From car park at top of bwlch. With B and R. | jenx | 14/12/2020 |
Parked at Bwlch v Groes car park. Llechwedd Du, straight over to Feel Hafod-fynydd, Esgeiriau Gwynion, Foel Rhudd, Foel y Groes and Moel y Cerrig Duon. Only problem was the friendly cattle that arrived at the car park while I was walking, had a dump on a wheel and had been rubbing themselves on the side of my car! | CJM | 08/09/2020 |
Continuation along the fence line, fine views of Llyn Vyrnwy | DanMaisieBex | 04/08/2019 |
An hour out and back from the pass, a lovely way to start the day as the views are quite excellent in all directions. I know it's technically and Aran but it feels so much more a Hirnantau hill, can't quite get my head around it. | Jake994 | 14/07/2019 |
A nine and half mile walk following Nuttall's route but first doing the out and back for Moel y Cerrig Duon and then over to Llechwedd Du, Foel Rhudd, Esgeriau Gwynion and Foael Hafod-fynydd. The climb up to the last top is very steep but is only around 400 meters and the climb up the road back to the car park was a sting in the tail too. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 30/06/2019 |
Quick out-and-back walk from top of Bwlch-Y-Groes pass to Moel Y Cerrig Duon via Foel Y Groes, good track all the way to cairn on summit, last 2 hills of the day. Earlier that day did a 10 mile walk re-bagging Aran Benllyn, Erw Y Ddafad-Ddu, Aran Fawddwy and bagging Foel Hafod-Fynydd, Llechwedd Du, Esgeiriau Gwynion and Llechwedd Llyfn. Perfectly clear and sunny with a nice breeze all day with views stretching for miles. | DanTrig | 15/05/2019 |

From the waterfalls car park at SH 94368 24088. Took path up through bracken above the falls, then a tough pathless heather bash up the valley of the Afon Eiddew and Cefn Blaen-y-coed to the summit. Then east to Moel Eunant. Solo. | Man of Kernow1 | 01/07/2017 |
More or less did section 8.2 from the Nuttalls book with the exception of the North face of Foel Hafod-fynydd which had a lot of snow on it so I skirted East and went up the Western ridge which was relatively snow free and not as steep.
Started off from Bwlch y Groes which is apparently the highest pass in North Wales and it's worth coming up here just for the drive! It was very wet and swampy with lots of groughs and wetness on the way up to Llechwedd Du. After that it was a short hop up to Foel Rhudd and an even shorter hop to Esgeiriau Gwynion. Tied the backpack to a fence on the way up to Foel Hafod-fynydd and picked it up on the way back down. The views at the top were absolutely superb: Aran Fawddwy was sprinkled with snow and looked gorgeous with Creiglyn Dyfi at the bottom. The grassy track (presumably there used to be a quarry up here) was a delightful route down as I no longer had to watch my feet and could admire the delightful waterfalls below instead. The only downside o | tsharp | 23/03/2017 |

Visited on drive from Welshpool to Dolgellau. Parked in large layby to the west of Y Gadfa SH935238 setting off looking for PROW footpath to south of summit. Never did find anything on the ground (darned dotted green lines) but did find gate on line of path SH921238. Followed fence to summit then continued along fence to return to van | mntainman | 26/02/2016 |

Beautiful day. Followed Nuttall's route from Bwlch y Groes | jim pererin | 02/12/2014 |
Based on the Nuttalls' walk from car park at summit of pass but did away with the steep road walk as we had two cars and parked one at the hairpin bend. It then made more sense to do Moel y Cerrig Duon first and return to car park for the main event. | David Gradwell | 27/08/2014 |
A quick there and back from Bwlch y Groes before the rain came. | ju ju | 24/05/2014 |

ANOTHER FINE DAY AT BALA. DROVE TO BWLCH Y GROES AND DID NUTTALLS WALK 8.2. BOGGY BUT EASY WALK OUT TO LLECHWEDD DU AND ON TO FOEL RHUDD AND ESGEIRIAU GWYNION. JOYCE FOLLOWED THE PATH DOWN FROM THE COL TO THE ROAD AND WALKED UP TO FETCH THE CAR WHILE I DID FOEL HAFOD-FYNYDD - GREAT VIEWS OF THE CLIFFS OF THE ARANS. WALKED DOWN TO THE ROAD AND JOYCE DROVE ME UP TO A POINT BEYOND BWLCH Y GROES FOR A SHORT BUT ROUGH AND PATHLESS ASCENT AND DESCENT OF MOEL Y CERRIG DUON. | BURGESS | 07/08/2013 |
