Solo. From road end at Baravore in Glenmalure. Up through forest on path and track to Fraughan Rock Glen. Continued on path that climbs steeply up out of the glen. Up ridge of Cinnow to Summit of Lugnaquilla. Very misty high up. Returned same way. This ascent is almost 50 years after my first ascent of Lugnaquilla and completes my second round of the Irish 3000 footers.pwbellarby20/07/2018

My last 3000 footer in Ireland! Car park at end of Glenmalur road (near ford) - track to head of valley (just south of Table Mountain) - Camenabologue - Lugnaquilla - Clohernagh - descent by east ridge to zigzags alongside Carrawaystick Brook - return along road. Walked solo. Weather mostly sunny but early morning mist took some time to clear and partly obscured views on Camenabologue and Lugnaquilla summits. Windy. Lugnaquilla is a sprawling and complex mountain with many ridges and corries. Feels very remote - a reasonable path though from Lugnaquilla back to the valley over Clohernagh. Excellent views when I got them! Take care not to drift into Glen lmaal artillery range! Time 6 hours.jamessteel10009/08/2017

Summit 8/11. A horseshoe walk of 41.1kms done in 13hrs and 5mins. Started up Church Mountain 544m, went around the forest and up Corriebracks 531m and then on to Lobawn 636m. Followed the tracks as much as possible and Table Mountain 702m and Camenabologue 758m. Then left the normal tracks and did Camenabologue SE Top 663m, Benleagh 689m, and then up Lugnaquilla 925m and then took the tack down to Slievemaan 759m and Ballineddan Mountain 652m. Headed to the road between Ballineddan Mountain and Keadeen Mountain and took some shortcuts and forest tracks up to the summit of Keadeen Mountain 653m and took a steep descent to the small country roads near Spinans Hill. My last Irish 'Munro', happily done of the first day of my stayin Glemalure. Up via Fraughan Rock Glen- good valley scenery. I took a poor line for the final ascent onto the plateau, it went ok but very steep, 1/2 km either side would have been better. Good views, little sunshine, and a nice descent, keeping high for a while- over Clohernaugh and via Art's Lough.pwheeler28/05/2011

A lovely summers day ascent with my good friend Dave! We had no great plans made but were up for adventure so took a drive and headed for the Wicklow Mountains. We parked up and headed made a bee line for the highest point! We were slightly underprepared but had the exuberance of youth on our side. I remember feeling quite exhilarated at the top!Gerry the Ranger10/06/1996
