Solo. From Dodgson Wood car park up permissive path to near Low Parkamoor and then track SSW. Path to Wainwright summit and on to highest point of Top o' Selside. Only a few light showers after several days of heavy rain. Back same way.pwbellarby21/09/2023
With Carol - Park on verge just north of Water Park, near High Nibthwaite. Use track from High Nibthwaite village to the top of Top o’ Selside (1099’) (and second top). Good views of Lake Coniston, and Coniston Range, to the west. Reverse the last ascent and then head to High Light Haw (867’), Low Light Haw (810’) and Brock Barrow (748’). From summit pillar, head east and pick up path to Caws Beck, returning to High Nibthwaite. Hot (27 degrees) and breezy. A great clockwise walk. Navigation, using paths and sheep tracks, generally straightforward.DABT05/09/2023

ACW circuit from road 200 yards N of High Nibthwaite. Head-high bracken, brambles and gorse blocked Wainwright’s route up Buck Barrow, so I followed the path by the wall E and cut up slopes of bracken and scree to the true summit and WO summit at the square cairn. Thereafter, a hugely enjoyable walk through a miniature upland of rock and heather tops: Low Light Haw, High Light Haw, Arnsbarrow S and N, Heel Toe Hill and the true and WO summits of Top O’Selside, returning by the green lane.Nick Down109/09/2020

An insanely busy Coniston water today. Seriously suprised by the volume of people and the embarrasingly poor parking in the actual carpark. Marilyn summit feels lower to me than the cairned proper top. Not sure i buy in to the pedantry of an odd meter. Youd not know if not for the gps. Still, keep putting your blind faith in science..stig_nest28/05/2018

Visited the various summits in the area to make sure I took in all possibilities. Agree that the one without the cairn is slightly higher.Father Ted27/01/2008

Left car in Rigg Wood near lake (13:40) and climbed E through forest. Barrier of fallen trees v hard to cross. Deep steep bracken higher up; better near summit. Returned by same route but avoided fallen trees. Car 14:00 dbb09/09/2006

Started from the car park at just to the north of Dales Wood. Used the permissive path to reach the top of the ridge. From there it was a lovely walk along the ridge above Coniston Water. The summit was one of several bumps.garyhoney08/06/2002

Lovely lovely lovely so says my log. A long cross country solo linear run with plenty of navigation challenge picking the best route between minor wooded tops tops from Grisedale to Newby Bridge: Carron Crag - Top O Selside cluster - east to Finsthwaite Heights & Cartmell Fell. Dropped off and collected by L in hire car who was on a reccee w/e with her friends for a UK 4 peaks women's attempt.Chris Pearson03/09/1995
