This is my West Sussex completion and quite a nice high point to finish on. A delightful sort of circular walk from small car park at (SU 92265 29070) up to the Temple of the winds (which is a lovely viewpoint), followed by small winding paths to the trig, then small tracks to pick up the bridleway at (SU 92035 29706) which delivered me on a gentle descending path back to the car park.DC11main02/01/2023
From small NT car park in Quell Lane to the SE, short steep climb to the Temple of the Winds and along to the trig point/knoll. Wonderful views S at the Temple.richard6906/10/2022

Did Black Down on the same day as Leith Hill, two County Top Summits. A very easy but fun county top to do. Went to a mound near the Trig which was probably the highest point of the hill and West Sussex.DavidHiner30/11/2021
Ascended from Haslemere via Tennyson's Lane. Gentle ascent along forested paths to the summit, which has a nice wild feel to it. Views to the west in the autumn sunset were very attractive.hillbagger9115/11/2021
Long loop from Chiddingfold. Lovely hill and views.twg2704/10/2021

From NT car park at 924291, at top of Quell Lane, up good path steeply to view point then with GPS was easy to find trig.on paths through vegetation. Did mini 2 Mike circuit following path that heads SW towards Reeth, then marked path parallel to road, past Hall then down Lane and road to car. Loads of good paths up there to pick your route. Lovely views from ridge.JulieB05/09/2021

Parked in Tennyson's Lane. A bit hazy in the Temple of the Winds, but could still make out the top of Chanctonbury Ring in the distance. Came back via the Serpents trail. Good view of RAF Oakhanger through binoculars on the Western side of the hillsconnolly0104/04/2021
Marilyn 600 and entry to Relative Hills Society Hall of Fame. Beautiful forestry and great views through the haze.ketzster31/03/2021

Wet and muddy walk to Black Down before work.peter_tun14/12/2020
Chilly morning muddy stomp from the car park on Tennyson's Lane. Trig point easy to find, great (surprisingly open) views from the summit despite some light mist. Temple of the Winds well worth a stop. Made it a circuit back via the Serpent Trail and Pen-y-Bos track on the West of the ridge.jkl22/11/2020
Parking for 5-6 vehicles where Quell Lane meets Fernden Lane. Took path NW towards peak and found (as previously described) many paths crossing the landscape not on OS maps. The trig point is best reached from the OS path marked to the south of the trig point, you'll find a small path heading north from there that takes you directly past it. Looks like forest management underway as a lot more visible than in previous photographs. A fantastic view from both here and the nearby Temple of the Clouds (marked on OS maps) with views right across to Leith Hill. I visited on an autumn morning with some low-level cloud so view obscured, however equally rewarded with the autumn colours of the landscape - in my opinion the best time to visit this spot.jamiequackers24/10/2020
From NT carpark, walked due south along wide paths through woods at first, then opens up. Trig Point found at edge of woods on left. Return by reverse route. Beautiful conditions, great visibility from Trig Point.Dartmoorman16/10/2020
Walked up from the car park by Absters. View from the Temple of the Winds simply stunning. From here you can see my next 2 county tops, Leith Hill and Ditchling Beacon.pclyndes11/10/2020
Parked at National Trust car park and followed the obvious trail to the topograph. Relaxed and enjoyed the views here and had an enjoyable chat with two friendly National Park Rangers. Continued on a short distance afterwards to the trig and highest point. Beautiful area!Gerry the Ranger08/08/2020

From National trust Black Down CP, circuit of the serpent path nipping off to the summit mound and Trig, doesn’t look as though many folk venture off the main tracks. Lovely sunny morning good views and surprisingly few people.Jephcote8314/09/2019
