5 of 5 parked at start of airstrip. Into the recycling yard there is a slight path in the left hand corner as you go in that goes round the back and folllows a track upto the summit | The-Z-Man | 23/03/2024 |
Parked S side off-road to N. Path and stream along field boundary. Then boulders, willow and bracken. Headed R, under the crags, up and to a col, from where summit easily reached. | Minto | 10/04/2022 |
Parked S side road, opposite a passing place (NR 3754 9344). Field boundary first, then a very steep and bracken/bramble covered route that involved some lovely scrambling up a grassy chimney in the NW face. On the return headed NE initially to circumvent the scramble. | jonglew | 11/09/2021 |
From Beinn Arnicil down to some boggy rough ground, though parts of the walk were more pleasant on grass and rock. Over two lower high points before reaching the northerly summit. Descended east towards the B8085, before crossing to the track for Carn na Faire Mor. | LizH | 17/05/2021 |

Parked at entrance to first field, views from B8086 from Scalasaig. One barbed wire fence to cross, steeply up to the higher N summit, slightly east following lines of least resistance to the elegant small cairn in the S summit, returning northwards through a dell ablaze with primroses.. | Nick Down1 | 20/04/2019 |
B8086 and B8085 from Scalasaig to about 400 metres south of junction, then through long grass, bracken, and heather to north top. Occasional faints paths but slow going. Sunny but stiff breeze. Hazy view of Jura, Islay, Oronsay, and lots of Atlantic. Down roughly north-westwards to B8086 east of Machrins. Steep with dense and very scratchy vegetation (slow and unpleasant, not recommended), then flat bog before mown field. Once on road, westwards for Dùn Gallain. | mainnirnamfiadh | 24/09/2018 |
First hill of the day, from a camp by Loch Staosnaig, quite a thrash from the track, through deep vegetation. I'd agree entirely with Dazingdale's height readings and the southern top is substantially lower. The link between the two was a thrash too. | Colin Crawford | 27/07/2018 |
6th tump of 8 on a 30.3km Oronsay and Colonsay completion route starting from the Backpackers lodge near Kiloran House and climbing Dun Gallain, Carn Spiris, Beinn Oronsay, Beinn Eibhne and Beinn Arnicil, heading Nne over another knoll, recording 80m @ NR 37523 92842, thinking this was the top but then continued to the true top recording 85m@ NR 37626 93169, unless this another top! Another tricky descent Sse the Se towards Cnoc an t-Samhla.... | Dazingdale | 10/05/2018 |
