| 6.5 mile Marchlyn Mawr circular from car park at end of road near Deiniolen. Track then steep pull onto Elidir Fach, good stony trails onto Elidir Fawr, good paths along narrow ridge leading to Mynydd Perfedd and Carnedd Y Filiast with one last rocky descent to the track back to the car park. | Fronllwyd & Carnedd y Filiast with Rufus. Parked just north of Tai Newyddion on the opposite side of the road where you can fit a couple of vehicles against the fence. Followed road and then track NNW to gate by afon Cwm ceunant where a sheep track takes you alongside the stream to around 400m and switches back N. Another switchback around 500m gains the crest of the ridge and then the summit of Fron Llwydd. Continued directly to Carnedd y Filiast and descended NE along a sheep track close to the edge of the upper Cwm ceunant and dropped down directly to the road. | jacobrichmond | 13/02/2023 |

| Final day of three in Wales with Smithy & Shaky: windy & with rain forecast. From Idwal Cottage round Llyn Idwal & up the NE ridge of Y Garn with a quick detour to that summit. Over to Foel-goch while the other two took the lower traversing path, then round to a mist shrouded Elidir Fawr. Got greedy & headed up Mynydd Perfedd at which point the promised rain arrived big time, not the ideal point for Shaky to discover that he had forgotten his overtrousers! Over to Carnedd y Filiast & then back to the first stile underneath Mynydd Perfedd & followed faint path on vague ridge between Cwm Perfedd & Cwm Bual.
