Trig point and small cairn to east. Loads of new wire lying around on summit. A few new posts going in looks like started work then just gave up. Cloud on summit no views, in truth glad to get off as the fencing is making this peak look a mess. Hope they clear it up. Company: Soloiandesbottes17/11/2023
Creag Mhor & Beinn Stacach circuit from Ballimore. 6 of 7thekirkie pirate08/03/2023
Solo. Round of Creag Mhor and Beinn Stacath on a spectacular wintery bright calm day.alexmaclennan11/12/2022
Through the mist in bright sun, but then back into mist for most of the walk. Dire knee deep quag next to river, but better once on forestry tracks towards summit. Then on to Marilyn Stob Bhreac.davechaffey29/11/2022
Parked at Ballimore. Through the unlocked gate in front of the parking area, keeping the small burn, fence and a herd of cows safely to the right. Joined the track, but soon hopped over the fence to avoid more cows. Over the footbridge by the cow barn, up the grassy hillside avoiding yet more cows to the right. Grassy path emerged going over the first minor summit point 665, followed that over the east top all the way to the summit trig.Owen B23/09/2022
Solo from Ballimore. Set off at 5am in the dark (headtorch) - path was very wet and lost it a few times on the way to the river crossing. It was light by the time I reached the river but the forecasted sun was nowhere to be seen. River crossing was without drama, but the ascent up Stacath was wet - ocassionally in long grass resulting in very wet trousers (and subsequently my boots & socks). Was in clag and drizzle above 500m and it never cleared. Reached the summit trig just over 2hrs after setting off, no views to be had to turned around and returned the way I came. Quicker return resulted in a total time of 3h 45min. Not a route I'd care to repeat.mproudfoot17/08/2022
Solo cycle from Balquidder along S shore of Loch Voil. Left bike at top of track next to small wooden bothy. Ascent via rising traverse of rough hillside to summit. Descent via Allt a Choire Odhair and a set of fabulous waterfalls on the edge of the forest. Definitely worth a visit from this side of the mountain.John Lee18/04/2022
Solo - finally some slow. Clear visibility. A bit of a late start and delays with snow/ice on road, bulls with horns blocking the bridge and a wild river crossing. Made it to the top by about 2:50pm and back to the track before dark.amcculloch08/01/2022
With Sue from small car park at Ballimore, RoW to gate and ascend East Top then shoulder to Beinn Stacach, very hot afternoon after damp cloudy start return to glen and same route out.Frank13/06/2021
From Ballimore, taking route along S side of river (track not too bad), then crossed river near NN512170 to avoid cattle at the river confluence, followed track to barn, crossed back on footbridge, headed up ridge and followed it to summit of Beinn Stacach, continuing N then swinging NE along ridge (following fence line) over Ceann na Baintighearna East Top to Bealach Driseach (fence gives a good line of descent), then up Creag an Fhiog to Creag Mhor, descending SE to obvious track, climbed 2m wooden fence by gate at NN523175, followed track most of the way to Ballimore, before cutting off across rough pasture down to a rusty 2m gate, climbed that, back to Ballimore [several herds of cattle in area, including bulls and calves]kdbennett07/06/2021

From Ballimore along track then the east ridge. Grey cloudy day but dry and clear summit.N.Morters08/07/2020
Parked at the wide track junction 500 yards N of Ballimore. Two deer gates cross the track ahead, the first with a slat missing from the wooden fence to its right, the next with a ladder-like wooden fence to its left. Crossed the river on at the track ford a few hundred yards before the cowshed and made my way on to Beinn Stacach's east ridge, making a circuit of the east top, Beinn Stacach itself, Beinn Bhreac, Taoibh na Coille, TnC south top and Meall Gaothach before cutting back east of TnC and south of Beinn Stacach into Gleann Dubh. Saw a fox lapping from a lochan near BS east top within a few yards of me.Nick Down115/05/2020
As per SMAC Corbetts bookTRG31808/07/2019
from Ballimore, via bridge and pleasant B o Turk path as far as bend, stayed W crossing river easily then up long, rough E ridge. Returned same route, 4.5 hrs. Friday afternoon and hill to self. Views limited in prolonged sleet.niallp10/05/2019
Beinn Stacath from Loch Voil Hostel via good path up Bealach Driseach and over Ceann na Baintighearna. Descended by forest tracks from Coire Odhar.davidpettit8422/04/2019
Plenty of parking 500m north of Ballimore, from which a track leads SW. Before reaching a deer gate a normal gate can be scaled, enabling a pretty straightforward climb to the Creag Mhor ridge. There a couple of false tops before the actual summit s reached, then onwards to Creag an Fhiog. Superb views up and down Loch Voil make up for the boggy Bealach Driseach, from where the ascent to Ceann na Baintighearna takes you to drier ground. Turning south to Beinn Stachach (or whatever you choose to call it) takes you alongside a couple of derelict fences (why don't landowners remove these once defunct?) to a small stone cairn (which I rebuilt) just to the east of the trig. Its all down hill from here, taking in the East top before reaching the bridge over the Allt Fathan Glinne, and an ever expanding track back to the start. Met Pete R back at the car - always nice to say hello to a fellow bagger!summitter30/03/2019
Up from the E. Top. Solo.Dangerous Dave25/02/2019
Lovely day. Snow above 600m. Saw my first skylark this year.iansm24/03/2018
Looked a simple Corbett on map, but in whiteout conditions it became a nightmare. Lost twice, before using a gps to get back to a known spot and then a straight vector up the east ridge. Then spoilt by 2 locked gates on return with high climbing of fences. Loads of stalking signs up in March!Jhimmy11/03/2018
Beinn Stacach and Creag Mhor plus a couple of sub-Tumps(Ceann na Baintighearna East Top,Creag an Fhiog)from parking at bridge E end Loch Voil. Walk along S of loch then good path to bealach Driseach and access to the hills. Good route, this avoids any significant boggy terrain.RobertP27/08/2017
Started from small parking area about a mile along the track beyond Loch Voil hostel. Track then a reasonable combination of fire breaks up to Stob Breac, nicely south along the ridge to An Stuchd across to Taobh na Coille seeing a badger on the way at about 1.00pm in the open then north to Beinn Stacach. In descent missed best line I think due to misplacing my compass, so a bit of a struggle through the trees.dickscroop05/11/2016
A very nice walk from Muirlaggan, on an excellent path to Bealach Driseach. After a bit of bog-bashing and a steep climb, there's a nice ridge with stunning views, which joins on to the main summit ridge at Ceann na Baintighearna. Unfortunately, the views then disappeared into mist, and the walk along the ridge was cold, wet and exceedingly windy for August. The trig point is perfectly angled to provide not even the slightest hint of shelter from a westerly, so I had to wait until back at Bealach Driseach for my summit cup of tea :-(Gill13/08/2016
Solo fr Balquhidder, long track on S of loch & up valley in trees to W of hill into Coire Odhar SW of hill then along fence to top. Started walking as L ankle sore after long excursion g28, rested g29, but eased into jogging and it was ok. Windy w showers coming in, but interesting views of unusual angles of familiar hills esp Crianlarich hills, though they had cloud on tops. Prospect of shower made me jog briskly N then NE/E along fence down long ridge, dreading old path in plantation...NorfolkPT2130/07/2016
Camped on the summit. Great weather and amazing sunrise. Tricky walk in with fairly steep parts with no obvious path.Stevend128/05/2016

From Ballimore, following the south side of the Calair Burn until reaching the bridge which led to the broad east ridge and then up to the pillar on the summit. Clear conditions throughout.Windy Corner25/05/2015

forecast for the weekend was not great so had decided against Ben Alder; I stopped to buy a sandwich and cinnamon bun at Tesco in Callander; onwards to Balquiddher and then Ballimore farm. I looked at the landrover track north of the Allt fathan Glinne, but it was barred by a high gate with 'Private Deer Park; deer are sensitive notice'. Instead i took the Right of Way towards Brig O'Turk, the track was sketchy and very boggy, I crossed the burn by a bridge beyond the cattle shed and headed across broken ground with multiple morraine hillocks onto the ridge. The route along the ridge was rough and tiresome, the summit seemed to be a long way off; I reached the summit at 1423, perhaps almost 3 hours from the car (ie slow), but returning more or less the same way I was back down in 2 hours 20 mins; the right of way was unimpressive and the notice about the deer park lacked credibility given the absence of any visible deer and the gaps in the fencing at the other end, it seems more about langskill08/06/2014
