10th and final top of a 21km traverse from Pant-glas to Carmel, approached from Clogwyngarreg to reach stile and grassy path at the 390m mark followed by a steep path up, getting easier at the 470m mark then enjoyable once Foel Rudd reached where the path swweps round Craig Y Bera and upto the top. This top completes the Gwyrfai and Llyfni catchments, my 5th Welsh catchment of the week. Easy descent Nw then West, Sw to reach Y Fron then on to Carmel to my Airbnb... | Dazingdale | 29/09/2023 |

Alumni weekend in caernavon. From NW. sheltered in cave/ mine workings high on edge of Craig Cwm Du as showeres/thunder crossed over. Then to summit, Foel Rudd and Rhyd Ddu for a pint | richardrosser | 15/10/2022 |
Parked up at the Rhyd Ddu car park, £6 for the full day. Walk back down to the village and take a left after the pub, 150 yards up the road and take a left up a forest track, keep on here for about a mile and it turns into a path, head left through the forest and you come to fence, hop ever and head right, from here is very straight forward to get to the top. I decided to not come down the way I went up but to carry on to the north east and come down near the north end of the reservoir, I would not to do this route especially in very wet weather like I had today, slipped many times coming down here and couldnt cross the river as it was running fast and deep. Had to get soaked going through deep water close to the reservoir. Straight forward walk back through the forest and finished in the local pub for food with an open fire. | Buckleymon | 05/10/2022 |
Rhyd-Ddu loop. Afon Goch descent, tough going particularly the last section near the falls. | Chris Williams | 11/09/2022 |

Up through forest from Rhyd-Ddu car park. Good path all the way. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 23/04/2022 |
60mph winds so had to crawl down on my hands like a crab :) was quite scary. Got as far as Foel Rudd but there was very strong winds, rain and hail so will go back another day. | Skarletk | 13/03/2022 |
From Rhyd Ddu. Followed forestry track and Slate Trail onto open hillside, up the ridge and descended E into valley, then followed E bank of Avon Goch down, avoiding crags. Slightly sketchy step near the bottom. | welshyboyo | 30/01/2022 |
Summit overlooking nantlle valley | freethehilltops | 28/12/2021 |
Afternoon walk after Moel Cyngyhorion in the morning. An excellent walk from Drws-y-coed, parking by the chapel a short way West along the road. Used the steep but easy track to join the ridge path and then straightforwardly to the summit along ridge path with great views, especially on way back. | dickscroop | 27/12/2021 |
Varied and interesting route from Drws y Coed. Wet and windy again but enough visibility for the view over the edge of Craig y Bera to send you dizzy. | cumbria mammoth | 09/11/2021 |

Via Sentries Ridge on Craig Y Bera, good scramble & a fine viewpoint. | DanMaisieBex | 26/06/2021 |
Enjoyable walk along Nantlle ridge on clear/dry day with thunder elsewhere. Started near Talysarn - path through quarries difficult to follow. On to Myndd Mawr and down to Waunfach. Bus worked well from Caernarfon to start / finish. | davechaffey | 11/05/2021 |
From Beddgelert. Followed the slate trail to Rhud Ddu and then went over Mynydd MAwr (via Clogwyngareg) before dropping down into Bryn Gloch caravan park. | WelshMountainGoat38 | 02/05/2021 |

Solo run. Day before lockdown. | haydnw | 17/10/2020 |
4.9 mile up-and-down from Drws-Y-Coed hamlet, took well signed footpath through farm and up track marked on map to meet usual ascent route, climbed stupidly steeply for a little while up to Foel Rudd cairn then followed lovely ridge up to summit. Amazing views on this clear and sunny day, Snowdon on prominent display along with most of the other north Snowdonian mountains, also good views across the Lleyn Peninsular and all the way across Anglesey. We saw a few people descending as we climbed up but no one about on summit or ridge, returned the same way. | DanTrig | 18/09/2020 |
Up and down from Rhyd-Ddu - windy but dry to the top and then the rain which had soaked me in the morning delivered another dose. Some impressive rock features passed by on my path. | NormanW | 07/09/2020 |
Linear walk from Y Fron village centre. Mynydd Mawr, through forest to Llyn Cwellyn, Moel Cynghorian, to Llechog and down the Llanberis path to Llanberis. Taxi back to the start. Glorious weather, one of the hottest days of the year. Tough walk. | Lazylizzie | 08/08/2020 |

Ideal NYD walk to clear head, unfortunately skies didn't clear at summit. | lordtonult | 01/01/2020 |
Parked at entrance to track at Rhyd Ddu, followed track through forest and up onto a very pleasant ridge. Came back the ascent route as very scenic and was warned by another hill visitor who had been up there before that the Nuttalls route down the valley that I was going to take past the waterfall would be quite slippy in the frosty conditions. They said it was fine when it was dry. | JulieB | 29/11/2019 |
Very windy. | Dusty | 21/11/2019 |
From Rhyd-Ddu car park, through forest, to summit via Foel Rudd. Back the same way | Dan Baddeley | 07/11/2019 |

Night run all the way round from YHA Llanberis. Bit of a slog up the W side but then a brilliant ridge down the E side. Nice hill. | twg27 | 17/09/2019 |
From Dywarchen, around west side of reservoir and east side of rocks, grass topped causeway across the bog, steep pasture up to south east ridge. | Topographer57 | 03/08/2019 |
With Elizyanne from Y Fron. Parking at end of tarmac road (SH515551). Path all the way to summit. Return same way. | GmacT | 27/07/2019 |
From quarry, follow path up the hill. Pity we lost view in cloud. Handy in poor visibility to have a huge stone arrow pointing to the path! Good path and walk | elizyanne | 27/07/2019 |
Yr Aran and Mynydd Mawr out and back to each from Rhydd-ddu. 20km with 1100m ascent in 6 hours. (S) | silveracorn_alan | 06/05/2019 |
From small fishing loch near Rhyd Ddu. Nice ridge, cold wind. | N.Morters | 13/04/2019 |
From Rhyd Ddu CP (£6.00) - visited Y Aran first, then back to CP & on to Mynydd Mawr (via track through forest). Y Aran is an excellent hill with a really good mountain path from the bwlch. | ger | 28/03/2019 |
parked at Rhyd Ddu and followed the slate trail path which was easy to follow out through the wood. once at the first style turn right and the obvious footpath will take you all the way to the summit. due to poor weather we returned the same way. | Aristotle Chip | 01/12/2018 |
