Nuttalls walk 11.3 in reverse. The best bits were the walk along the scenic Rhiwnant valley and the view from the cairn at Dryarn Fawr S to the whole skyline of the Brecon Beacons from the Black Mountains across to the Black Mountain. The worse bit was the thrash up to the cairn through long grassy tussocks - the atv track along the Dalrhiw ridge is a much easier walking option. A small path from the col between the two tops, largely following the old Birmingham Corporation boundary markers, leads to Gorllwyn. The mid section of the Nuttall descent from Gorllwyn is also grassy tussocks. With Gillian, Harriet and Mike for the first top and Gillian for the second.richard6910/08/2023

Parking opposite Llannerch Cawr - Drygarn Fawr (use ATV track up Dalrhiw and towards Carreg yr Ast for the easiest route by far) - Gorllwyn - parking (slightly tedious descent by Llwydnant).Mark Jackson28/10/2022
Nuttall route on ascent and on to Drygarn Fawr, there's a decent track that leads from the summit of the latter down to the bridge over Nant Dyrys so followed that in descent.sebastiencale09/06/2022
Gorllwyn and Drygarn Fawr as per Nuttalls walk 11.3 with a varied descent to stay higher across the ridge rather than heading to the valley. Picked up an ATV track off Dalrhiw ridge leading down to the track at 890607.JulieB27/05/2022

From car park at end of Caban Coch reservoir, up track in Marchant valley, cutting up to the good miners' path at a slightly higher level and then easily off path to ridge near the small lake. Then East to Y Gamriw following boundary posts, back along ridge to Gorllwyn continuing further west to pick up the path/track back to start.dickscroop25/09/2021

Nuttall route 11.3, Drygarn Fawr & Gorllwyn.Jephcote8317/04/2019
Y Gamriw - Gorllwyn - Drygawn Fawr. Followed the high ground from Y Gamriw. Occasionally rough going but mostly OK with occasional faint paths. I suspect it's normally boggy but in a dry summer it was bone dry. Windy and bleak day with occasional showers bringing to an end a long period of drought.Herbert Anchovy28/07/2018
Hard going through deep powder snow from Drygarn Fawr. Guessing the area looked a lot more scenic than usual with the blue and grey sky and the green valleys and forests like oases in a vast desert of snow. Silhoutte of distant Pen y Fan looming above the cloud looked immense. Return via Marchnant. 5 hours.Wycombe Wanderer28/12/2017
Walked up from near Llannerch Cawr, up past the quarry then rough ground to the top. Went to the second cairn, carried on to Bwlch y Ddau Faen, then down Nant Paradwys back to the start Wet underfoot, some large bogs but the tussocks weren't so bad.Neolith25/10/2017
From Allt y Ddinas. Descended to the bwlch, then a long slog north-west up the Gurnos ridge to the summit. Onwards to Wennallt. Solo.Man of Kernow107/05/2017

ANOTHER FINE DAY BUT WITH A VERY STRONG EAST WIND. FOLLOWED NUTTALLS ROUTE 11.3 BUT FOUND A MUCH MORE DIRECT DESCENT BY RETURNING SOME WAY FROM DRYGARN FAWR AND FOLLOWING A GOOD TRACK N.E. STRAIGHT BACK TO THE START. UNINSPIRING ON THE TOPS BUT ELAN VALLEY LOVELY.BURGESS09/06/2015

Nuttall route 11.3, 5h 20m, with Penda. Overcast but not cold, slight drizzle. Four Red Kites circling top and calling as I approached!beorwulf27/09/2014
10 mile circuit, parked at car park north, followed the Marchnant brook up to Gorllwyn and just stumbled across the trig, walked across pathless terrain all the way to Drygarn Fawr and followed cart track from just north of the summit back down to the road. Great wilderness walk, we had no problem with bog either because it had been dry for so many days.DanTrig11/07/2014

Car park at Llanerch Cawr (SW end of Caban-coch Reservoir) – Across bridge and up track to old quarry – Up NW slopes to summit of Gorllwyn – Bwlch y Ddau Faen – Drygarn Fawr – Down N. slopes into Pant Glas (Blue green valley) – Followed valley down to car park. Progress on descent down the valley was slow – Long coarse grasses and bracken. Better to have gone back to Bwlch y Ddau Faen and down path/track on E. side of Nant Paradwys (JL)gerrybowes04/09/2013
