Solo. A different ascent from pretty much everyone else on t'internet and Strava. Start on windfarm track at 201074 on A87 (just enough room to park x1 car). Wend yr way up, using the windfarm tracks (not to everyone's taste!) to the last one at Carn Tarsuinn. Quite a wiggly route. Just a short distance cross country to the summit cairn. Lovely sunny, still day. Great, snowy views all round.DampandDusty07/01/2024

Parked by lay-by opposite the wind farm access road and followed the road up onto the moors before cutting across wet moorland to broad summit ridge to the top. Actual top is a short distance south from the cairn. Very windy and visibility poor at higher levels. With NP and JK.kenmorti29/10/2023
With K and J. Windy and cool, feeling damp but only the one brief shower all day. Views very limited by low cloud. Bonus was that we didn’t see much of the turbines either. Route from point 132 in GlenMoriston very efficient despite some boggy stretches. Less than 5 hours and we weren’t exactly motoring. Big cairn on top but true summit close by and marked by some stones.niallp29/10/2023
Circuit from main road. 4 of 5thekirkie pirate29/05/2023
Dropped bike at start of track (northern side road bridge - grassy track to gate with distinct track through felled forest) NH 2110 0851. Parked car in layby (one both sides road) NH 2365 1122. Walked back on road (SW) to windfarm entrance and followed tracks to waterfall marked on map at NH 253 103. Easy climb up to Beinn an Eoin, Meall Dubh, Carn Dearg. Dropped down to to mapped track at NH 209 078. Deep, straw like grass lower down - would not recommend route in reverse.carole engel09/05/2023
With Mark Wright. MTB from Mackenzies Cairn to top turbine. Walk just over 1km to top.John Lee03/05/2023
Solo from layby on A887. Followed wind farm access road up to around 350m and then followed a rougher track from there to just past the Allt Creige Deirge where I then set off ssw over the moorland aiming up to point 745, which I skirted around before heading up to the summit. All clagged over above 700m so just tapped the jumbo cairn and then moved over to a smaller cairn on what appeared to be higher ground (the actual summit?). Returned the way I came, including a wee semi-jog back down the windfarm access track - total time 2h 53min.mproudfoot12/11/2022
after Beinn Loinne. Through the windfarm maze from the west.jef20/05/2022
4 of 5: From Carn Dearg. Followed old iron posts back east till due south then up. Just about to leave when the cloud cleared. Fortunate not to be 5mins ahead. With Karen.ChrisR11/11/2021
Standard route out and back from the layby on the A887 opposite the wind farm track access. Cloud base about 700m asl, strong westerly wind at the summit, dry.Owen B24/09/2021
#676 Traverse from Loch Loyn to Bridge of Oich via the wind farms.tim74716/09/2021
Parked at the large entrance to the wind farm track and Power Station on the A887 west of Mackenzie's cairn. Followed the Beinneun Forest track for about 6km to its highest point south of Clach Criche. Fairly easy bone-dry ground once off the track to the summit cairn, and likewise on to Carn Dearg and Carn Tarsuinn, although may be more difficult in wetter conditions. Continued on to Meall Dubh, which possesses a very fine large cairn close to the summit, then down to the lower Beinn an Eoin. Crags protect its northern slopes, so we went NW towards Allt Ghormaig, crossing a couple of deer fences and newly planted woodland before regaining the initial access track. About 4hrs round.summitter27/08/2021
From entrance to wind farm (NH202074). Carn Ban, Meall Dubh, Carn Tarsuinn, Carn Dearg (both summits) & Clach Criche. Used wind farm roads along with pathless terrain. With Bolton.ger15/07/2021
Parked at windfarm entrance - 202074. Walked the track to 223062 going across rougher ground, back onto track to 244070 and then north to the summit with Ger.bolton15/07/2021
From bottom of wind farm track at NH202074. Up track to NH210062, across stream to turbine, up track to next turbine then cross country to NH219063. Up track to corner at NH224061 then ENE over ridge to turbine. Track NE below Carn Tarsuinn then easy ground to summit. Back mostly the same way but cutting across Coire nam Brach instead - boggier than upward route!davidpettit8425/10/2020

Climbed with Richard, started early from DMC New year meet. Fairly clear and cold in morning then became wet with poor visibility. Windy, Snowing and white out on top!. Drive back to Dundee afteramcculloch02/01/2018
77th – With Allan. From layby on A887 near bridge over Allt an Eoin. Follow track in and out of wood to bridge over Allt an Eoin. Head S then SW to reach col between Beinn an Eoin and Meall Dubh. Ascend S to reach summit. Return via outward route. Cold, dry day. Track seriously iced over. Underlying snow from 450m. Restricted visibility above col.RGibbs02/01/2018
MMC Tulloch Station WE. Solo following WH directions. Cycled in. Missed top in low cloud as GPS lost its mapping. Found summit passing several spooky wind turbines. 4 hoursalexmaclennan09/04/2017
fa,3 in party, club meet, windy, fresh snow on the ground from around 500m, snow and hail showers, 12.99km, from a887, wind farm tracks, then by a burn into coire an eoin, right to the back and up onto the summit area with its cairn, visited a couple of other rises as the cairn seemed to be slightly down hill from them, retuned same way.rum doodle 22/02/2017
Up and down from Glen Morriston on a very cold crisp day. This hill is now effectively an industrial site with wind farms, run of river hydro and pylons and all that goes with these - tracks, outbuildings etc. Great views from the top if you can ignore the mess.benalder28405/11/2016
Clockwise route from the parking area on the A887 directly opposite the gate giving access to the hill. On own.MorecambeMonkey30/10/2016
A thorough exploration of the hill from Invergarry. My route followed the Aldernaig burn up through the woods, round the very lovely Loch Lundie, up an old path to the Allt Lundie (uncrossable in spate), and up the E side of the river (with great waterfalls) to the wind farm. Good sheep tracks make the going easy. Along the wind farm track over Mam a Chroisg in heavy rain and sleet, and then along an old fence and over some bumps to the lovely summit plateau, with fine views. Down the wind farm track towards Meall nan Calman, then rough stuff for a short while, followed by good sheep tracks contouring around the head of the little streams. I picked up the old path near the top and then found an argocat track back to the Loch. This is a hill to bag now before it disappears under a tide of encroaching renewables schemes. There is a second wind farm under construction to the W and a hydro scheme at Loch a'Bhainne.Gill01/07/2016

Cairngorm Club Easter meet, actually held 1 week before Easter. It was based at Spean Bridge Hotel. The weather was not good so spent the morning chatting and drinking coffee. With a fellow member I ascended Meall Dubh, starting near the dam of Loch Loyne. The outward route was via minor tops of Clach Criche, Carn Dearg and Carn Tarsuinn. We then followed fence posts (on boundary). The fence does not go to the summit of Meall Dubh as the boundary does so we found ourselves in the mist having gone too far east. We retraced our steps and reached the summit. We descended a more direct route.pwbellarby09/04/1995
