We parked at the lane up to the start of the walk and headed up over the gate. this path is muddy and starts a gradual ascent which steepens up through very long bracken. We descended straight dwon the nose which is easier and takes you back along the lane. With Richie. | Zoe Little | 07/09/2019 |
30 degree heat today so quite a slog to the top, was glad of the shade of the trees at intervals. Lovely views of Blencathra and Sharp Edge. | Delta68 | 25/08/2019 |

Run up from Quiet Side campsite. It was a misty mild morning with no breeze. It was a routine run to the National Trust sign. In stead of going through the gate I followed the track West eventually coming to a no access wood. To avoid the wood I headed North through a field on to the open fell. It was extremely steep through the woods and bracken. Once through the bracken it was easier. Summit was in mist and marked by a small cairn. I headed back East on the path which was a lot easier. I passed through some windswept and stunted conifers before descending steeply to the National Trust sign. Once on the road it was an easy slow run back to the campsite. Time taken 1 hour 45 minutes for 8 miles. I heard the Cuckoo. I saw a superb Red Squirrel and got close to it. I also saw the usual Skylarks and Pipits along with a pair of Bullfinches some Siskins and the commoner species. | isabelle | 31/05/2018 |
