Great January walk from the Rough Tor car park over Showery Tor and Rough Tor. Apart from boggy ground leaving the car park was hard frozen ground which gave good going. Any icy patches were few and far bebeween.KevPalmer16/01/2024

Out and back from Rough Tor car park to end of Brown Willy summit ridge, scrambling up Showery Tor, BW, Rough Tor and Little Rough Tor en route. Bracken high in places and appeared to be prime tick country, caught a couple of the buggers before they could bite! Great views and decent rocky summits with easy terrain in between.southern_rambler18/06/2023

We followed a route from a book which maybe wasn't ideal. From Rough Tor car park, up to Showery Tor, down past the long house and over to the corner of the fence and followed a stone bank. Then we had to climb over a barbed wire fence which was not mentioned in the book! Up to Maiden Tor, then Brown Willy. Back via Little Rough Tor and Rough Tor. On way to Cornwall with J. Glorious day & plenty of folk on the hill. From the FC car park to NW. Over the various tops of Rough Tor noticing two strange small model buildings in sheltered spots a few metres to W below the summit of Showery Tor. Ponies as far as the eye could see! Then followed the faint path down to the De Lank River & up to Brown Willy for a superb view. Retraced steps.NotReallyABagger26/09/2020

Climbed solo. Excellent weather. Dry, mostly sunny with some haze and cloud. Start from Poldue Downs car park. Climbed over Showery Tor. Descend to De Lank River (pathless). Over Maiden Tor to gain north ridge of Brown Willy, and climbed to summit. Kernow's highest point boasts an excellent cairn and viewpoint. Visited south top as well. Returned along good path to De Lank River, before making a direct (but easy) ascent of Little Rough Tor. A short ridge walk south leads to the main summit of Rough Tor, where a little scrambling on boulders is required. Returned to car park at Poldue Downs (slightly rough at first, then easy grassy path). Excellent walk of about 3 hours through some surprisingly good hill country.jamessteel10015/08/2020

An excellent walk from the road end near Camperdown Farm. Room for one car amongst the ponies. Easy track, so you can admire the views of Rough Tor and Brown Willy as you stroll along, then a good easy path follows the wall around the plantations and field systems. There's a handy bridge over the De Lank river. Sadly, it has to join the nasty boggy motorway coming from Poldue and heading to the top, but the views are great all the way.Gill25/01/2018

Started at New Park Farm 171837. Followed bridleway SW past Oldpark to the moorland which was short dry crunchy grass when we visited. Headed direct to summit and then on to Rough Tor. Returned via the SE edge of Rough Tor plantation which has gates through the fences, so Mrs Mindlessflogger was happy. Saw a few lizards but the moors seem over grazed to me and lack the roughness of the Pennine moors.mindlessflogger09/04/2015

Hurrah! My last County Top and a great one to finish on. I'm possibly the first person to have walked around the complete coastline of England and Wales and up to the highest point in each county. Anyways, enough self congratulation and here's to the next challenge. Parked to the NW and nice there and back walk.Father Ted08/09/2012

Top no.8 - the second top during our Appledore holiday. From Appledore to Camelford by car; parked at Poldue Downs car park then followed path via Showery Top to Brown Willy, and back. A delightful walk in fine walking weather apart from some occasional mist on the top. Distance 4.2 miles; climb 1202 feet; time 2.2 hoursalan.65to7009/07/2012

Revisit. Nice summit albeit outclassed by Rough Tor which I'd been to in 2002. This time took track from W: signs are progressively GOMLy. CROW access doesn't seem to have penetrated this far: SSSI: permissive path which seems to come via Rough Tor and is doubtless more scenic, although I followed path back to main track W. Early Sun a.m. no-one about, aother than a couple of other runners on the hill.RHW16/09/2007
