English Nuttall Walk 3.1: Great Gable from Honister Pass. Visiting Honister Crag, Fleetwith Pike, Kirk Fell, Kirk Fell East Top, Great Gable, Green Gable, Base Brown, Brandreth, Grey Knotts. Parked the night on Wed 19th in Honister slate mines car park. As grim rainy forecast blowing in from noon-ish, hyper early start at 5.30.even at my slow pace reckoned is get round a triangle of Fleetwith Pike, Haystacks 'n Brandreth in about 6 hours. From Seatoller Fell. About twelve years ago I went on a tour of the slate mines and they told us they mine rather than quarry as it doesn't scar the landscape.
