Parked to the E at the Powter How cp (voluntary donations). Barf and Lord's Seat and back. Deteriorating conditions with a whiteout on Lord's Seat causing the Broom Fell extension to be abandoned. Snow line around 400m. Solo.richard6902/03/2024

My fifth round of the Lord's Seat Group from Whinlatter to Wythop Mill, this time with Chris. Visited Whinlatter Top, Whinlatter Brown How, Tarbarrel Moss, Ullister Hill, Barf, Lord's Seat, Broom Fell, Widow Hause, Graystones (both summits), Ling Fell, Rivings, and Sale Fell. 20km with 1030m ascent taking 7h20m. Lovely autumn colours and great views across the Solway into Scotland. Glad we did not do Skiddaw, our original choice, as it was stubbornly in cloud all day.silverwolf_alan03/11/2023

Today myself and Alma Aurea headed to Powter Howe for a circular walk taking in six Wainwright's - Sale Fell, Ling Fell, Graystones, Broom Fell, Lord's Seat and Barf, plus a couple of nearby summits. The weather was very warm and humid but from the forecast it looked like this area should stay clear of any thunderstorms or showers, which it did. However, despite the lower summit heights, the hills are relatively independent and quite steep it turned out to be quite a long day with some hot steep ascents! The walk took about 7.5 hours to cover the 15 mile route. /Dmeltdiceburg11/06/2023

Day 2 of a big weekend of BGR recce/training, but left the BGR on one side today to explore the Lorton & Wythop fells, starting from Powter How with Barf and going anti-clockwise. Bottled out of Whinlatter as the drizzle got heavier, but it cleared whilst taking in Ullister Hill & Seat How. A grand day out, with plenty of grassy running & a decent amount of bog for Hazel to dash about in.NumptyDumpty05/03/2023

From Broom fell Lords seat was just a short walk away. Luckily the ground was frozen or I suspect this would have been a very boggy unpleasant section. As it was it was very easy and nice to take the views in. Looking north towards Binsey and sale fell towards the Solway Firth in Scotland. Skiddaw dominating the view east with our next target in site Barf. Nice rocky summit with a metal pole on the summit surrounded by mini Christmas trees.Scotty 2 Hotty02/01/2019

Nice weather for a couple of days so went to do the tops at the North side of Whinlatter. Donald from next door and super pooch Marley joined me. Up through the forest, took in Ullister Hill Birkett, then the Wainwrights Barf, Lords Seat and Broom Fell, popped up the rather uninteresting Tarbarell Moss Birkett on the way down. Road from Braithwaite closed so had to get in via Lorton. 3 more Ws done.Mark T19/10/2018

First of 4, from the fleshpots of Whinlatter Visitor Centre. Followed the green route, assuming that the maps at the VC made sense, but no, it takes you to some daft viewpoint, then goes a long way downhill. There's a much better way, which I followed down from the summit. Where the silly green route goes up steeply to the right at a fork (easily recognisable), just go left for a much more sensible route direct to the top. A nice hill with good views, spoiled by forestry.Gill02/09/2017

Climbed from Wythop Mill up Ling Fell, Graystones, Graystones (Birkett), Kirk Fell (Lorton), Widow's Hause, Broom Fell, Lords Seat and Barf. Beautiful sunny October day, but chill east wind on tops. Wythop Moss was a big wet bog, especially after some days on rain. Was going to do Sale Fell and adjacent Birketts too, but tree felling at head of Wythop valley had restricted access, and it was difficult to get out and back down the valley.mavero1029/10/2014

Thornthwaite- Beckstones Gill- Barf- Lords Seat- Broom Fell- Graystones- Spout Force- Whinlatter Forest Centre- Thornthwiate with Graham Cullen. With a cloud base of 2000 ft, it made good sense to do these lower, previously neglected hills. This time we used paths rather than via the Bishop to attain Barf's summit, then it was a nice walk on grassy ridges with some considerable undulation, 2700 ft in all on the day.pwheeler30/10/1993
