During a long weekend in Wales with J, Shaky & Smithy. A sunny but breezy day. Paid the £5 at Eisteddfa Gurig into what amounted to an honesty bucket after debating whether to park in a layby further down the hill. Followed the E RoW to the summit of Pen Pumlumon Fawr for a good view, then onwards over the E top to Pen Pumlumon Arwystli. Then reversed the tops checking out the source of the Wye & descended the W RoW. I nipped out & back to Y Garn which is a nice top before cathcing the others up. Saturday night entertainment in Rhayader ensued...NotReallyABagger29/09/2018

Walked from Llanidloes past Clywedog dam through Hafen Forest. Then to Source of River Severn. From there follow border fence along the broad ridge climbing to Plynlimon. Camped on top to a glorious sunset. Down steep west slope (no path) to Nan-y-moch reservoir and long walk to Aberystwyth. Hot and sunny!peter09/07/2018

On own. From car park on A44 by Eisteddfa-Gurig. W to forest edge then N alongside forest until ridge then N to summit. Return via footpath heading SE to old miners track. Beautiful clear skies. A good walk.Beeliner24/08/2017
One hour forty five, four and a half mile county top walk which started from the minor road that runs along side the Nant Y Moch reservoir. followed the service track to Lly Llyad Rheidal and then up grass path to the col to reach the path of the right which you follow to the trig, Can be boggy on the return if you follow the Maesnant down but good views of the reservoir.WAYNE ROWLETT21/08/2017

A 2 day wander around Plynlimon, starting from Nant y Moch reservoir, north-east to Glaslyn then south past the source of the River Severn & a night on the edge of Hafren Forest. Then a visit to the source of the Wye and back to the reservoir via Plynlimon Summit. Day 1 clear skies, got back to the car just before a thunder storm arrived.mickdavidson26/05/2017

Parked at Eisteddfa Gurig (£5 for the day), lots of spaces, headed N via old mine and source of river Wye to Pen Pumlumon Arwystli, then on to Pen Pumlumon Llygad-bychan [Plynlimon East Top], Pumlumon Fawr, Pumlumon Fach and Y Garn. A super day out on almost deserted hillsides.Cas-gwent09/05/2017
From SN762861, steep and pathless to Y Barn then straightforward round of the other 4 Nuttalls, finally descending via Pen Cerrig Tewion and back on the track from Llyn Lygad Rheidol. Cloudless skies throughout - great day out.milimana08/04/2017

Easy walk from the car park on the main road, which is still £5. Passed a killed badger at around 2000ft which was half eaten by something, seemed quite high.David Bell10/11/2016

Went up track off south side of Nant-y-Moch to Llyn Rheidol and took sheep track up bluff between to summits. Turned right up to the top of Plunlumon Fach. Nice View from the top of Cardigan bay, lots of impressive cloud. (Had already climbed the peak on the left of the bluff but realised this wasn't Plunlumon Fach). Down to bottom of bluff and on up the path southerly and up onto Plunlumon Fawr. Had seen the low cloud shroud the peak from P. Fach and as I was ascending, after quick sarnie, cloud came in again. Pressed on and not far to P. Fawr. Cloud and wind at top. Much colder than Aberystwyth this morning. Back the same way. Highland cattle blocked the road home but got going eventually. Good afternoon.stridingElephant01/10/2016
From the private car park at Eisteddfa Gurig on the A44 despite the £5 charge, HMRC please note. Track, then clear path to the top. Excellent shelter. Decided to forego the nearby Nuttalls as the weather came in.Newton Maximus17/05/2016
From Eisteddfa Gurig via the Sweet Lamb rally complex. Beware the ford. Up to the River Wye source and then cut up to the ridge. Back down the fence to the wood. Clear still Saturday. Only saw 4 other walkers.Tribillo14/05/2016

Parked at road end nr Maesnant. Up the stream line almost direct to the top. Easy walk. Carried on round above the corrie and down the ridge/ valley line towards the new bridge. Out to Drosgol first and then back and over BLM. About 5 hours. Mostly ok underfoot and the bridges were handy.jenx22/02/2016

As per Nuttall route 11.1, with Penda. Clear and only saw one person. Returned via Lyn LR as recommended in book.beorwulf17/09/2015
Last Welsh ancient county top and like all the others, magnificent. Parked in the (totally deserted) car park beside the dam and walked along the road beside Nant y Moch to Bryn y Beddau where a path starts south but quickly swings north west. An unmapped path heads up alongside Maesnant which we followed all the way to the summit. A direct route back to the car park looked possible - and was until we reached really difficult boggy terrain which slowed the last couple of miles greatly. Views from the summit are brilliant.callumorr13/09/2015
from Maesnant, after BLm and Drosgol, straight up ridge in mist and drizzle, ignoring the good path on the N bank of the Maesnant burn, until I found it on the way down.Thearlaichdubh12/09/2015

With G. Parked at Eisteddfa Gurig (honesty box) > Y Garn > Pumlumon Fawr > Pumlumon Fach > Pen Pumlumon Llygad-bychan > Pen Pumlumon Arwystli then back via Pen Lluest-y-carn & good track to A44. Property (Eisteddfa Fach) where track joins A44 unwelcoming to walkers, so had to make slight detour to west onto road.RT197002/08/2015
