A great 9.2km walk with stunning views and beautifully varied terrain | SlopingOff | 26/10/2023 |
From Black Chew Head, down to rocky footpath which runs alongside Crowden Great Brook. Probably my favourite view in the world. Stone path, interrupted by boggy patches and a few stream crossings, all the way up to Black Hill summit and trig point. Soldiers Lump (in Derbyshire) seems to be higher. | hillbagger91 | 14/10/2023 |
Tried a few of the mounds but the small ring contour marked Soldier’s Lump was highest by GPS. Trig point a good 100m away | Vulcan | 10/08/2023 |
Parked in the parking area immediately S of the Holme Moss mast. Followed clear path to the trig and hp and back. Blustery morning with low cloud - the mast was in cloud most of the time. Solo. | richard69 | 12/07/2023 |
Cycled over from Glossop to Crowden then walked up the Pennine Way route. Returned via Westend Moss and Hey Edge. Saw two people all day. Then cycled along the Trans Pennine Trail to Penistone. | pclyndes | 09/05/2023 |

Revisit number 2 the first was 57 years ago. From Crowden Up the Pennine Way to the Black Hill Trig then back via White Low.. | Glenelg | 15/06/2022 |
2/5 (Revisits 3 today) From Wessenden Head we walked along the road to collect West Nab then back onto the Pennine Way up to Black Hill (Revisit) and followed it down towards Crowden to use as a ramp up onto Black Chew Head and along easy path to Featherbed Moss. Then back u to Black Hill (Revisit of the Revisit) and out on the Footpath South West to get White Low which looks miles but walks out and back very well in under an hour. So therefore we Revisited the revisit of the revisit of Black Hill (getting a bit silly now) and finally decided to go home. A lovely round in a very cool June wind. | nickywood1 | 04/06/2022 |

Then, walked too the Trig and Summit of the hill and county top. Walked back down a different way through lots of bog before going back to the car. | DavidHiner | 09/05/2022 |
