Park NH44931268, space for 2/3 cars in a designated parking area just off the road. Follow good forest track for approx 0.8 Km to NH44151257. Take track that forks left, steeply up hill through a couple of hairpins. I continued up the track, steeply in places, to approx NH43891189, where I scrambled up west off the track to follow a shallow depression, through dead bracken (it was March). Continued looking for the easiest line following occasional animal tracks to summit cairn. Ground was a bit rough, but much better than some low Scottish hills. Return broadly the same route. Amateur radio for Summits on the Air. Saw herd of goats in with the sheep. Superb viewpoint along Loch Ness.geralddavison16/03/2024

From S.Top. Superb views of Nessie and goats. Returned to Ft Augustus by recently constructed S.Ness track.lordtonult28/02/2023
Solo. Cracking weather after recent winds!garbo110316/11/2022
Over from south top. Returned to road via forest. Met some goats on the way. Was harder than the heather crossing.Adrian06/09/2022
From parking area at start of track by Loch Knockie (NH449126), over stile, followed track W past Loch nan Lann, took side track at NH441125, climbing a locked gate ('Angus Road'), and followed that track up to the height of the road, then up steep slopes to NW, and worked around the various knolls to the summit, descended directly E into a gully and down to the road at NH438118, thence back to parking area (2h25m)kdbennett15/04/2022
Solo trip. Took the route recommended by Malky C and Jaxter on WalkHighlands and very good it was too. Very windy with light showers.Invicta1414/06/2021
From viewpoint over Carn an t-Suidhe. Then headed back to forestry fence which was followed to corner. From there up to PT 512 and along ridge to summit. Great views down the glen.garyhoney20/07/2020
Followed Gill's route, although not straightforward once off main track due to thickening snow and mist. Given the conditions we settled for a there-and-back.summitter01/03/2020
From Carn an t-Suidhe and following the fence against the devastated forest to 433108. Headed directly to the summit. What a great view of the rift valley from the summit! From the Moray firth to way down Loch Lochy. Not bad underfoot. Just over 2 hours 20 minutes solo.bolton16/02/2019
Solo, from Loch Knockie.amswanston25/05/2018
A very good walk from the forest road starting by Loch Knockie. Branching off onto the hill track requires you to climb a padlocked deer gate, although access legislation makes this illegal, it's easy. The track upwards is excellent, soft, mossy surface most of the way, through lovely trees. Being dependent on map and compass, I chose a simple route up this rather complex hill. I followed the track to the high point, then up a deer track onto a sloping shelf below crags. I scampered up grass in a bouldery gully, but there's no point, the shelf takes you round to the hill more easily. Weave around a couple of bumps, then a narrow path leads to the top, with fine views of Loch Ness and the Monadhliath.Gill30/03/2018

From Loch Tarff. South Ness Way helps at the start but soon veers off. After that it's rough and trackless with some complex topography higher up. Splendid views of Loch Ness but being a non drinker I did not see any monsters.Topographer5709/08/2017

With Alistair and Margaret. Track at en end of road into forrest. Track up onto hill through fence. Takes you up a bit. Don't go too early! Right hand side of top quite steep.tallblond03/07/2016
Bagged whilst travelling north. Carried Seumas all of the way up and down. Parked at NH 449 105 and used the new path to reach the summit of Carn an t-Suidhe before descending in a north westerly direction to the cairn at the edge of formerly forested area. Followed the fence line around to NH 433 108 then headed to the summit via 512m lump. Great views along Loch Ness from the summit. Stayed dry but was slightly overcast.assynt_bob21/04/2016
A good hill with great views of the loch. Saw some wild goats ear the summit.jenx04/02/2016
From road by Loch Knockie to East. Track leads off and then a further track not shown on 1:50k up the hill beside forest. At GR 44023 12233 a further tracklesds off 100m into the hillside. From here possible to cut into a drainage line and easy to top in just over an hour with increasing interest. hrrat views down Loch Ness.nordicstar04/02/2016
from road end to NE, then follow track which cuts corner of forest, to bealach , then summit. Great view point for monster watchingThearlaichdubh14/08/2015
From parking area at NH42863 09700 by Loch Tarff. The GPS file I recorded says I wiggled around a bit on this one. Route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/five-that-was-surprise.htmlGayle11/05/2015

With GHC from Loch Knockie and track, before heading across the heather. Many false tops before a windy view of the Great Glen from the 555m top.Play2End28/03/2015

Parking at top of road, over Carn an t-Suidhe, a nice ridge, then trackless heather bog and rock- a rough walk with false summits at the end. Perched over Loch Ness- views from top, but cloud was filling in the Great Glen while Monadh Liath Corbetts were all clear. Tracks through felled forest were easier for part of the return but still a fair bit of trackless ground. 3h walk, 2nd 'Whitebridge Marilyn' of an unsettled day when this area got away with better weather than most.pwheeler18/05/2014
Parked at eastern end of Loch Tarff, followed series of deer paths and gully's, found it useful to edge around the eastern flank of 512m top then meander around a few pretend summits up to real summit. May be quite tricky to do this in cloud!Columba09/11/2013

Passing newly felled trees by road side on new track up hillside for 300' Upward sloping green area amidst rocks to open area with many craggy tops vying for top. Final trek through heather and bog to top at 13.45. Loch Ness full length. Grouse family, only mother stayed behind with dragging wing, etc.arranc11/07/2002
