Walk up as described by richard69. Summit trig is currently a sheep grazing pasture. Solo.Dangerous Dave05/12/2023
2/5. Woodland Trust car park for 3 cars to the E was full but parked around the corner just S of the church at Bryn Coch. As others followed the zig zag path up N of Dyffryn farm and out of the woods into pasture. Before the next gate turned R and followed the wall up to another gate into the southerly top field and across to the trig. Completed the walk by returning to the track and along to the Careg Bica standing stone, now doubling as a gate post, and down the WT steps to rejoin outward track. Lovely beech trees on the upper slopes. As a WT member I would rather they had spent the money on step maintenance than tarmacing a car park for 3 cars. Cloudy with a cold wind. Parked at 684827, enough for 3 or 4 cars, long slog up traci, too right fork up to field, up and across to gate hopped gate and across field to trig then back across fields to large standing stone, followed fence/ path down to top of steep steps, took route through woods back to main path and back downTribal2er15/01/2023
Same route as Clive G. Parked outside church, followed Blue route to above rock climbing, up wall through fate into trig point field. Back by bridleway past Gareg Bica stone and then down Woodland Trust path, steps down steep bit. 4 miles, 90 minutes walking time.JulieB01/01/2023
Managed to visit 5 Tumps/Humps and get from Tenby to Bryn Coch by 1500 hrs. Parked near the church (rd jct 200m N), walked on bw past Dyffryn Fm and rock climbing, then through gate to S of trig pt. Bare earth, ready for planting , but an uncultivated strip from the trig went E to sagging bbw fence; reurned via the woodland trust track. Nice walk (90 min) on a sunny afternoon.pwheeler14/05/2022
Revisit .. 1st visit 08/2005 … nice 6 mile run with Pauline from Drummau Park road along ridge and back through Dyffryn woodmilejunkie14/04/2022
Parked just off B4291 and walked up following path, hopped wall before a squashed bw fence.Stevooo07/01/2022
From woodland trust cp as previously mentioned. Trig in a planted field just now, but an unplanted path is available from the east.iangalbraith20/10/2021

5 mile circular route from Bryn Coch church (woodland trust car park only had 3 spaces and was full!). Up through woodlands to north of Dyffryn farm, on woodland trust blue route. Continued to north tip of soodland on woodlznd trust path, then south on bridleway along enjoyable broad ridge to west of trig, over bwf to bag trig, then back to bridlepath to Carreg Bica stone. SE into Stanley wood, steps initially, then return along road. Woodland was pleasant but not as special as Woodland Trust write up suggests,Clive G06/08/2020
From Church parking high above Bryn Coch, there is parking also behind thevchurch at entrance to Dyffrys wood. Up through wood to zigzag past the climbing face, then easy grassy field to trig. Fine views. 3/7 MarilynN.Morters25/07/2020
From Skewen via Penlan Trig. Farmer's wife gave permission to access field.Ramblingpaul19/07/2020
Parked 737999 only to find I could have driven much further towards Dyffryn Farm. A bit of an uphill slog, over bwf to trig.NormanW26/02/2020
6/6 From forest car park to ESE. Dark on return. Best hill of day – view of Swansea impressive. Rounsfell08/02/2020
Neath - Neath Abbey Craig - Mynydd Drumau - Mynydd Marchywel - Neath.Mark Jackson02/11/2019
trig vgc, sunny, excellent views in all directionsrichardrosser17/01/2019
From car park at SS 737999. Followed blue footprint waymarks NW, then back SSW to reach pasture grass area, then worked out a way through 2 gates to trig.Isbjorn14/11/2018
Drove up past Dyffryn Farm to public road end sign, as others but found no safe parking. Asked approaching farmer for advice and told to take my car back down to woodland car park almost a mile down the hill. I told him the public road ended above the farm but he insisted the road was private but that the signs were not there because they had been vandalised. I decided against any confrontation and drove back down to the car park and hiked back up the wood. Higher up, the RoW led across a fild of unwelcoming cattle, and the summit, just above the RoW, was defended by a barbed fence.Topographer5730/09/2018
3/6 Marilyn day. The ascent of Mynydd Drumau from the gas compound, past the farm and through Dryffyn woods. Then cut up to the trig. A round trip of 3.3km in 50 minutes. (S)silveracorn_alan13/05/2018
From E. Drove from Bryn Coch, via church to just above Dyffryn Farm, where sign states no further access for vehicles. Up track, zig-zag past quarry with bolt protection on some routes. Across field, over fence to trig.Minto11/04/2018
Family walk to trig point and Carreg Pica standing stone. Parked behind Duffryn church.philwhit25/02/2018
A train walk, starting from Port Talbot Parkway and finishing at Skewen. Up the Wales Coast Path to Mynydd Dinas, which is not as expected from the map: it's a lovely heathery summit with a few pine trees. Down the WCP to Blaen-Baglan, then along the road to pick up the by-way and path leading to Foel Fynyddau. Back to the road, and towards Neath, picking up the forest track after 280m, which comes out above a hill fort, then down to Pant-Howel-Ddu. Down the very quiet and pleasant road to Neath, and a soggy by-way to Pencaeru, and into Neath. Over the pedestrian bridge past the station, and up the hill towards Glynfelin. Paths and tracks up the hill to join the bridleway below the summit of Mynydd Drumau. Over the fence to the trig, then soggy, muddy grass to pick up the bridleway into Skewen, for the return train to Cardiff.Gill18/01/2018
Drove a long way up having past farm and up hillside and eventually put on to sheep pasture.vegibagger04/01/2018

3/8M parked above farm track to quarry then over fence to the top.robertphillips10/11/2017
Parked at the woodland trust car park and followed the blue trail (marked on the map in the car park) through the forest and then detoured off onto the bridle way up the hill and across the field to the trig point. The woodland is beautiful and we had a great view from the top.Wackywelshy25/08/2017
Parked at Dyffryn Farm. Followed forest track and FP to high pasture and then through gate to trig. Good views.PeterD10/08/2017
We parked in the Woodland Trust car park at SS737999. We then started on the blue route (shown on the info board in the car park) which took us through the woods to the top of the wood. We then took detour on the bridleway out onto the hill top. There is a gate at SN726000 giving access to the trig point. Descended via Carn Bica and the bridleway back into the wood where we rejoined the blue route. Lovely woodland and great views. With Keith and baby Ross.islamidget26/05/2017
Parked outside church 738998. Lovely walk up through woods passing farms on road.Hippy7716/02/2017
From Dyffryn woods car park.. Theres so many parking spots further up. Followed track up to pasture and then headed up field before dry stone wall..theres a gate in the corner. Decent views but being full of a cold I didn't linger.stig_nest14/12/2016

Staying at Tir Abbey Farm campsite. Took in the peak as part of a 3-mile loop starting from the campsite. Followed bridleway then hopped over wall into field containing trig.liljonb07/06/2016
Walked from church in Bryn Coch, though driving up track is possible. Top is a not unpleasant grassy dome.Cas-gwent15/03/2016
Parked at the church 739998 but parking available at the woodland trust entrance just round the corner. Followed track NW through woods which loop SW to a bolted climbing crag. Then up and across a few fields, with newly born lamb, to the trig point.mindlessflogger12/03/2016
Parked in lane at Swiss Cottage. Forestry road and signposted footpaths. Steep ascent up steps. Crossed stile to summit fields. Standing stone about 2.5m tall.sixlegs05/03/2016
Up the road from Dyffryn. Parking ok at gas compound, but signage further on suggests ok to park just beyond farm. Track continues up left and later right past old quarry with many bolted routes, tho looking unused now. at end of track cut direct up field, one wall/b/wire fence to cross to trig.nordicstar18/11/2015
From the substation. Up the zigzag track. Then straight to the top from the gate after the crag.jenx18/11/2015
from Pen Alltwen TP via fps and standing stone Carreg Bica then from bridleway on west of TPunderhill07/11/2015
Fortunately no encounter with any farmers. Pleasant walk to summit using tracks. Returned via same route. Parked in a layby just before the gas substation on the Dyffryn Farm side.bowlesy10/10/2015
With GB but I had a better confrontation with the farmer than he did. 40 minutes.bolton29/07/2015
If approaching from the east, probably best to park below Dyffryn Farm near the gas substation at SN73190 00113 (We parked just above the farm & the farmer wasn’t happy!) – Followed waymarked track to gate in wall at 727000 – Up track alongside wall to another gate & then across field to trig point (Again, farmer not happy as I’d walked across a field of grass about to be cut for silage!) PMgerrybowes29/07/2015
Parked outside the Church to the East. Evenign walk up the road, then jogged back through the woods. Nice views of Port Talbot + Swansea Bay.huwthomas10/07/2015

2/5 After an ignorant and rude farmer refused permission to park near his farm at Gleas. I approached from Bryn Coch and this was an easier and more pleasant trip up the hillFergalh07/02/2015
Drove as far as we could on unclassified road in Dyffryn Wood past Dyffryn Farm then walked the rest of the way to the trig point. Operated ham radio for SOTA from the top.G4OBK (Phil)22/01/2015
With Trefor. Beautiful sunny day. From church at Bryn cochmike.hoult24/11/2014
Camping at Ty Canol Farm, walked from there taking in Pen Lan trig before hitting this Marilyn/Trig, before returning to the camp site via St Matthew's Church, an intersected station. A pleasant 7 mile circular walk before departing S Wales for home.jonglew01/09/2013
From Dyffryn Farm on track the across to summit.Eddie09/07/2013
Followed route described by Chris Watson. There is room for one car at end of the road then up past two houses to fields full of sheep and then track to the trig point.Father Ted18/07/2011
