1/5 From Birks Bridge, Harter Fell (Revisit) and then down the NW ridge to pick up Birketts and Synges: Demming Crag, Horsehow Crags, Peathill Crag South Top and Peathill Crag. Then doubled back along fenceline for 400 yards to pick up footpath through the young forest, back down to join forest track to car park. 6 miles.nickywood109/08/2020
Walk up from Birks Bridge with Izzy. Went straight up the rather boggy steep path.Saw a Merlin, Sparrowhawk, Meadow Pipits, Chaffinches and a Robin. Summit was rocky and it was a bit of a scramble to get to the top. Bit of wind. Views were okay as summit was free of cloud. Returned down to the South West where we picked up the forestry path easily back to Birks Bridge.isabelle01/08/2020

From the top of Hard Knott pass we headed to Harter fell. Fairly easy most of the way then straight up to the summit. And what a great summit it was. You have to climb up to the true summit but the official summit has a trig point. Met 2 men who didn’t know what mountain they were on. Absolutely stunning seeing to isle of man and even Blackpool tower. Getting tired we made our way back to the car. I stripped and drove home in boxers. We said bye to Harter Fell Harold the lonely tree and got home. Had a healthy takeaway and watch Ronnie v Perry in the NI open semi-final. Great day and good to get the corner bagged off.Scotty 2 Hotty16/11/2019

I walked to Whahouse Bridge, turned through a sheep pasture and on emerging from woodland at a crossroads went straight on up a hill. Shortly I saw other walkers on the other side of the ravine and realised I must have taken a wrong turning. I rejoined the main path further up. There were two paths on the map and I took the more southerly one which was barely a path at all, just a rough climb up grass. I caught up with the walkers I had seen earlier while they were resting, and from there it was a short but steep climb to the summit. The highest point is some rocks near the trig point. The descent was on the more northerly of the tracks which is conveniently cairned, as the path disappears in places. I then took the easy track which slanted down to Jubilee Bridge.peter4lc21/04/2018
Walk from the top of Hardknott Pass up and back to Hardknott picking up my rucksack from the car and walking on to Harter Fell. After Hardknott Fell and Fort then lunch at The Woolpack, I went up Harter Fell from Penny Hill. This is regarded as the best way and it gave a lovely ascent to a little rock ridge summit. With the cloud level slowly falling from 2500 ft today, we were a bit smug about our choice of mountains-most of the group had gone much higher. Leeds University Outdoor Activities Course at Dale Head, Duddon. Leading and teaching sixth-formers with Chris McAllistair. After lunch Chris, I and our group walked to Birks Bridge, Birks Farm and up path immediately behind farm, through trees. At tree line I steered by compass to the summit of Harter Fell, 2140', in thick mist. We walked by compass to Eskdale and reached a well made path on the SE slopes of Eskdale. One member of the group went to the Woolpack and ran & walked to Dale Head in 43 minutes. The rest of us went more calmly and inspected the Roman Fort at Hardknott.pwbellarby29/03/1961
