A beautiful afternoon walk done on a day of abating showers and gales after a wet wild morning. All afternoon the water in the fall above Sgillogue Loughs was blown upwards: Nire Valley head car pk- Cnoc Sheegowna- Cnoc an Aifrinn- The Gap- car pk. 2.5 miles along quiet lanes then up to Cnoc Sheegowna. A delightful ridge walk to Cnoc an Aifrinn, dotted with conglomerate tors that gave some shelter but also the risk of being dashed against the sharp inclusions by the gale. The views were fabulous- the fields below really were emerald, Mt Leinster and Galtymore beyond. A delightful revelation that there is so much to do in Ireland. | pwheeler | 26/05/2011 |
