From ponderosa with Sazz and Col. Nice steady walk with the odd steep little bit, nothing too bad! Great views of Moel FamauLaura.W19/05/2019
First hill today, started in layby opposite the Ponderosa Café, crossed main road and walked left along the road to gate. Stay on main track, a bit steep in a few places. Nice views at first summit. Carry on along the track to take a side path to Sir Watkins Tower, the ruin remains of an 18th century folly tower. Again nice views of the Dee Estuary and Cheshire in the distance.giant_hiker06/05/2019

Pleasant walk from the Ponderosa, where I have not visited since I was a child. Stunning views. Visited both tops, including the trig and the heather covered cairn. Nice peaceful place, Ponderosa was busy and indeed full of bikers. Gift shop is actually quite sweet.tumpawumpa01/09/2018

Wow! What a fab walk. From Chainbridge hotel to Llandynan, up past the slate quarry, with awesome views of the Dee valley to Moel-y-Gamelin. Down to the Ponderosa, and a fast, cake-fuelled ascent to Cyrn-y-Brain (good views, ugly masts). To the trig, and back on Offa's. Up the track circling around World's end for an amazing finale along the top of the crags, joining Offa's via an interesting descent path. OS map hopelessly, completely wrong in a good way! Down the road and canal towpath to finish.Gill15/10/2016

Glyndyfrdwy to Coedpoeth. An easy walk up from Ponderosa. The summit isn't much, marred by the masts but Sir Watkin's Tower is a must visit -the views west into Wales are something special and it was hard to tear my eyes away to leave. Fair to say, I didn't expect this hill to be the highlight of my day, wonderful!Jake99408/04/2016

Started by the Ponderosa Cafe and followed the access track up though I did use the obvious grassy path for a short while on the right of the track. Visited the cairn shelter at the summit then went on to the trig and Sir Watkins Tower. Glorious late summer afternoon, all of the heather was in bloom with lots of pipits and lower down a few stonechats.Peterb11/09/2015

The plan to look at butterflies at Eyarth Rock foiled by cold weather and sleety showers. This weather was good for the walk, though. Super visibility between showers made it a pleading walk to all the possible summits- a tumulus, Sir Watkin Tower that gave good view E- from the Ponderosa café- plenty of parking including a big lay-by opposite.pwheeler07/05/2015

Detoured off Offas dyke starting from Llandegla. I took a track just inside the fence to Llandegla moor (very wet) and eventually i climbed a stile and walked Up to the trig point and the mound called Sir Watkins tower. After Moel y Gamelin we had lunch and headed up the other side of the road - following the radio station track. We reached the radio masts and continued to the trigpoint and a broken building at what we thought was the top. We didn't have a map - and debated whether a rocky outcrop near the masts was higher than the trig.ChinnockC31/08/2003
After a coffee at the café strolled gently up hill to the radio masts visiting the cairn high point there. Then carried on alongside a fence before becoming perpendicular to the trig.Luckily at this point a faint track went through the heather to the triggaryhoney08/02/2003
