2/5. Followed Dangerous Dave and parked in Soar to the SW - in a 5 car layby with a yellow grit bin. Followed the Taff Ely Ridgeway to the trig and back. Sunny morning with good views. Solorichard6929/11/2023
Room for two cars to sw of summit by litter bin at Soar, north of Pentyrch. Straight up good path on Taff Ely Ridge Walk to trig. Great views. With Jill.Dangerous Dave07/11/2023
Up and down from Taf Wells station.Moorponder13/07/2023
Parked in Pentyrch and walked up from there. Previously also walked up from Gwaelod-y-garth, which is a steeper ascent and a harder walk in general.Jelleebeen21/02/2023
Parked on road at 104831, take track behind house up to right turn onto taff Ely Ridgway walk, up to top mound and trig, great views, same return, watch out for the nasty hairpin turn on the approach rd from the eastTribal2er12/09/2022
Parking for 2/3 cars at bottom of track to SW. great views, continued aling ridge to theburied block, which turned out to be a concrete ring.cjo29/06/2022
With KeithByTheC. Parked in Fforest Fawr Car Park. Walked along minor road to pick path from the East going up Craig Yr Allt. Headed East off ridge then down woodland path to Garth to pick up the crossing points of the A470, then the railway and the river. Headed past the pub up Garth Hill, then just before steep hairpin bend took a track to the right. Followed this until it met a path of up to the left which then led past fields and up onto the open land then obvious path up the ridge to the summit. To descend took the path heading SSE until it hit the road. Down the road a little way then path off to the left leading to the Nature Reserve. Through the Nature Reserve to the minor road. Then along to the junction of the A470 picking up the Tarff trail . Path straight up to the Castle, then back on the red route through the forest to the car park. 10 miles, 4hrs walking time per Strava. Very pleasant walk.JulieB23/03/2022
From Craig yr Allt via Taff''s Well. Ascended NNW on RoW from Garth Hill road. Then sharply back S then SSW on access land just east of pasture over Gwaelod-y-garth. KeithByTheC23/03/2022
Taff's Well - Garth Hill - Taff's Well - Craig yr Allt - Taff's Well. Took a bit of a loop around each hill.davidpettit8421/11/2021
Easy ascent from small parking area to south. Walked up good track to summit. 3rd of 5 Marilyns today. Earlier we bagged Mynydd Y Glyn and Cefn Eglwysilan and later on we bagged Craig Yr Allt and Wentwood. Grey/murky conditions limited the views, this is a real shame after reading the other comments about the views. Quite a few people about. 97m ascent.DanTrig05/09/2021

Parked the car at 10477 83127 and followed the right of way leading west to meet the main path up to the summit, return trip of 25 minutes and just under a mile with great 360 views which was refreshing for a UA top.WAYNE ROWLETT21/03/2020
After Fan Gyhirych in light rain with thick mist. Quick chat with nice local on top. Easiest route. Rounsfell26/01/2020
Like others from parking area to south up (not) dangerously eroded path.lenman03/01/2020
A short circular walk from the small parking area/picnic spot south of the hill. Slightly amusing sign at the bottom of the path warning of the dangerous eroded path and advising you to take a different route. The path was fine. It was raining and there were no views, unfortunately.Geoff Briggs26/10/2019
Parked at the picnic area hard standing and up the paths to the summit where cattle were. Grotty morning with drizzle and no visibility.NormanW07/10/2019
Parked in layby just past cattery. Lovely, easy walk up path to trig point. Great spot for lunch with beautiful views across to Weston and Bristol one side and the Beacons to other side.Hippy7730/08/2019
Up ROW from SWvegibagger25/07/2019
With E. A warm sunny afternoon made this a very pleasant walk. From the layby on the road south of the hill we did a circuit anti clockwise coming back down The Taff Elly Ridgeway Walk. This is bronze age burial cairn with a couple more nearby. Trig point on top of the larger one. Small hill giving big views. We could see across to Cardiff, the Bristol Channel and Somerset.Beeliner16/07/2019
From Taff's Well, across the River Taff, then up the zigzag path to Gwaelod-y-Garth village, up the roads into the woodland, then up steep paths to the rocky outcrops on the eastern end of the hill, and finally west along the hilltop to the trig pillar.Mariana Trench02/07/2019

Mynydd y Glyn from Trehafod station, Cefn Eglwysilan from Treforest station, and Garth Hill and Craig yr Allt from Taffs Well station, all on the same day.Mark Jackson26/10/2018
Quick ascent from parking on the road in Taff's Well. Ran up the road before ascending from the south and descended to the NE, before following path and road to SSE back to the car.welshyboyo22/10/2018
From picnic area ESE of summit. A path starting at a seat leads nowhere. A path starting 50m further east is the subject of condemnatory advice but is in excellent condition and leads to a pleasant walk along the east ridge. Excellent views of Cardiff.Topographer5701/10/2018
Up Ridgeway Walk from usual parking sport - excellent viewpoint.SS15/08/2018
Met a local man at top who climbs the hill every week. Pleasant walk up after the interesting drive up round the hairpin bend. Be aware of how steep the turn is!elizyanne15/07/2018

Nice walk up Garth Hill after an enjoyable day in Cardiff. Easy site to access and summit. Beautiful views back across the city and surrounding countryside. saw my first Meadow Pipits of the year.Gerry the Ranger06/04/2018
Lovely clear Easter Sunday - popular destination, and easily sign-posted to the summit.kasharic01/04/2018
A very fine walk from Taff's Well station. Along the river, then zig-zagging on paths up through the woods, and then steeply onto the summit ridge. Fine grassy paths to the top, perfect for galloping horses, as demonstrated by a local. Down NE on the good path above Craig y Lan, to join the ROW heading SE back to the bridge. Over the river, and up Craig yr Allt, then on the train to Trehafod and Mynydd y GlynGill19/01/2018
