I Parked to the N then along obvious route, first along hard path, then across peat bog, not the most interesting of paths, Pillar is in good condition and located just outside huge mast compound, the views (if you ignore the mast) are great from the top in all directions, right over to the Mournes in NI i could make out Slieve Donnard (where i was last week) This is a hill with a lot going for it. Marilyn, Hump, Simm, Hewitt, Historic County Top, Current County/UA Top, Dillon, Arderin, Vandeleur-Lynam (Ma,Hu,Sim,Hew,CoH,CoU,Dil,A,VL) and only three trig visits in 13 years 7 years apart.griefmiester20/06/2017

Parked at the bottom security gate and made our way up the road. Was a cold and windy day at the start of the ascent but by the time we were making our way back down it had brightened up somewhat much to our delight :)Lizzie Murray31/03/2012

Quick dash up the track in miserable weatherRhayader_wander29/07/2004
I made my ascent from the Dodder Valley (MR O 125194) rather than walk up the TV transmitter access road. Initially the path was difficult due to high and dense bracken cover. However once out on the open moorland I simply headed SW and used the TV mastHarry Goodman12/07/2004
