Road verge parking at entrance to Persie Mains. Walk up via tracks through farmyard and beyond rental cottages. The area is undergoing treeplanting. Heather tp with summit at wall corner, then through rough heather to slightly lower trig pillar a KM or so ways.cjo11/03/2024
From Tomlea Farm. Climbed slightly lower Knock of Balmyle 1st before short drop and climb back up to Hill of Persie. Through heather, following line of stone dyke at edge of wood. Highest point at corner of dyke. 2 of 5.Jossker22/12/2023
From A93 lay-by up forest edge. Rough going.PeteF04/10/2023
Parked in large lay-by on A93 at NO 1384 5630. Over gate, across rough pasture then up hill directly to the summit. Steep cliff before summit descended on track over wall in forest. Hot and sticky with swarms of flies! Solo.Dangerous Dave08/07/2023
From the west at Tomlea via Knock of Balmyle.Friendly farmer has created a space for one car 50 metres below the farm at approx NO 102 559 on the right hand side of the track at a new timber fence.Easy going from here.ARM01/02/2023
From Dalrulzion NO 136 572 via forest track to loch. Much wind blow made route finding awkward. Best option is probably to stick to the higher ground to the north (a bit further north than the path shown on the 1:25000 map). Gate on to open hillside to Knock of Balmyle and Hill of Persie.Fife Walking25/09/2022
From a laybe. Crossed barbed wire fence and followed a drainage ditch upwards through poached ground with hidden dips and ankle racking boulders. A blaze of wild flowers. Taken everyone,s advice , i looped round to avoid Persie’s cliffs cleft. Waist highbraken. V interesting geology.VerySlowPlodder30/06/2022
From forest entrance via the loch. The forest is mainly mature and thinned but Arwen had wreaked havoc so windblow made things complicated. On to Knock of Balmyle.sclater03/12/2021
Parked on a wide verge below Tomlea, then walked up the green track to heather slopes leading to the trig and summit rock of the Knock of Balmyle. The continuation to the Hill of Persie takes just long enough to wonder if it was originally the Hill of Persiflage. Sadly, it is pleasant but unexceptional, although it does have a rather lovely tree-shaded summit lochan.Nick Down110/10/2021
1/2 Parked at Distillery, sampled the produce, bought some lovely Gin Liqueur and asked permission to stagger up the hills. We were duly granted permission and duly staggered through the estate to gain access to Hill of Persie followed by Knock of Balmyle, using path through farmstead which then dissects the two hills.nickywood103/07/2021
From layby at NO 1393 5595. Beware massive cliff face to NE (shown on map). Possible to clamber down by forest edge but best avoided. Nice walkcarole engel12/07/2020
After skiing Glenshee. Four inches soft snow on upper slopes. From Persie distillery car park, out and back. Not raining. Rounsfell19/02/2020
Parked at the Persie distillery - folks there seem not to mind. An easy walk up the track past Persie Mains, though somewhat muddy once past the houses. When close to the hill, a right fork leads to the base of the hill and easy sheep trods take you steeply to the top, though watch out for hidden holes. Splendid views. A nice walk.Gill17/01/2020
From Knock of Balmyle via a few sheep trails.summitter19/09/2019
Hard to park along A924 and I did not want to irritate residents at Tomlea so parked at FC Dalrulzion, NO136572. Forest road to unmapped fork at NO119569, at fishing permit sign. On R is a thin wooden post with pink paint - these mark old path, W, to ridge - at windblow I kept R and found a grass track to ridge, then on to summit. Clash More was easy - took it direct, followed An Tx up fence, then ramp up L. Quick and easy looking descent E down edge of forest wasn't, and was much tougher than my route of ascent. Unpleasant walk back on high speed road.Isbjorn08/06/2019
Forest track to Loch Mharaich, round north side of loch, onto Knock of Balmyle then Hill of Persie. Descent south, eventually reaching track.clashcityrocker10/04/2019
Followed track to Loch Mharaich, then to Knock of Balmyle.BLACKHILL26/03/2018

Parked just off main road, taking the road then track past Tomlea. Then along north side of wall over Knock of Balmyle and summit beyond.N.Morters04/10/2017
2 of 3: From A93 roadside at 139559ChrisR15/09/2017
From Knock of Balmyle. Views not as good as from the Knock, because of trees restricting views NW to NE through N. Heather in bloom.ger02/09/2017
Parked below Tomlea Farm at NO 103559, then walked up the track and over rough ground to Knock of Balmyle and on to the summit of Hill of Persie.martin_hall12/03/2017
From the east, P just before the forest. Head for hut circles, some atv tracks from there, otherwise horrible ground. Mist rolling in but clear on return, cold, snow but calm.iangalbraith02/01/2017
Parked at Tomlea with kind permission of the owners. Walked through farmyard and ascended to south side of small plantations to reach a dry stone wall. There is a gap in the wall south west of the Knock of Balmyle trig point. After visiting trig point continued to summit.raffemeister13/12/2016
Weather fair.MountainMac18/07/2016
From A926 via Tomlea.Chris Peart23/05/2016
The Jim Bloomer way. Much easier from West. Park just before Tomlea farm at 260m, then good track and fields to trig top. Short descent to col then summit. Back at car within the hour.nordicstar13/01/2016
Decided to go from the West and this was a nice walk. Parked just before Tomlea farm. Walked to left of cattle sheds on route signed with yellow arrow. Straightforward from there.jenx13/01/2016
Solo, from the E.amswanston05/12/2015
Up the forest track to the loch. Newly felled trees made it difficult to the open ground. Back to the main road parallel to the forest. Not easy, especially through the 'cliffs of doom'.Play2End30/10/2015
Climbed up from the A93 in a WNW direction then off to bag the trig on the TUMP Knock of Balmyle.Dugswell217/10/2015
En route from Manchester to Braemar, from NO 138 563. Rough but dry. Discovered that the 'Clash' near the summit can be negotiated easily by going through the wood. A warm day - trainers were fine for this 1 hour 45 minute walk.Phreerunner25/04/2015
with Knock of Balmyle from the Tomlea road end - some parking.jimbloomer08/04/2015
From forest road end NO136572, up track till bend then across open area to the wall. Up the wall till its stops at the cliff of doom. Cut back into forest to get round cliff then wall to the summit.GmacT14/02/2015
from the lay-by to the east, over wet ground to corner of wall.robertphillips05/12/2014
Parked near Persie Ho and easy walk up to summit.AndrewFinnimore25/09/2014
From latby at 138564. if you keep to S you avoid the worst of the heather etc. Summit at corner of wall. Nice little perch. Thought it was 1,000th, but website has lost one.Thearlaichdubh22/04/2014

Solo. Parked off road at start of track to Dalnabreck. Used track to Muir of Merklands and then a rough track to a small artificial lochan. Up hillside to summit of Knock of Balmyle where there is a trig point. On to Hill of Persie. A wall goes over summit.pwbellarby28/11/2012
Started from where used to be AA phonebox. Followed wall to summit. Bit of a mistake as that involved bog and a surprise crag (really must look at a map before setting off, not just after, mustn't I?) Avoided bog and crag coming down. Well some of the bog. Sure the way past Persie Mains is easier, although longer. The track is longer than the 1:50 map implies.Martin R21/11/2012

Straightforward ascent from A93, following edge of forest, but avoiding the rough ground nearest to it.JohnW29/10/2005
From A93; rough heathery stuff to Summit, on to trig. With the Terrier, Slim Jim and S.The Captain24/05/2003
On faint beaten path by wall bordering the forest. Primroses everywhere. Got view of hill, heather getting thicker and a long detour to south to by-pass a 50' sheer drop at head of stream. Over wire fence and on grassy bits to top at 15.00.arranc19/04/2003
Clamber up through the heather alongside the forest trees from near Blackhall.Eddie26/04/2002
