Solo. Snowy, cold conditions with drifting snow lying in the estate tracks. You can park by a gate without blocking at 928256. Start down the track towards Auchterteang and carry on, taking the right turns at estate track junctions as per the OS map. There is an ATV track which leaves the estate track heading wet to the summit with trig point. Return the same way.DampandDusty29/12/2023
From Auchterteang on landrover tracks. Then ATV track to the summit / trig Carn Glas-Choire. Straight forward for me as I was paying attention to where I was going. However, walking companion overshot the ATV turnoff in poor visibility and carried on walking on the landrover track. Was heading for the edge of the map into the abyss and here be dragons territory. Descended over Carn nan Eagan with no further incidents. Not the nicest of days with low cloud and dampness. Last hour of walk out was in rain. Ancrum Mountaineering Club Christmas Meet at based Milehouse, Kincraig.Fife Walking09/12/2023
With E. From estate road leading to Auchterteang then continuing on tracks past Garrocher. Where track comes alongside head of Allt Glas-choire there is now an unmarked track heading SW, over peat ground then becoming a stone track leading to summit and trig point. Return same route. Saw no-one. We had the hill to ourselves with weather dry and cloudless.Beeliner07/09/2023
Mostly by bike, obvious route. Parked in forestry entrance on main road. Cold, overcast but no showers. Sunny on descent. En route Torridon to Edinb. Rounsfell25/07/2023
Parked at 929258. Normal route through Auchterteang up good tracks. Plenty of wildlife including hares, lapwing, curlew, cuckoo, an unidentified small grey bird of prey and an unidentified much larger grey bird of prey, possibly an osprey? Wall to wall sunshine, calm, very dry underfoot, slightly hazy views to the northern Cairngorms. A surprisingly good short outing before the long drive home.Owen B29/05/2023

From Tom nan Gabhar, walked NW to bend in road, followed road uphill for a bit then over to summit.187lenny02/04/2023
Room for a couple of cars ~125m up the track to Auchterteang, at the cattle grid and the 'No Unauthorized Vehicles Beyond Here' sign. Estate are happy at walkers parking here. Good estate track leads up. Tom nan Gabhar first then across to here. On to Carn Loisgte, Creag a Bhainne, Carn nan Eagan and return for a 19k round.jonglew20/03/2023
Cold stiff WSW wind sending showers across Cairngorms but I stayed dry; easy jog up LRT took 1h 5m up, 50m down.NorfolkPT2101/11/2022
With Cnapan a’ Choire Odhair Mhoir. Parked at a handy spot just south of the track from Auchterteang. Biked in, decent enough track for that. Left bike at the split 1km from the green hut. Then walked a circular walk back to the bike. stunning views of the high gorms. Tons of wildlife on these.hils05/08/2022

Parked at forest track entrance on B9007 (NH928258), walked briefly N then turned into Auchterteang track, passed the buildings and followed tracks up hill to the watershed at NH912300, then W along ridge top, as near as possible, going up to the rocky summit of Cnapan a' Choire Odhair Mhoir, continuing on to Carn Glas-choire, joining a rough ATV track for last part of the ascent, descending back on that track and down to join outward track back to road (4h45m)kdbennett12/03/2022

Parked forestry entrance (now widened) at 929258. Biked past Auchterteang, now occupied, as far as junction at 906284, with skill it should be possible to bike to nearly the summit. Sun and snow plus a cold wind. Superb views.iangalbraith22/05/2021

Here for the trigpoint. TP:UK log: Been on the to do list for far too long and lockdown forced me into it as it was my closest unbaked trig. Chose a very hot day but we both enjoyed being out in the fresh air. Great views. Good track nearly all the way from B9007. Parked in lay-by across the road from track in the Grantown direction.thejackrustles14/07/2020
Parked along Auchterteang track by cattle grid. Followed estate tracks to coll NE OF summit. Had a good wander around summit area. V high winds, frequent heavy horizontal snow showers difficult to stand at top.CJM22/02/2020

From B9007. Cnapan a' Choire Odhair Mhoir, Carn Glas-choire, Carn nan Eagan. Cold, snow on tops.RobertP30/10/2018
An easy walk via Auchterteang, parking along the track, over the cattle grid by some sand heaps. The views from the top are splendid, and the summit is covered in lichen. The track has been upgraded all the way to the highest junction and the going is very easy and ugly. The RH branch goes way up the hill, where SSE are doing something nasty but you take the LH branch, which has been extended right over the moor. There is a nasty caterpillar track heading off from this almost to the summit. Why is it that people who want to slaughter grouse and deer have lost the use of their legs? There is a handy hut part way up the track, very useful for sitting out torrential downpours.Gill23/09/2018

Local informants suggest parking 200m down the track to Auchterteang, (small metal shed on my visit), and starting the walk from there. Up the track, right fork, due N over two tops of Crag na h-Iolarie. Rejoin track, and ridge W to summit.Minto09/06/2018

With Dave Roeder. From road (8:35) took estate track past Auchterteang to high point near 912301, then along broad ridge (mostly short heather) to top. Back via more direct track (which now crosses ridge). Overcast, some drizzle. Finish 12:50dbb22/04/2018

MMC Aviemore Day 2. Rob W, Nick H, Jon M and I Roadside by Auchterteang along tracks almost to the trig. Snowy fresh dry day.alexmaclennan04/03/2018
From SW, 2km up track on bike until it got too boggy, and very soon too steep. Mainly track but 'leggy' heather for final section. A wet and increasingly windy day made it not too pleasant but better than the overnight storms and than the forecast.dickscroop17/10/2017
Biked in past Auchterteang from minor road to East. Paused in green hut. left bikes nearby. Track to col(track continues on) then quad tracks, through dry peat hags, to summit cairn and trig. Great views. With the F.C and S.The Captain22/06/2017

With Peterb. Usual route from Auchterteang. Followed the track to the high point then headed up snow covered slopes to summit. Zero visibility on top and quite significant snow fall and wind. Retraced steps to return.bowlesy02/01/2017
Parked at the forestry access near Auchterteang and walked via the estate track before striking up to the summit for the final 500 metres or so. We had decent views for most of the way though visibility was poor at the summit. Ankle deep snow at the top didn't present any difficulties. With ChrisPeterb02/01/2017

Good track most of the way up from Auchterteang, although the last stretch was boggy and not much fun. Lots of hares near the top. Very windy at the top. Weather closed in quickly and fairly wet by the time I got back to the car.killiedaft02/07/2013

Parked at entrance to block of forest, 300 m S of Auchterteang track. Space, but wouldn't advise on a working day. Nice over meadows, tried to follow interesting route over Creag na h-Iolaire but this didn't work well.I think it best to use the many hill tracks and accept this isn't such wild land anymore. Still a rough finish with some peat hags- and sight of a Hen Harrier. A race against worsening weather- no summit view. Usable weather, though.pwheeler21/06/2012
