Fourth of 8 tops on a breathtaking but exhausting 16.5 mile trek from Dyffryn Ardudwy to Barmouth via Moelfre, Y Llethr, Diffwys and the southern Rhinogydd ridge. After Crib-y-Rhiw, carried on along the ridge, taking in the outcrops on the top of the ridge that the main path seems to cut away from. This proved to be a terrific viewpoint of Y Garn, and an excellent place to rest aching feet for 30 minutes before the steep pull up to the summit. The summit was very windy, contrasting with most of the rest of the walk. A terrific summit. Onwards to the West Top on very easy slopes. | thesweetcheat | 13/09/2022 |
Started walk from Parc Isaf campsite where we were staying and joined Nuttall walk 9.1 at the south. Completed the walk as per 9.1 then returned to campsite. Long tough walk with R took, 11.5 hours in total. | Dan Baddeley | 27/08/2022 |

Followed the Forest track N then turned off left along a minor path a few hundred metres before Llyn Cwm Mynach. Followed path up through woodland then up through the old manganese mine works with increasingly deep powder snow to the ridge. Followed the ridge south through deep snow to a moonlit summit at around 7am. Returned same way. | jacobrichmond | 04/12/2020 |

Miserable start through drizzle from Tal-y-Bont but sheltered in the woods. Brightened up by the time we got onto the tops. Fantastic views from Diffwys for our lunch stop. With Mark, Hamish and Huey. | Saggers | 09/07/2017 |
Rhinog Fawr, Rhinog Fach, Y Llethr, Crib-y-rhiw, Diffws, Diffws West Top. Followed route in Nuttall's book. Couldn't find anyone at the farm so I left £2 parking fee in the porch. Weather had closed in by the end and it was a long day, made the mistake of following the bridleway at GR634240 on the map instead of getting The Nuttalls book out of my rucksack! Should have turned off at GR 640242 and headed for the gate at GR637246. | tsharp | 07/06/2017 |

Approached by the narrow minor road from Bontdu to the
south which ends at natural car park at Banc y Fran. Good path all the way to summit. Very hot. Stupendous views. Probably the best I've ever had in Wales. Needed plenty of liquid. | Campbell Singer | 18/07/2016 |
