From Renwick: up the side road, track and path to the summit on the far side of the wall. 4.2 miles. Nice views, avoided the rain despite threatening cloudsLazylizzie13/08/2023
Parked in Renwick and up side road, track and path to the summit on the far side of the wall. On to Watch Hill and Black Fell.LizH08/08/2023
Parked in Renwick, straightforward ascent up road track and then path to trig and over wall to top. My last English Nuttall and Hewitt although this was not a 2000ft summit when I completed the Bridge list a long time ago. On to Watch hill.PeterD21/04/2023
6.1 mile afternoon walk from Renwick. Up easy ROW that shows to end at a tip before the summit, but actually carries on to the top. From here it is an easy walk along nice grassy trails and over a stile to Watch Hill summit. We followed the fence from Watch Hill down to the other higher dead end ROW which appears on the ground once past the disused level. This wet track continues to the Y junction with our ascending route. Back to Renwick. 513m ascent. This afternoon walk was a slight contrast to our morning walk on Conic Hill in the Trossachs. The walk started clear and sunny but windy although threatening clouds did appear when we were going between the two. Nothing happened though and we got down mostly dry. Well with the exception of my feet!DanTrig21/04/2023
From Renwick straight up Thack Moor then ridge then fence over Watch Hill but then messed up cut across and nearly reached Black Fell through the crap! Followed fence on west to Tom Smiths Stone then to Gray Nag. Came back on east side 15 minutes faster - take note. On to Black Hill then Hartside and down bridleway and back road to car.SS17/04/2023
With Tyneside Ramblers - up Clint Lane Track then down to Renwick, then onwards to Kirkoswald. 11 mile end to end.JulieB12/04/2023

Renwick to Thack Fell then Watch hill, Black Fell, Hartside Height, Hartside Cross, Fiends Fell and descent to Renwick via Twotop Hill & Fellgate. A dry cold day with hill fog & moor ground frozen.Vin07/02/2023
Thack Moor on track from Renwick then path all the way to the summit, easy going. then drove round to hairpin bend directly south of Black Fell summit. Not so straightforward, no path after initial track and in thick cloud. Not easy to find summit in the conditions.dickscroop06/07/2022
21.6 miles 2689ft walk. Black Fell, Watch Hill and Thackmoor from Ousby.stephenbuda06/07/2022

From Hartside Cross Pass to Black Fell via Hartside Height, along ridge to Grey Nag via Tom Smith's Stone. Return to Tom Smith, and across Croglin Water to Graystone Edge, Watch Hill and Thack Moor. Return to Hartside Cross via Black Fell.raymooremanx11/06/2022
A lovely walk in spring sunshine from Renwick and then following the ridge line to Black Fell and Hartside and mostly byways back.milimana08/05/2022
After having walked south from Cold Fell over tough pathless bog and heather, to walk on grass to Thack Moor was nothing short of delightful. Great views too! Day 2 of a 3 day backpack in the area.morgs4mountains22/03/2022
Climbed Black Fell, Tom Smith's, Grey Nag & Thack Moor from Hartside Summit on a clear but chilly day. Very wet underfoot, but easy walking otherwise. About 22km, with only 330m of ascent.oldbagger2722/11/2021
Parked on road in Renwick easily by junction and followed road then track then path moreorless directly uphill to trig. Summit is on other (n) side of wall, apparently, but all v level on rough grass. Lovely evening with wintry sun, moon rising and wispy clods forming in valley below. Back to Alston YH to cook pasta bolognaise for 20.Denise 13/11/2021
Levelish summit of rough pasture crossed by DSW. Trig pillar at fence/wall junction. We visit both sides of the wall but high point all a little vague.RichardM13/11/2021
From Hartside Pass, Black Fell, Tom Smith’s Stone, Grey Nag, Tom Smith’s Stone, Watch Hill, Thack Moor, Watch Hill, Black Fell, Hartside Pass. Not as bad as it could have been. Good path to Black Fell, then deteriorates through lurid green bogs and self-levelling lakes of black peat, until routes coalesce just S of Tom Smith’s Stone around the perimeter of a super massive green hole MEB, from which water does not escape even at the end of Summer. Otherwise, ATV tracks alongside many fences/walls, especially on W arm of the ‘Y’. Stiles over walls at Watch Hill. A handy ATV track crosses Croglin Water at the point where the valley suddenly narrows (about NY643456). High P – nice weather? – pah! Cold wind, low cloud and mizzle, drizzle, rain, all day - it’s a Bank Holiday!Isbjorn30/08/2021

Easy run up from Renwick with Hilary rain started as we reached the top.Fellhugger23/08/2020
Inserted into Nuttals Grey Nag - Black Fell. Contoured round from ridge before Black Fell, crossing headwaters of Croglin Water. Rough ground there suggests I should have left the ridge later. Returned straight to Black Fell and back as per Nuttals.IanHHill06/08/2020
From Renwick. Track followed by good path to the top.Peter_W_Mitchell 31/07/2020

From Watch Hill. Short grass a welcome change from the usual peat hags. Made swift progress, enjoying the view into a misty Vale of Eden. One of the nicer bits of Pennine walking. On to Tom Smith's Stone Top.Wycombe Wanderer20/01/2020
Final summit on the Renwick loop. Cold with wet feet due to bog water. Went home to a warm log fire and a Sunday roast!Sockpan20/10/2019

Train from Bradford to Lazonby station for walk with Alan P - a hot summer's day which took its toll especially with a fair amount of road walking. Up via Renwick to a well-defined top with excellent views all around. Certainly worth the effort.JOHNS06/07/2019
