Backpacking 4th day | Adventurers5 | 15/09/2022 |
Parked at the end of public road, for back of ten, headed straight up Dollar Law, south to Fifescar Knowe, Norman Law, then around to Greenside Law. On the way up Black Law, I decided to contour around the south slope, which was a mistake, to many peat hags.
Conscleuch Head was uninteresting, Deer Law has a nice stone feature for the a summit. I returned back over Conscleuch Head then up Black Law then north to Black Cleuch Hill.
Descended west to rejoin the valley and walk north back up the to road to the car. Sunny all day, 07:50hrs all in. | chillyman8 | 09/07/2022 |
Black Cleuch Hill, Black Law, Greenside Law, Notman Law, Fifescar Knowe and Dollar Law. Long tromp down through the heather and bilberries. | tsharp | 23/06/2022 |
Layby parking at St Mary’s Kirkyard NT256235. W on tarmac to Dryhope and SUW then 4x4 track up Dryhope Burn after which bits of ATV track can be linked up almost to summit of Deepslack Knowe. Irksome veg to Blackhouse Heights, then paths and ATVs to Black Law, Conscleuch Head, Deer Law, Henderland Hill, Capper Law, ATV down E flank of this to St Mary’s kirkyard. | Isbjorn | 03/06/2022 |
Walked in from Henderland, near St Marys Loch. Henderland Hill, Milehope Head, Deer Law, Conscleuch Law, Black Law SW Top, Black Law. Onwards to Black Cleuch Hill & White Cleuch Hill. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 29/04/2022 |
From small mapped parking on A708 near Dryhope (NT 2712 2429). Ward Law and Deepslack Knowe first then continued along fenceline to here. On to the SW Top, Conscleuch Head and Deer Law before dropping steeply down in NE direction to pick up estate road at bottom of Ferny Cleuch for a 5k walk out. A pleasant 17.3 round albeit in wintery conditions on the tops. | jonglew | 07/04/2022 |
From Blackhouse Heights. I recall the series of furrows being created back in the 1990s, ugly then but vanishing under the heather now | Colin Crawford | 23/03/2022 |

Manorhead Horseshoe - Dollar Law, Fifescar Knowe, Norman Law, Greenside Law, Deer Law, Conscleuch Law, Black Law and Black Cleuch Hill. 11.5 miles. 3011ft ascent | DaveGraham | 19/04/2021 |
I gained height quickly and was soon on Langhaugh Hill. The continuation to Black Cleugh Hill started well along a ATV track. At the wooden shooting butts I headed up onto the shoulder as advised in the guide book. Although I found the fence that would be my guide over Black Cleugh Hill and onwards to Black Law the going under foot was unpleasant. There were multiple parallel tracks in places that appeared the result of human activity, but were too rough and chopped and changed to be pleasant. The descent and ascent to Conscleugh Head and subsequently to Deer Law were straightforward. | langskill | 08/10/2020 |
Heather hack from Deepslack Knowe, which got mercifully short higher up. Surprisingly nice summit made it worth the effort, leisurely lunch. Decided to leave NE tops for another day as unexpectedly tough walking sapped our time and energy. Could see Ben Vorlich, Skiddaw and the Cheviot. On to SW top. | Wycombe Wanderer | 21/07/2020 |
Black Law: parked off road and bought eggs from lad on quad bike, who emphasised his hope that we enjoy them. Beautiful approach to ascent: breezy, sunny day, not too hot, along a track through green hillsides with very vocal sheep in organised move. Unfortunately, the brutal interminably heathery ascent caused abrupt change in mood - grim silence, but oh, what a reward (very beautiful, stunning view and a lie-down on comfy, short heather in sun). | Bag For Life | 21/07/2020 |

Hardest Manor Donald by a mile in my estimation! | iangpark | 13/09/2019 |
From parking area on N. side of bridge at 199307, the 2nd of 5 Donalds on E. side of the Manor valley, starting with Black Cleuch Hill & finishing on Greenside Law. From Black Cleuch Hill, along right side of fence which is deeply rutted. Eventually crossed over to left & much easier going; should have crossed over earlier. Continued to Conscleuch Head. (S) | gerrybowes | 03/09/2019 |
Came from Black Cleuch Hill with Gus McN along fence to reach BL summit at gate. This was Final Donald on second round. Continued SW to lower top of BL and then down/up to Conscleuch Hill. Weather was fine for walking, clouding over as forecast but dry. First visit was solo on 07/07/2015. | jacobus | 03/08/2019 |
Long haul out here and back from Peebles. Absolute stunner of a day for it though. | Alex C | 03/08/2019 |

Last day of a New Year week in Peebles. Parked where the RoW leading to the Megget Reservoir leaves the Manorhead road. Space for about 3 cars. Enjoyed a very easy stroll up to the pile of stones marking the high point of the RoW. An ATV track/path leads easily W to the summit of Greenside Law. Back to the RoW making a short detour for the S summit. The next bit was much easier than it looked. A path leads E to a shed & then continues faintly down Black Rig to cross the burn at about NT212259. Paths rise beside a stream coming to an ATV track passing underneath Conscleuch Head & straight to Deer Law. Switchbacked along the fenceline over Conscleuch Head to Black Law summit. Returned to SW top of Black Law & followed fence WSW to pt598m on Redsike Head. Faint sheep tracks slanted down easily W to rejoin the RoW back to the start. Cold & overcast but with decent views except for Dollar Law which was firmly stuck in cloud all day. A good round when the ground is frozen. | NotReallyABagger | 04/01/2019 |
Up SUW from St Marys Loch over Deepslack Knowe then on to Black Law (Out and back to Black Cleuch Hill) then on to Conscleuch Head and Deer Law. Finished over Henderland Hill and down to St Marys Kirkyard then along track and road to car. Very heavy going in heather most of the day. | SS | 27/10/2018 |

From Langhaugh. | ngthack | 14/09/2015 |
Solo; from P at confluence of Kirkhope Burn and Manor Water, walked over Langhaugh Hill and around Waddyside Rig, inadvertently missing Blackhouse Heights and having to go back to summit it (25mins lost). Returned to go over Black Law and its SW top, veering S to climb Conscleuch Head and Deer Law; retraced to col DL/CH and then W to jump across Glengaber Burn and up v deep heather and moss to reach through-track to Megget. Very heavy rain at start, easing later with a little sunshine prompting discarding waterproofs but 10 mins later had them back on for the remainder of walk to Greenside and Dollar Laws. | trienbrae | 07/07/2015 |
