131/08/2023

Same parking as everyone else. Took a long time to get round to this Marilyn, but it was very easy. 35 minutes, 20 to the top and 15 to get back down.Jhimmy12/07/2022
Same route as Winterfloodian. Very dry under foot. 1.75 miles very easy going, round trip under 45 mins.JulieB14/06/2022
Same route as Winterfloodian recorded yesterday. The gate at just up the road in the western side of the wood was very handy for gaining access to the fields which were full of sheep and lambs. 45 minutes there and back. A very windy day. I had climbed Meagle Hill earlier in the afternoon.KevPalmer13/05/2022
Parked beyond cattle grid. Through western edge of wood to small gate (tied up with string) into field. Up to large gate then followed sheep tracks to the summit.Winterfloodian12/05/2022
Parked on the B6362 at the cowgate, over the wall and through the field of sheep to the trig.JAdair9721/04/2022

Third hill of the day. Parked by cattle grid, crossed rough grass to climb wall and tangled wire. An ATV track through the middle of the field makes it easy going to the top.the pigguy 21/03/2022

Plenty of parking at the cattle grid to the north of the hill. Walked downhill and through the woods to a gate into the field. Followed fence around the pond to a gate. Through gate and uphill on a good grassy track to the summit. Solo.Dangerous Dave04/11/2021
Off road parking available at cattle grid as others have described. With J on a windy & showery day, followed E side of wood to four fence/wall junction. Easily crossed diagonally, then continued southwards on W side of fence to summit. Back by the same route & on to Meigle Hill.NotReallyABagger07/10/2021

A pleasant stroll from the cattle grid, with nice views. Rather than walking west along the road to get to the gate (a bit suicidal), it's better to go up slightly into the woods and follow animal tracks parallel to the road, which lead to a small gate into the field. ATV tracks and sheep tracks then lead to the top.Gill08/02/2018
Took advantage of a lull in the bad weather for a day trip by train to Stow. Walked up the minor road to the SW and S of the hill. Quite pleasant as there is very little vehicular traffic. At NT477432 went through a gate and up to the summit of Sell Moor Hill. Only one intervening wall where there is a conveniently placed pedestrian gate. Back more or less same way.pwbellarby30/01/2018

1/3 short walk from high point on road to north. Useful large Layby but strangely full of farmers building or doing something to drainage..round side of woods to wall/fence. Cross into west field then up to summit trigN.Morters24/06/2017
Train to Stow. Walked up very quiet minor road to w and SW of hill. A small path leads from a stile near entrance to Allanshaws, where road bends slightly right, next to first wind turbine. This path leads almost to top which is just before a wood on the right. Did this on a day of driving rain and mist. Returned same way.trimarc206/06/2017

Whilst staying with the Outlaws for the weekend. Met Bob in Stow. Ascended via path through trees (unofficial mtb trail) starting at NT462444. Continued along edge of trees (following fence/wall)then through trees via tree break running along fence-line (NT476444) to continue a more or less direct ascent towards the summit. Returned via B6362/Muirhouse farm; don't recommend this return route as the B road is fast/narrow. Try descending towards the C (yellow) road to the south if you prefer a circular route back to Stow.raffemeister14/08/2016

Parked at 464451 (to get 150m climb) (05:50). Up road to corner of wood at 479455, over fence (no gate), S to gap in wall and track. Dry but mist; cows loomed in field but fortunately not at trig (6:30). Back same route; finish 7:05.dbb13/06/2016
From cattle grid on B6362. From Tanwell wall corner probably best to keep to the west side of the wall for a clear route to the summit without the need to climb fences. 20 minutes to reach the trig from the road.G4OBK (Phil)17/05/2016
