Hang Gill - Swatte Fell - Hart Fell - Saddle Yoke round.twg2701/04/2019
The Blackhope Round on a day of brilliant blue skies and frost: a superb and memorable day. CW from Blackhope Cottage: Nether Coomb Craig, Swatte Fell (with its reticent summit cairn immediately west of the ruined wall), Falcon Craig, Hart Fell, Under Saddle Yoke and Saddle Yoke.Nick Down102/01/2019
Solo from P at Blackshope Cottage up steeply by Hang Gill burn onto Black Craig, Nether Coomb Craig, Swatte Fell (both putative summits) and Falcon Craig; returned by reversing this route. Weather was fine, at times warm with light W wind. Climb up and down by Hang Gill was rather steep, slippy and wet through decaying bracken. First visit to HF was also solo and by the same route on 24/03/2004.jacobus15/10/2018

The Hart Fell heart-shaped horseshoe to White Coomb. Started at Blackhope, up to Swatte Fell then Hart Fell, Under Saddle Yoke & White Coomb then back to the start. Included the Donald tops en route during the long, tough and often pathless hike but it was still a grand day out with good views.Chris Mac22/09/2018

Parked at Capplegill (at valley track junction with road). Through gates on East side of Hang Gill and up to Black Craig where a fox was spotted. Continued to Hart Fell which required crampons for final slopes. Continued round to Saddle Yoke and down to the valley track at the field gate. A fine winter tramp in cold but sunny conditions.mindlessflogger24/02/2016
A701, Annanhead Hill, Great Hill, Chalk Rig Edge, Whitehope Heights, Whitehope Knowe, Hart Fell, Arthur's Seat, Newton Fell, descended into the fog to find Hartfell Spa, struggled down valley to minor road.tim74703/11/2015

Second ascent on way from Falcon Craig to Under Saddle YokeNormanW29/06/2015
Epic 9 mountain walk, parked nearby Capelgill walked along the not very busy main road to Carrifran farm, bagged Carrifran Gans, White Coomb, Firthhope Rig, through the boggy Rotten Bottom, up to Under Saddle Yoke, and the lower Saddle Yoke, forded the burn up onto Hart Fell, Falcon Craig, Swatte Fell and Nether Coomb Craig picking a steep route back down to Capelgill, fantastic walk in fantastic weather.DanTrig12/06/2015
Fourth hill of Eight on a linear route from the Grey Mare's tail car park to Moffat and climbed up on the path alongside the waterfall and then crossed over the tail burn to climb Upper Tarnberry, followed by White Coomb and Firthhope Rig. Conditions starting were fair but gradually deteriorated to driving rain and wind and then it became a real challenge of navigating in the mist. I went wrong somewhere between Firthhope Rig and had to backtrack to the intersection of two fences to identify exact position. Route went past Hartfell Rig and then to Trig and shelter. Did not dwell due to windchill! Route continued to Falcon Craig.Dazingdale12/05/2015

Parked by the Community Hall (green hut) in Upper Annandale (NT07515 10330) – Took waymarked path towards Hartfell Spa for about 1¼km & then headed up to the SW ridge – Excellent 4x4 track along the ridge all the way to the summit. (PM)gerrybowes21/04/2015
Continuation of walk from Under Saddle Yoke. Headed down to basin at head of corrie then up Hartfell Rigg to the summit. Walk continued to Falcon Craig.Man of Kernow109/04/2015

Solo lovely day. Bus to Moffat. After coffee in the Rumbling Tum Walk to start followed track to top and followed the track to meet the Annandale Way and back down to Moffat. Felt unwell after leaving the summit. This held me up and I missed the last bus home. Stayed overnight at the Annandale Arms hotel. Very nice.munromurph05/04/2015

Staying at Howslack Farm so convenient point to start without having to drive. Five summits planned weather permitting. It wasn't and had had enough of driving rain and strong SSW wind wading through knee deep softish snow. Having lost my right hand photographing and logging Hart Fell trig decided did not fancy any more peaks today, especially as they would have been in to the wind. Discretion better part of valour and handrailed fence to Strong Cleuch and followed Lochan Burn to Newton Farm Cottage. Still a fair walk, nearly 10 miles in tough conditions in just on 5 hours.SteveSmith23/01/2015
