Round of Wainrights with eldest son (16) from YHA Honister Hause - Grey Knotts, Brandreth, Green Gable, Great Gable, Fleetwith Pike (and also the Nuttall Honister Crag). Unexpectedly sunny all day, forecast afternoon thunderstorm only arrived in the evening. Would not recommend descending the western scree slope of Great Gable.clyoung12/08/2019

Never been up Great Gable before and it had such a great reputation that I decided to do it justice and walk up the hard way from Wasdale Head. Progress is quick up Gable Beck but the turn-off east up the scrambley face of Great Gable was a real challenge! Proper mountain this one.Altheus25/05/2019

With Richie from Honister Pass - Grey Knotts, Brandreth, Base Brown, Green Gable, Great Gable and both Kirk Fells. Lovely day with snow on the highest peaks. Splendid descent down scree slopes from Great Gable. Head torches required from the top of Loft Beck so abandoned the final few planned hills.Herbert Anchovy24/11/2018
From Green Gable via Windy Gap which was very well named today. Great view around the corner from the col.bevandy11418/11/2018
For the Remembrance Sunday Centenary. Shocking weather. Solo. 4/5Tom D11/11/2018
My sixth Remembrance Sunday on Gable. Parked at Seathwaite Farm then walked via Stockley Bridge, Styhead stretcher box, and tourist path. Descended by same route. Started walking at approx 8am, summit at 10.35. Increasing low cloud and hill fog from 650 metres, very poor visibility at summit. Rain set in at 10.00 and persisted until early afternoon, driven by gusting wind; significant chilling. With L.Skip11/11/2018
Climbed for remembrance Sunday. Shocking weather, approximately 1500 others made the ceremony. Cheers all.Karmakarl11/11/2018

With brother and his wife. A little cooler and cloudier today. Still shorts and t shirt ( and trainers) all day and a leisurely chat about the World Cup with birthday group at the top of GReat Gable. From Honister Pass, bypassing Brandreth and the other one), over Green Gable, descent very loose and steep as were off track. Found path to Becks Head and back by Moses Trod. Perhaps the best views yet and certainly of Pillar, Ennerdale, Buttermere. 5 hours but should have been much shorter,niallp06/07/2018

My fifth Remembrance Sunday on Great Gable. Started from Seathwaite Farm at 08.10, up Sourmilk Gill, path north of Base Brown to Blackmore Pols, Green Gable, Windy Gap and summit of Great Gable at 10.30. Had lunch at Westmoreland Cairn then returned to Windy Gap and went down Aaron Slack. Followed the gill on north side and down beside Taylorgill Force to the farm. Weather better than forecast - dry, sunny, not much breeze. With D and L.Skip12/11/2017

Been waiting for this day for nearly a year. Remembrance Sunday. Set off from the house after waking up an hour late at 5am and made it to our start point of Seathwaite farm just before 7am just after my morning dump in Rosthwaite. Set off cross the river and headed on the side of Seathwaite fell up to Styhead tarn. From here a headed straight up Gable. great all round views. got to the top had a hot chocolate with the hundreds of other people before the very moving service at the top. one of the very best days on definitely one of the very best mountains in lakelandScotty 2 Hotty12/11/2017
With Chris from Wasdale to Sty Head and up the steps to the summit. From the summit took the path down to Windy Gap then straight up to Green Gable then back to windy Gap and down Aaron slack and returned to Wasdale. Cold day, misty on top, windy so significant chill factor. Aaron slack difficult - scree, needed poles. route to winding gap from Great Gable quite challenging.karentracey30/10/2017
Cloudy at top but cleared for fantastic view down Wasdale. Ascended from the east, descended west. West slope is steep, scrambly and a lot of scree a little off the top.MarkGD19/09/2017
Solo walk from Honister Slate Mine - Grey Knotts - Brandreth - Base Brown - Green Gable - GREAT GABLE - Kirk Fell - Wainwright 120 - Horrible direct descent via scree/boulder field to Beck Head Tarn, not recommended! Probably better to descend via NW ridge to Beck HeadNutty17/09/2017
Parked at Honister YHA and ascended via the tramway up to the drum heel then headed up the Gable path before bearing left up to Grey Knotts then onto Brandreth, Green Gable, Windy Gap, Great Gable back to Windy Gap, Moses Trod back to the slate mine.Stu Percival01/09/2017
