Taken as part of a 6 mile run from Bala Caravan and Camping Club Clubsite at Sarnau Route Pen Coed-y-Bedo, BrynBras, Orddu, Pen-y-cerrig-searth back to Orddu then Foel Goch - a run down the old drovers way to the Farm at Pentre-tai-yn-y-cwm a lovely chat with the farmer Mr Owen about the history of this ancient village (a very interesting bloke!) and a mild rebuke for running up BryBras which is not allowed, apparently, which is a shame because there is an excellent and almost dry path all the way to the top! | Shutterlag | 19/09/2017 |
9 mile walk from junction of minor roads south by Pandy farm, followed minor road then field footpath onto Pen Coed-Y-Bedo, then headed along grassy ridge to Bryn Bras, contoured round to Pen Y Cerrig-Serth then headed west onto Orddu and grassy trails onto Foel Goch, carried on along ridge to Garreg Fawr then across barbed wire fences onto Pen Y Bwlch Gwyn and up to conical Moel Emoel back down lane by Nant Cefn-Coch back to car, very showery and a lot of cloud on the bigger mountains surrounding, easy terrain under foot but quite wet. This would be a delightful short walk on nice grassy paths in good weather. It's still quite nice in torrential rain and a howling gale, but this makes it harder work than it ought to be, and makes a circuit of the hill distinctly unattractive. For that reason, I did an out and back from Llangwm, via Bron Llan and Orddu, and that was sufficient suffering for one day. | Gill | 19/03/2017 |
Parked by Cockpit near Coed-Y-Bedo - Cwm Da (outward lost old Road & trek up West side of valley - Foel Goch (611 - Summit Cairn, Trig & Inscribed Stone)- Returned following old road via Waun Tafolog. Wild but with old signs of old habitation (and tracks), an beautiful intriguing landscape not to be rushed. | briandavies | 10/03/2017 |
Pleasant solo walk up from Llangwm on a small round of 4 hills. On to Orddu, then a couple of sub-Deweys. | jonglew | 06/11/2016 |
Last hill of the day and feeling it - lungs feeling dodgy. Too hazy for good view. 1 hour from Hafod-yr-Esgob - same back. Could murder a Snowdonia lager. | Wycombe Wanderer | 14/09/2016 |
Parked outside boarded up church in Llangwm to N. Up lane then grassy track to boundary of access land, stepped over fence and about 20 yards uphill picked up faint ATV track, which continued (getting more obvious) to summit. The first and possibly last snowfall of the winter persuaded me to try a low and none-too-steep hill. Foel Goch theoretically belongs to the Arenigs but is in fact a good eight miles from Arenig Fach, the closest major hill. It is normally climbed from the south, but I parked up the road from Llangwm and took the track up through snow-covered fields. It flattened after passing through a gate, and then near a boundary stone the way was right. There may have been a path but in virgin snow it was not apparent. The only way was up, and soon the trig point was visible. Stunning views, completely white in all directions. The descent took little more than half an hour, with sheep scattering through the snow into the sunset. | peter4lc | 19/11/2004 |
