Same route as Campbell Singer. Chilly wind and occasional snow/hail flurries. Fantastic views. | Lindsay M | 03/03/2024 |

From masts pull in on A 896 on a clear cool calm day. Snow above 500 metres. Beorgeous. Husband worked out best way through steep sections and crags. | VerySlowPlodder | 25/02/2024 |
Done after the Meall na Caillichs of Sgurr a'Gharaidh. From the masts car park and more or less straight to the top wending round An Ruadh-Bruach and the various wee outcrops. Great views to Bhan, Torridon and particularly the Coulin hills. | StueyB | 04/11/2023 |
With Brian from the Mast CP. Rain and mist, no view | Play2End | 09/06/2022 |
Parked on wide verge at NG846483, headed W to a stream valley, followed that SW to near the head of the valley (ca NG842476), then NW across a ridge to the near the high point of a valley in front of An Staonach (ca NG836480), then worked up the sandstone terraces to the summit plateau and across to the summit, returning roughly same way (2h) | kdbennett | 02/05/2022 |
With J on an early evening ascent on a warm, sunny day. Parked at the high point of A896. There is space for about 3 cars at back of passing place. Headed towards the prominent notch on the L of the line of crags, then turned E passing 2 minor lochans & weaving around the easily avoided craglets to reach the summit - a cracking viewpoint. Descended by the same route. At the lower of the lochans, very lucky to come across a pair of black throated divers which took off after a few minutes. | NotReallyABagger | 27/05/2021 |
W Malky and Jackie after summit camp on a’Gharaidh. Very hot, still, sunny day. Rough walk against grain of landscape. | Rounsfell | 16/08/2020 |
Parked due East of the hill on A896, then just climbed the hill avoiding the rocky ledges. Easier going up than down as you cannot see the little cliffs from above. Beautiful view across to the Applecross peninsular and Beinn Bhan. | Simon Winton | 21/03/2020 |
A quick up and down from the roads high point. | Peterb | 30/10/2019 |
From layby/old road 84632 48499.Through notch at 841481 on An Ruadh-Bruach then through rocky bands to summit. Descended SE to avoid crags and weaved through crags. Back at car and on to Ben Shieldaig. | NormanW | 28/10/2019 |
From road just before high point up easy but steepening slopes and the odd rock step. Cloudy summit no views above 400m. Onto Ben Shieldaig | N.Morters | 10/08/2019 |
Up from high point on road on a fine day. As mentioned elsewhere the fish farm track on map does not appear to exist, certainly it does not appear to join road. Fine stony summit. | willyross | 28/06/2019 |
Here's an easy way, with a bit of zig zagging. Park at the high point on the road, where there's a pull in next to a passing space. Contour up below crags to join the stream and follow it SSW until below An Ruadh-bruach. Keep following the stream on the W side up to the watershed, then cut W over the low ridge between the two streams (which flow into the Allt Meallan Gobhar below). After crossing the ridge, head N a little way up the second stream and cross the stream at a flat boggy section, where there's a crag to the E and a tiny waterfall to the W, very roughly 839474. Head W over 2 easy rock bands onto a flat section, above which is a sort of ridge giving an easy way onto the ridge, then stroll to the top. | Gill | 06/04/2019 |
From the east, starting at road HP. | Topographer57 | 05/06/2018 |
From roadside (NG 8299 5135) with Steves Smith & Lewis. The 4 Ben Shieldaig hills first. Dropped to the road at NG 8370 5013. Picked up a faint track until hitting the main path at NG 8364 4965. Nice rocky top, best of the day. | jonglew | 11/02/2018 |
Parked at the start of the road to Inchnadamh Lodge.. Followed the burn up towards Loch Meallan Gobhar and then turned north west and up easy slopes to the rocky top. Great viewpoint. | Campbell Singer | 24/10/2017 |
4 of 4: From A896 at 848481 | ChrisR | 18/09/2017 |
Parked at high point on road. Up the ridge line then a direct route to top threading then stone outcrops. Undulating ground. Better to park further down toeards Shieldaig and climb up through the coire. | nordicstar | 17/08/2016 |
Rocky steps much of the way up. Easier but less interesting route down. | jenx | 17/08/2016 |
self (at Newton) | davidsbatty | 22/05/2016 |
MC JC O. From high point in road through shallow, broken cliff bands. Very wet underfoot. Grey day but stayed dry. | Martin66 | 17/11/2015 |
Great view from this hill | tallblond | 07/05/2015 |
from high point on road up to small lochan then through crags to the summit. | robertphillips | 15/11/2014 |
Track shown on map from A896 to fish farm not apparent on the ground. Parked in layby at NG84632 48499. The hill well defended by crags which can all be bypassed or tackled as whimsy allows. | Martin R | 27/09/2014 |
From the east. Track to fish farm on map doesn't exist! | AndrewFinnimore | 10/05/2014 |
With Mora, from the A896 to East | BLACKHILL | 06/04/2013 |
Steeply uphill over dry deer grass to cross dips involving several downs as well as ups, scrambling through 5 or 6 sandstone cliff-lets to boiler plate covered sandstone top. Many cairns. Highest boulder had a few stones in a heap on top. 10.30. | arranc | 05/06/2009 |
Overcast, good views, shattered top, visited lots of bits, checked coords with gps. | iangalbraith | 12/06/2008 |
