Carn na Saobhaidhe with John from Dumnaglas (B851). Fairly easy-going route following road/track all the way to the summit. After crossing the Allt Uisg an t-Sidhean, we encountered ice and snow which increased in depth as we gained height. Reached the Diamond Jubilee hut and took 10 mins to check it out before ascending the final 150m or so to the summit. Returned back down to the hut and had some lunched then retraced our steps back to Dumnaglas. Total time pretty much bang on 6h.mproudfoot13/01/2024

From Coignafearn parking (NH7111180), cycled along track to Dalbeg, continued walking along R Findhorn, then up a finely graded track E along R Eskin, finally across the moor to summit(s) of Càrn na Làraiche Maoile, descended NNE then up over summit of Càrn a' Choire Sheilich, descending NE to col, then NE to the South Top, then N to summit of Carn na Saobhaide, descending initially on track ENE, then SE over bog to upper streams of Allt Odhar, following that to the head of the track at NH619134, down to Dalbeg, cycled back to Coignafearn (7h35m [6h from Dalbeg])kdbennett14/05/2022
From Garthbeg via windfarm tracks with Struie and Rhona. Warm day, no wind but previously drifted snow and a ghillie who asked us to put the dog on a lead. Panoramic views from the top, esp to the north.DampandDusty10/04/2022
From Garthbeg, lots of parking. Over bridge, right at the first building, follow track to where it rejoins the windfarm road. Follow road to bridge at 570134, go left or up the middle (old) track and all the way to the mast. Biked, except for some snow drifts. Sunny and warm.iangalbraith27/03/2022
Relentless SW gale into my face throughout the ascent but the generally easy angle of the track makes it very runnable; 3h 5m up and down.NorfolkPT2127/10/2021
From the car park at Coilnafearn. L+ectro up to 633135 where I left it close to the waterfall. Followed the burn going NW, wet but generally ok underfoot. Walked over all possible high points. Its ironic that with all the wind turbines and access roads created near to the summit, the air is now polluted with diesel fumes from the generator at the mast. Great views! 18.5 miles in 4 and a half hours return with the bike ride back being very fast and enjoyable. Sunny despite the poor forecast. Solo.bolton24/10/2021

Dunmaglass route out and back. Dry, bright, mild but SW winds forecast around 30mph with stronger gusts and increasing during the day so legged it round. Turned out to be a good choice for the conditions, approaching from the north provided some shelter. Got into a good rhythym and enjoyed it. Hut at 680m was unlocked, a good place for a breather. Loads of red kites around Dunmaglass.Owen B21/09/2021

MTB from Foyers campsite via Dunmaglass and wind farm track, then via old estate track to summit in very high winds (Why do they build wind farms here?). Traversed summit on foot (250m). Descent to West via wind farm track to Garthebeg and campsite at Foyers. 50km 1200m ascent. Long day.John Lee14/06/2021
Strath Nairn (605246) then following track to Drumglass Lodge, Allt Uisg an_t-Sidhein, junction (602161) & Carn na Saobhaidhe. Return by same route. Fine dry mild with sunny periods.Vin12/06/2021
Turbine-tasctic monotonous walk from Garthbeg. Started with a long, dusty road to Carn na Saobhaidhe (604m) then Carn na Saobhaidhe (811m). So dull they named it twice. There-and-back to Carn Mhic lamhair, NW to Beinn Bhuraich, down to Meall a' Bhuailt, and homeward bound via Beinn Mheadhoin and Carn Choire Riabhaich. Okay in sunny, dry conditions. Would be horrible if wet and overcast as minimal visual and topographical interest. 7 hrs.summitter05/06/2021
Climbed with Richard and Tim. Hot and sunny day. Late start after breakfast in Fort Augustus then dinner stop on way back at White Bridge hotel (awesome food and drink!)amcculloch02/06/2021

From Strathdearn past Coignafearn Lodge and Dalbeg. Lovely glen which feels very remote all the way in until you reach the summit and see diesel generators and telephone mast and multiple wind turbines with their motorway-width access tracks. As others have said, stay with the streams from the end of the track and the ground isn't really too bad.benalder28417/06/2018

From north, track to Dunmaglass. Track is good all the way to the summit, but two diversions at 600m around fords in spate, followed by snow pack cover, prevented me from cycling higher. Showers amounted to much more than predicted by MWIS. A modern cabin at 700m was unlocked.Topographer5720/04/2018
Glorious day. Cycled in from Drumnaglas as far as snow line, then walked. Windfarm road steep in places, tough climbing but very fast descent. Lots of hare, mostly still in winter coats.douglas_easton14/04/2018

A nice round from Dalbeg bothy though weather was miserable. Two sections of track and following streams as much as possible meant ground not too bad except for section after main summit. Carn Mhic Lamhair(Ct), Carn na Saobhaide(C), Beinn Bhuraich(Ct), Meall a Bhuailt(Gt) and a diversionon the way back to Carn na Saobraidhe E top.dickscroop30/06/2017
Fourth visit, on TGO Challenge as previously. Wind farm not as intrusive as I'd feared. South to Carn GearresithColin Crawford17/05/2017
From Coignafearn; what an amazingly beautiful valley. Rode the bike up to the bothy, but the landrover track continues up the hill. It seemed that the only sensible thing to do was ride ‘im cowboy. A small amount of pushing and some mildly technical riding got me to the end of the track. Very pleasant, easy walking following the stream up the hill, and only a small number of peat hags to negotiate higher up. It’s not entirely clear that the cairn is at the highest point, so I wandered around a bit just to make sure. Splendid views west, but what a shame it’s spoiled by wind turbines. The descent proved the wisdom of putting some effort into the cycling on the way up. Very fast and great fun, and not entirely under control in places.Gill06/05/2017

Parked by telephone box taking tracks almost all the way to Carn Mhic Iamhair, then Carn na Saobhaidhe. Summit of Saobhaidhe very flat with cairn plus the high point and other near-candidates. Continued to Beinn Bhuraich, Meall a'Bhuailt and Beinn Dubhcharaidh, descending N a short way to pitch tent. Fine sunny day made this a surprisingly pleasant route. Easy descent down to the Glen and starting point.RobertP08/04/2017

Revisit for 3 Sims and a HuMP. From N, Dunmaglass, big wide track in prep for 35 turbine wind farm, then older track, fording deepish burn 4x before leading almost to summit. Saw the DOBIH notes about 2 summit contenders other than the slightly lower cairn. I found a fourth one (remains of old cairn by little pool) to add to the collection. With a friend. From Garthbeg, at SW end of Loch Mhòr. Walked up track going SE not far from River E. My map (1989 Ed 1:50,000 OS) shows the track ending at a ruin. The track now extends a good deal further, going eastwards. We left the track and struck up hillside (not at all steep) to reach summit of Carn na Saobhaidhe. Returned same way. Weather was good. It was cold and there was some snow, but not all that much. There were good views of the Glen Affric hills, Mullardoch, Strathfarrer and the Cairngorms.pwbellarby18/11/2005

Long walk from Strathdearn and Coignafearn Old Lodge. First 3km are amazing, just follows a track in a dead straight line! Then past huge new shooting 'lodge'. Pretty boring hill, only other point of interest being it's the headwaters of the River 'E' - must be shortest river name in Britain!Aye Jimmy27/07/2002

Cairngorm Club weekend meet at Newtonmore. Solo. From at Coignafearn (Old Lodge). Walked along the track to Coignafearn Lodge. I saw a feral goat family (mother, father, one kid). Continued on the track to Dalbeg and followed the track westwards on the slopes above Allt Creagach. At the top of the first rise a track, not shown on the map, goes off NE. The track I followed is shown as a footpath on my 1:50,000 map, but is a land rover track. I went to the top of Meall a' Phiobaire and followed a line of old fence posts, to begin with, and then to the summit of Carn Mhic Iamhan. On the summit is an ancient cairn. I continued to reach summit of Carn na Saobhaidhe. I went southwards passing an ancient cairn, marked on map. This looked like a small burial cairn, with a collapsed entrance. I continued to Carn a' Choire Sheilich and Carn na Làraiche Maoile.pwbellarby22/03/1997
