Parked at in the small pull in at 66420 09390 for this quick visit, great views for a UA top. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 22/03/2020 |
First hill of the day and the remnants of some overnight stay just evident as I made the quick dash from car to high point. | NormanW | 26/02/2020 |

3/6 Drive-by. | Rounsfell | 08/02/2020 |
With E. Parked on forestry road at foot of hill opposite minor road junction. Walked up road (surprisingly busy) than onto grass and flat summit. Went to both SN6647009482 and SN6650109537 to ensure highest points covered. Also had a wander around the nearby ancient earthworks marked as Penlle'r Castell on OS map which are slightly higher but man made. Good views on a sunny afternoon. Area surrounded by wind turbines. | Beeliner | 16/07/2019 |
Final county top of the weekend with Pete and Joe, parked up as close as possible on road and walked over, wandered to hill fort too. | penbet | 16/06/2019 |

Quick visit to summit and ancient earthworks from road to the west. | Winterfloodian | 30/04/2019 |
done | outlawcatcher | 10/10/2018 |
GPS coordinates downloaded in 2016 clearly wrong, checked and found they had been corrected in 2017. Not quite a roadside bag, it takes a minute or two to walk from the road HP across rough heather to the summit. | Topographer57 | 29/09/2018 |
From the roadside | curlebd | 10/07/2018 |
6/6 Marilyn day. A bit of a cheat as the car took me all the way! Good view from the summit road. (S) | silveracorn_alan | 13/05/2018 |
I thought this was going to be exciting when I saw the signpost to Mynydd y Betws on the A474. Must be a top tourist attraction that it deserves a signpost? Sadly, not. | Gill | 22/02/2018 |

5/8M another drive up got out wandered about. | robertphillips | 10/11/2017 |
We drove to the top on our way from Mynydd Uchaf to the beach. I got out of the car and walked around a bit to make sure I got it. With Keith and Ross (although Ross didn't get out of the car). | islamidget | 19/06/2017 |
Drove past point on road. Stopped in layby to have picnic and look back at point. | Hippy77 | 13/02/2017 |
Drove up did a 10 point turn. Got out with my daughter Isabelle we wandered to the point 374 hard to distinguish. Visited castle and drove back down. Not the best and the wind farm makes it worse. | isabelle | 07/08/2016 |
Short distance from road to HP, between heavy showers. | PeterD | 03/08/2016 |
Not far to walk to this one in the mist. | Neolith | 09/07/2016 |
Drive-thru Marylin on minor roads - walked to castle remains and back. Decent views amongst wind farm. | twg27 | 27/06/2016 |
No walking involved although I needed the GPS to tell me which side of the road I should stand on. | Newton Maximus | 20/05/2016 |
Drive on summit. Wandered the few metres to the actual summit. Horrid weather, not much better summit. Ho hum. | geralddavison | 01/05/2016 |
From Warwick in 3 h.... by car. Walked from layby to tumulus and back, crossing the highest ground. | pwheeler | 26/04/2016 |
A drive thru Marilyn, though I did park up to walk the few yards to the very top! | Cas-gwent | 15/03/2016 |
Parked on east side of road near 371m spot height, SN 66416 09393. Just a drive past bag. Got out of van walking towards high ground to the east and ended up at castle with high ground behind me. Headed back and plumped for spot at SN 66461 09465.
Easy bag, 0.29 miles walked with 5.45m of ascent | mntainman | 15/01/2016 |
Given the ickiness of the weather im a tad suprised i made it up here even in the car
Roads like rivers in places. Top is instantly forgettable on a day like this with no views.
Why am i here? | stig_nest | 14/11/2015 |
With Chris | magirob | 13/10/2015 |
Unashamedly parked at the road highpoint and had a little wander around the grassy, tussocky top which must have looked odd to the passers by...
Didn't bother with castle as was pressed for time. Not the best. | bowlesy | 10/10/2015 |
Appears to be a tuft of grass very close to the road where we parked. With GB. | bolton | 28/07/2015 |
Parked on minor road to west at SN664094 – A short walk to the summit which appears to be at or close to a large clump of moorland grass. (PM) | gerrybowes | 28/07/2015 |
4th of 5 today. Parked on road near summit and short walk to top. Walked on to look at hill fort. Very interesting, which is more than can be said for the summit!
On my own | mike.hoult | 18/05/2015 |

Dash to top from car after work. Not a great spot to stop in the fog... | MattM | 29/10/2014 |
Car to nearly top... | dicky | 31/05/2014 |
A very easy peak, on a stunning day. Could just about make out Pen y Fan to the east. | huwthomas | 18/04/2014 |
Plenty of parking here. Walked over the trig first then headed S to Penlle'r Castell and hill top - broad flat top with nothing to mark it so couldn't say exactly where it was. Could hear wind turbines (not marked on my 1:25k), but see nothing. Then they suddenly loomed out of the mist - surreal! | jonglew | 25/01/2014 |
Parked on grass verge (limited spaces) at high point on road to west and walked to castle. Being a bit lazy as lots of hills to fit in today. Good views, but spoilt (in my opinion) by the wind turbines | Hillsidenick | 26/07/2013 |
Short distance from road junction. Old fort worth a look | shirley pbgv | 17/05/2012 |
A bit misty so no views. Finding the route up from Betws was harder than it looked. The plaque says the "hill forty" is medieval not Iron Age. | clivevilla | 16/11/2011 |
Windy, mild, pouring, misty, no views. | iangalbraith | 09/10/2011 |
Walked up from ammanford railway station and made a enjoyable days walking. The summit is a broad flat plateau with the summit reading on a grassy path. Carried along the path to Penlle'r castell which is definely worth a look,it has a plaque inside. | hodder | 28/04/2011 |
Another from the road in mist. Dodgy considering the traffic. | Eddie | 25/02/2011 |
Probably one of the few to walk from Ammanford! | Buteobuteo | 31/07/2010 |
Drove from Ammanford up mountain road in gathering darkness. Summit unmarked; appeared to be grassy mound close to road. | dbb | 27/03/2010 |
just off the road, nice views as the sun just about setting. | asbown | 01/03/2010 |

Short stroll from car and choose your top. | Aye Jimmy | 03/05/2009 |
As Des Taylor states, a stroll and well worth the extra 100m to the Iron Age Fort. Lovely views on dry, clear sunny morning. | Dugswell2 | 22/03/2009 |
Solo | 1921 | 20/11/2008 |
Stroll. Worth the extra 100m to the iron Age Fort. | destaylor | 08/09/2008 |
A short dash and grab in the mist. No view. Could only just about make out the car 30 meters away. | Father Ted | 26/08/2008 |
As this hill is close to home I have walked to it from all directions over the years. Now in the middle of wind turbines. This was the occasion I logged the triangulation pillar. The hill fort at the summit is worth the short walk. | Dusty | 08/10/2007 |
Day trip to South Wales. | Man of Kernow1 | 19/05/2007 |
Considering all the nice trig points in the area this is a total disappointment. Top about 30m from the road | Rhayader_wander | 09/03/2007 |
Another drive up | robphys | 04/08/2006 |
Bagging by car again!! The earthworks nearby (Middle Ages according to sign) are more interesting than the summit.
Choose whichever tussock of grass you think looks highest. | signyred | 18/07/2006 |
Quoted ref at Penlle'r Castell has ancient historic site. Despite having protected status, the site is on open common and the sheep graze it. | nddavies | 09/04/2006 |
Mynnydd y Betws | dochart111 | 08/01/2006 |
Done 'on way' to the Gower peninsula from Swansea on our 10th wedding anniversary weekend away. Parked near top, walked down road a bit and then back up to say I had 'climbed' it. | pdantic | 29/07/2005 |
In torrential horizontal rain we were surprised when a line of 20-odd waterproof'd ramblers suddenly loomed out of the murk and sloshed miserably past us. Not sure which hump or bumb was the highest, but were very glad the car was so close by! | wheresthepath | 03/10/2004 |
Unmarked point on path before small iron age earthworks (Penlle'r Castell) | webmaster | 15/08/2004 |
petey | 18/05/2003 | |
Parked at the Scotch Pine pub, although a brand new car park had been built 200m up the minor road. Did a large circular walk ending up on St Illtys's Way to the top. | garyhoney | 01/01/2003 |
Galltywenallt | 07/09/2002 | |
A road goes throw it ...
Lovely area around about although the top was a bit of a non-event.
It's been ticked on the list at least. | ChinnockC | 06/04/2002 |
