Same parking area as Joss Ker…a v narrow road with not many options. Chose to get into field via field gate. An electric fence kept the cows and calfies on other side. Common gulls roosting and a small flock of Suffolk X sheep. Lush grass given the month. Ambled around all the high areas and marvelled at remains of fort. An easy # marylin.VerySlowPlodder22/10/2023
Came of the A1 at Lamberton and drove up the hill onto the Moor passing Pig Farm at Campfield. There was enough space at the roadside without blocking any gates at the edge of the wood and field just NE of the hill top. A quick hop over a fence into the field and up to the top. Walked over the raised area that would be the hill fort remains. The ground to the South in the field looked slightly higher so walked over to that but looking back the raised ground of the hill fort looked higher but either way it was the highest area of the field. No livestock around today. Surely contender for the easiest Marilyn??Jossker17/10/2023
Verge parking opposite gate (NT945592). Across field to impressive Habchester fort, easily crossing one fence. Broad, featureless summit area.vuirich26/02/2023
From roadside, no cattle about.colazione01/01/2023
Much better than I expected, thanks to the well-defined hill fort. Parked on Tams Wood lane space then through first gate, gerrybowes like, good insulating strip to get over elec fence at gap in wall. Good fort, uninteresting HP but very good views; out through 2nd gate, no fences but care not to walk btw calves and anxious cows.pwheeler17/09/2022
09:30, after night in 'shepherd's hut' at Foulden. 15 degrees - May-like.Wycombe Wanderer05/08/2022
Bagged on my way to Scotland. Parked at junction. Easy walk up to hill fort. Herd of cows near the top.Jhimmy09/07/2022
From roadside to NE over pastureland. Impressive remains of fort. Nipped over to trig as well.sclater17/04/2022

Difficult to park in winter on the narrow road and muddy banks. I am not a lover of these agricultural low hills with livestock, barbed wire, electric fences, mud and often disapproving landowners. Anyway, quite an easy bag in the end. I hopped over the gate and skirted the empty grassy field anti-clockwise up to the fort. Across grass to summit. Back same way. Solo.Dangerous Dave18/01/2022
Through gate and up field to trig, on to proper summit. Only 2 other gates, easily crossed, and no cattle.iangalbraith23/11/2021
1 of 3: Parked on the verge at 94660 58981. Then up as per JulieB except we went well to the right to give the bull and cows a wide berth. Returned the same way from the TP. Then drove to the Coquet Valley. With Karen.ChrisR11/10/2021
From NT944588, went directly up from the road junction, past the fort. But I then had to get into the field where the top lay and that involved crossing a double electric fence, barbed wire and clumps of nettles. I got shocked and cut and trying to avoid the first two obstacles, got stung as well! Not the easiest of hills I've climbed!Kompass01/09/2021
Parked mostly on grass verge 20m or so W. of the junction at NT 9440 5912 - E. along road for less than 100m, over gate & up over pasture to the unmarked summit. Collapsed wall & low wire fencing easily crossed N. of summit. Suckler cows showed little interest. (S)gerrybowes29/06/2021
Up the grass field, over dyke, then top 10 paces away.Play2End12/06/2021
Parked as others in the unsurfaced lane just N of the road junction - only place I found with plenty of space. Up to junction, left for a few yards, over gate, across field and a wall/fence to fort and the summit. Fences here, unlike many others are not designed to be difficult for walkers. Continued to trig point and back to road. A few cows around but no problem. Very pleasant walk, lovely country. 40 minutes overall.dbb04/09/2020
Parked just north of the hill, then a simple walk up over the old fort. 15 minsSimon Winton21/02/2020
Parked on wide verge opposite gate at 945592. Through gate, straight up to fort, over one fence just before fort (not a problem), down and up through the fort an up to grassy summit. Then took a direct line to trig point (can see trig from summit), descended down left hand side of fence to road (through 2 gates that were both wide open) then back along road to start. Not very long or far. Quite a pleasant little circuit with good views of the coast and the Cheviots.JulieB01/02/2020
Solo. I parked in the lane in Tam’s Wood at NT94395922, as others have done. Walked along road to gate at NT94755888. As Sprog has said this gives access to field containing summit. Intermediate fence shown on OS 1:25,000 map is no longer there. From summit along field edges to Trig Point and then straight down to road. Gates in fences where needed, some of which were open. A bright, dry morning with excellent visibility. Temperature sub zero.pwbellarby19/11/2019
Easy walk from north through gated field but I had a shocking experience with non-signed electric fence and sharp barbed wire near fort at top - beware....willyross18/08/2019
Drove by FBM first. Then walked up and down field edges to trig pillar. Avoided crossing fields due to livestock. Near N road junction went through gate and up to high point. Soaking wet day.KevPalmer08/05/2019
Solo trip: quick diversion off the A1.Invicta1405/10/2018
Area seems to have had a battering from Storm Ali. From road junction to N, gate into field, up field with bwf to step over at top into fort. Farmer in trenches with tank of weedkiller on his back 'for the dock leaves'. Summit just beyond; farmer said 'they canna mak up theer minds weer top is... theer using satellites the noo.'Aye Jimmy22/09/2018
Parked on wide verge opposite gate at nt945592. Over gate, up track, up slope to fence, right along fence until you get to a strainer post where the electric cable has been recessed adjacent to the hill fort. Cross fence and up to summit.raffemeister14/09/2018
Parked in Tom’s Wood and had long chat with landowner. Very misty, dew on grass. En route Edinb-Ldn. Rounsfell29/06/2018
Used the parking in wood as Owen B. There were cattle with young calves in the field but I gave them a wide berth and they were no trouble.Chris Peart20/06/2018
Parked on wide verge by gate nt946589 up lane through gate and cross the field. EasyG0HIO18/05/2018
Parked by gate (leaving Sarah and the kids with the car in case car needed moved for farmer to access field), up grassy field without any need to cross electric fences. No cows in field today. After bagging summit descended over fort and it’s impressive ramparts.assynt_bob06/05/2018
Quick wander up to fort and flat summit. Plenty barbed wire and electric fences but nothing serious.SS16/04/2018
from road junction at tams woodBLACKHILL08/04/2018
Grotty easterly breeze, low cloud. Muddy verges so found solid parking 30 metres or so into Tam's Wood from the ungated access at 944593. Gate at the T junction giving access to the hill. No bovines around but didn't fancy the electric fence so crossed at the fence junction 100 metres or so west of the summit.Owen B30/03/2018
Parked at the end of the plantation, strolled about 100 m down the road to the gate, walked up the field, no walls, BWFs or electric fences to climb. Nice views and a fine hill fort.Gill10/02/2018
I took a cautious route from the wide verge to the North East through the end of the belt of trees, over a curious wooden palisade and up the hill, crossing the double fence at a gap in the wall where the live wire is clad in plastic, carefully over the double ramparts of the hill fort to the modest summit. Not in the least shocking...Nick Down129/11/2017
From bend in minor road to SSE. Farm track initially then across a pasture and over stock fencing. Unremarkable summit in pasture.jonglew18/10/2017
Lamberton Hill was ok but the unplanned diversion after this down to St Abb's was really great.Alex C18/10/2017

From junction of minor roads to north, limited parking. Gate into field (empty) and up to crest, hop over electric fence/barbwire. Onto fort, summit and a walk through wet grass to the trig point. Odd caravans parked high up near the Trig.N.Morters15/07/2017
S/F gate to the NE. Off-road parking. One low electric fence easily crossed. No cows, just one grumpy sheep.AndrewFinnimore03/04/2017
Parked at road junction to north 945592. Walked SW down road to a gate which you can squeeze through. Up to hill fort and then right to corner of field, Step over a couple of low fences to the top. A drive by tick from the A1!mindlessflogger09/07/2016
Parked beside strip of woodland to NE. Ten minutes there and back. Lots of cattle but no problems, other than one mild shock crossing electric fence.Crib Goch02/07/2016
Weather fair with snow on ground.MountainMac16/01/2016

Parked at 'layby' at NT591581 opposite gate but walked SW along road to track going to Greenfield shown on 1:25k map (there is a car park near its start). Went first to trig then through gate, to NW corner of field, over fence to the grassy summit. Returned SE along fence direct to car. 30 mins.Jim.Fothergill01/10/2015
Solo from 948589 towards the caravans then to the trig point before following the fence north west before striking north to the top. Menacing cattle on 2 other routes I tried from the minor road on the north side. I managed to get there before the cattle spotted me.bolton03/09/2015
Parked opposite the gate at NT944591, over the gate, south towards the summit. Over the drystone dyke (electric wire either side), then over the fort ditches, then short walk to the summit. No cairn.Robinho0822/08/2015
From NE. Parking on broad grass verge at end of wood. Climbed corner posts of electric fence to gain access to pasture alongside the wood. This way there is no need to cross the electric fence higher up.Minto02/08/2015
The farmers were mowing the grass in both adjacent fields. A lovely day.aul-fogie30/06/2015
Quick and thoroughly unexciting! (Write-up here: http://gayleybird.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/another-surprise-five.html )Gayle28/05/2015
parked at gate up side of wall and fence.robertphillips02/05/2015
From NE, easy walk up from broad grass verge to unmarked summit behind the fort.Topographer5721/04/2015
