2/3 from Dolgellau by bike. Exceptional weather. Walk out in dark since started at midday. Lacerated by Blackberries. | davechaffey | 18/10/2022 |
From Nantcol - parking £3, pay at the farm. Handrailed walls up western side of rocks onto shoulder, then path NE to summit. Descended via small cairned path initialled to E then S coming out at the top of the pass - Bwlch Drws Ardudwy, before returning to Nantcol. Descent route sounds like Dan Trig's adventure ascent route below. Very windy. With Gillian. Previous ascent memories of Rhinog knee deep heather relived. | richard69 | 17/10/2022 |
From Cwrt Forest car park. | Chris Peart | 01/10/2022 |
Started walk from Parc Isaf campsite where we were staying and joined Nuttall walk 9.1 at the south. Completed the walk as per 9.1 then returned to campsite. Long tough walk with R took, 11.5 hours in total. | Dan Baddeley | 27/08/2022 |

From Cwm Nantcol | solitaryfellwanderer | 13/08/2022 |
Very hot. From car park walked up forest path. Very pretty and leads neatly onto hill. Path over to the Loch needs more attention as to where you step. After the Loch - pick your scramble path up! Do-able but needs full attention. Lovely top but negotiating down safely was a challenge. Gmac called it a day (hallelujah - I was shattered!) | elizyanne | 10/07/2022 |

1st Welsh walk after French alps | Fabioski | 05/07/2022 |
From Cwm Nantcol. Best to access from Llanbedr, which avoids the multiple gates on the road from Dyffryn Ardudwy. There are 3 parking places, (currently £3); 200m W of Cil-cychwyn, 200m N of Pont Cerrig, and at Maes-y-garnedd. I used the first, then car best placed for descent. Went via Bwlch Drws-Ardudwy, figuring to go up and down Rhinog Fawr the same way would make route finding easier. Followed the Cambrian Way path, on OS Maps, but not Hill Bagging maps. A small path is there, leading eventually to the summit. Quite hard to follow back to Bwlch. | Minto | 31/05/2022 |
Started from the end of the minor road leading to Nantcol where a £3 fee is payable to the farmer. A Eleven mile route taking in Rhinog Fawr, Rhinog Fach, Y Llethr, Crib y rhiw, Diffwys and its west top, the first four miles is very tough taking us about four hours but once over Y Llethr it becomes easier with grass slopes and finishing in Eight hours total. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 14/05/2022 |
From Graigddu-isaf, up to Llyn ddu, very dry after a sunny spell. | Flatfield | 30/04/2022 |
6.8 mile out-and-back walk from small car park east of Graigddu-isaf. We followed very well waymarked tracks through forest to Bwlch Drws-Ardudwy. From here it's an adventure! We headed to the cairn in the pass then followed the hard to find route of the Cambrian Way. This heads from the cairn towards the end of a big stone wall which you may have to crawl under. It then heads across heathery terraces south-east of the mountain. After a while of following this there is a small cairn marking the route up the summit. The very small path continues until you get further up and pick up a good track to the summit. Steep but not too scrambly. Great views from the top in all directions. Descended the same way heading back to the car park. 520m ascent. Afterwards we drove to and bagged Moel Oernant, Gallt Y Daren and Moel Y Feidiog. No one about. | DanTrig | 26/04/2022 |

Afternoon ascent of Rhinog Fawr with my son from Cwm Bychan via Roman Steps and Llyn Du, with descent into Bwlch Drws-Ardudwy, followed with an ascent past Llyn Cwmhosan to wild camp on the shore of Llyn Hywel beneath Rhinog Fach. Sunny day, but with strong winds. Great views all the way north to Snowdon and the Gylders. 7.5Km with 820m ascent. | VirtualMountain | 18/09/2020 |
From Nantcol then Rhinog Fach, Y Llethr and Moelfre. | NormanW | 10/09/2020 |
From the east, to Llyn Du first. Drizzle earlier, cloud lifted briefly. Errors missing the path down led to very awkward terrain. | Marksalop | 05/08/2020 |
Round of Rhinogs following Moalfre, Y Llethr and Rhinog Fach. 3/3 Marilyn | N.Morters | 21/07/2020 |
#668 From Cwm Bychan via the Roman Steps and Llyn Du in atrocious weather! | tim747 | 29/01/2020 |
followed the path in the book the path is fairly obvious. when you get to the shoulder find a path and follow it till you see off to the right a gate in the wall. follow it to the summit. the descent off looks easy and obvious but with rocks wet it can be a bit dificult | Aristotle Chip | 29/12/2019 |
With CMC up Roman steps | greenways | 28/09/2019 |
Round of Moelfre, Y Llethr, Rhinog Fach and Rhinog Fawr from the west. Encountered some horrible ground descending the crags into Cwm Nantcol, should have descended from further west. | Topographer57 | 10/09/2019 |
2 day hike with a wild camp | scott turner | 16/08/2019 |
Part of 2 day trip with wild camp. Started from Cwm Bychan up the Roman Steps. Steep rocky terrain to summit, no obvious paths. Good views of the sea and mountains. Descended into cwm to South and continued on towards Llyn Hywel. With dad. 8km. | PiranhaFish | 02/08/2019 |
From car park to east, through forest to Bwlch Drws Ardudwy. North from there up through rocks, heather and scrub, very occasional tracks. | iangalbraith | 23/07/2019 |
Contrasting day, climbed up in total fog, visibility 10m at most. Summited at 8:50, sat having a snack, fog cleared of 30 mins before the day became overcast. | DanMaisieBex | 14/07/2019 |

P and K tricky route finding, easier ascent than expected | senrab | 10/05/2019 |
Approach from east to Bwlch Drws-Ardudny (initially on good forest tracks - some signage). Visited Rhinog Fawr then Rhinog Fach. Very impressive hills with a character of their own. Good summit views, but mist prevented clear distant views - could just make out the sea. | ger | 27/02/2019 |
Parked at cwm bychan. Ascent via roman steps, Llyn Du to summit of Rhinog Fawr. Descended north west, over stone wall to heather pleateu. Headed north, over wall and down to gloyw Lyn and back to car. Some cloud on top, but occasionally broke to views of Snowdon to the north. | noxibis | 05/01/2019 |

Climbed from Graigddu-Isaf via Pistyll Gwyn, Roman steps, Bwlch Tyddiad and Llyn Du. Return by similar route but more direct path taken from Llyn Du towards Pistyll Gwyn. Cracking day. Hot, sunny though slightly hazy. With school group (year 8) and instructor John. Excellent mountain. Very rugged and rocky but nowhere difficult, unless you twist your ankle! Highest point appears to be a large cairn east of the trig point. | jamessteel100 | 04/07/2018 |
