From Cheeks Hill, headed north and crossed Buxton Road and the A54. Along quiet country lane and emerged alongside A54, next to the Cat and Fiddle. Bypassed tearoom to north and straight up hill, then down the steep decline and uphill again to the summit. There is a well-placed bench there dedicated to the Park Rangers. A great place to eat a pasty, marked by a trig point (unlike Cheeks Point) and feels like a proper county top. Macclesfield is visible to the west, as well as Manchester on a clear day. | hillbagger91 | 25/08/2022 |

South along ridge over Cats Tor to Shining Tor (lunch stop) and down Stake Side path back to carpark. Hot sunny day, slight breeze. Approx 9.5 miles with 1490 feet ascent. Moving time 3: 33, average speed 2.7mph. | Skip | 08/07/2022 |

After doing the Staffordshire County Top walk in the morning, we decided to do the nearby County Top of Cheshire, around 8 Miles long. Lots of great views from the top and the trig. Very funny me and my cousin watching motorbikes just overtake cars a countless amount of times on that notorious road! Not surprised why lots of crashes unfortunately happen on the cat and fiddle road... | DavidHiner | 07/05/2022 |

7 hr circular walk and non-stop chat from Whaley Bridge with L, & John & Becks. 6 months worth of 'life during Covid' catching up to do. Below snakes the most dangerous road in Britain - the sinuous Cat and Fiddle moorland road linking Macclesfield and Buxton which particularly attracts motorbikers and boy racers- being the closest thing to a TT course in England, and has sadly claimed 250 lives or seriously injured in 9 years - 70% of them motorbikers. Speed limit now 50mph but 80mph+ is apparently common on the long sweeping open stretches. A popular tough cycle challenge as well -although the fear of meeting a motorbike tearing the other way cutting the corners must be a nagging worry. | Chris Pearson | 20/06/2020 |

First visited on a walking tour in 1971, when I walked down the excellent ridge high above the Cheshire plain to Windgather Rocks and stayed in the YH there. Today we started at Pym Chair car pk, so Windgather Rocks was the first top. We then went down to Kettleshulme, up the Goyt Valley, leaving it by the ridge E of Shooters Clough to ascend this summit and finish over Cats Tor. With the 2 Steves. Fine clear weather both days but I can remember the wind rattling the YH when I was a 17 yr old on that first visit. Great walk, repeated with variations 2+ more times since 1980. | pwheeler | 06/09/1980 |

From Cat and Fiddle this hill is a simple walk. The day we first went up it was very VERY windy and upon reaching the trig point we hankered down behind the wall to eat our sandwiches - and I am sure there is a drinks carton that was taken by the wind into the North Sea. | ChinnockC | blank |
