From the mine car park with DW. What a glorious September day albeit very humid. Dale Head (No cloud), Hindscarth and Robinson descending over Buttermere Moss as it's been so dry. V.Steep pathback to Newlands Hause. Not good on jelly legs descending Robinson to the moss.nukeboy108/09/2023

Wow, all alone up here in snow and ice. Great trudge up. A few hardy sheep just below summit. Cold. However magnificent views, could see for miles. Loads of pics. Had a sarnie. Decided that completing Newlands in short day with loads of ice on descent wise to leave for another day. Decided to go to Hindscarth and descend that way. Glad I did. The Newlands Horseshoe anticlockwise from Little Town, with the aim of collecting 7 Birketts / Synges not yet visited on my countless walks along the main ridges. So rather than ascending Robinson, I took the Scope End ridge direct up to Hindscarth, visiting the summits of Scope End, Red Knott and High Crags enroute. Then the usual path to Dale Head. Descended part way towards Honister Pass, taking minor track in a long sweep across the boggy High Scawdel, dropping past the head of Tongue Gill. There then followed very tough terrain along the side of High Spy to bag Low Scawdel and Nitting Haws. From there used the track to bring me out onto the main ridge. Headed S to the main top, then returned N to the N Top. Followed the wonderful cliff edge track to the summit of Maiden Moor, then on along the main track, before dropping steeply down the east side of the crags and across the undulating shelf to High Crags, and back to Little Town. 18km with 1200m ascent, taking me 7 hours.silverwolf_alan25/10/2022
From Chapel Bridge, Little Town, Newlands. 15 km, 990 m asc. S along the Dale Head mine track to Goldscope Mines. Cross Newlands Beck and take the ridge path SW and S over Scope End, Red Knott and High Crags to the summit of Hindscarth. Continue by Hindscath Edge to Dale Head summit. E down to Dalehead Tarn and then N over High Spy and Maiden Moor and onto Catbells summit. Return S to Hause Gate and take the Yewthwaite Comb bridleway back to Little Town.
