Decent parking against hedge at bottom of reservoir access road at SE 12261 19828 - Up road past a mass of rhododendron & where they start to thin out, faint path up banking to compound fence - Around compound, crossing a fair bit of dead bracken, to high point against fence; this lies less than 10m SW of summit mound. | gerrybowes | 29/11/2023 |
From Cote Lane, up to stone stile then along field edge to trig point. Gap now has barbed wire to negotiate to get up to perimeter fence edge. | PeterD | 22/03/2022 |
Water works access road | Mark Sims | 22/10/2020 |
14 degrees, cloudless, 17 mph easterlies, from Slaithwaite with Miranda. An interesting exploration of the nooks and crannies of suburban Huddersfield, culminating in a surprisingly straightforward summit approach from the south west. Less interesting return via Outlane. | Wycombe Wanderer | 20/04/2020 |

Parked to the SE at bottom of reservoir access road (gates locked). SE122198. Highest ground outside compound probably to the West. | David Evans | 09/06/2019 |
Parked at the bottom of Cote Lane, then up lane to stone stile into the fields. Followed field edges to trig pillar then to water treatment works fence by artificial high point. Retraced steps to start. | briandavies | 07/04/2019 |
Easy parking in Pinfold Lane to the north (alt 212m). Footbridge across the M62 and turn right along a good path. After 200m look across the road at a gap in the trees. Through this gap a track starts leading upwards to the wall. Although boggy for the first 20m there are plenty of tufts to step on. Over the wall and the trig is visible. Across the field to the summit which is probably inside the compound. 1.35 km 30 mins or less. | moorsman | 05/10/2018 |
Managed to drive up to the gate of the water works and climbed the bank next to the Stalag like fence. Nobody around. Had to reverse down the access road as no turning point at gate. | Campbell Singer | 09/01/2018 |
1 of 5 today on tough New Year's Day bike ride including fixby ridge, old lindley moor, crow edge, worts hill, wholestone moor | The-Z-Man | 01/01/2018 |
Parked on farm lane to ENE. Field boundaries to trig pillar then to gap in fencing between mast and treatment plant compounds. Fenceline to near top of artificial mound. Did not attempt access to treatment plant compound as egress looked tricky. Mound almost certainly artificial anyway. | jonglew | 08/11/2017 |
Around field edges up to security fence, from Cote Lane | the_adam | 26/11/2016 |
1st of four hills today on a route from Lightridge Rd (Huddersfield station then bus 549 from Station street S3 stop)to Slaithwaite station..
I followed a road to the entrance to some woodland at Se139194 and then took the Kirklees way before branching off to walk along field edge to water treatment works. I climbed between fenceposts and walked around the substantial security fence and could find no way through the fence;it looks as though it has been upgraded. The summit lies within the compound. I used a beech tree to breach the defenses and dropped in and climbed to the top. Gps reading of 264m. Getting back was harder but fortunately an elder tree branch helped. I used track leading to some gated dwellings so diverted through rhododendron scrub and climbed over stone wall to reach the A643. I took the fp S over Grimescar road to meet the Kirklees way and stopped at the main road for coffee (Greggs) before continuing route to Old Lindley Moor. | Dazingdale | 19/11/2016 |
Parked at the bottom of Cote Lane, then up lane to stone stile into fields to bag trig and then between fences to get as near to the artificial high point as practical. This high point looks artificial and made at time of the building of the water treatment plant which it provides shelter for. | Dugswell2 | 02/04/2016 |

No access through arch. Defended by key pad entry. Ascent as Aye Jimmy. Amicable interception by farmer on tractor as I approached trig. Long conversation followed, with total incomprehension of Tumps & hill bagging on the part of the landowner. However, quite happy to allow me to proceed to trig. & through gap in fence to approach high point. Not much point in going through gap, as it only allows of 5 metres further progress to hp. Best to keep to field edges, as even grass is a crop, the farmer pointed out. | ngthack | 30/09/2015 |
From Cote Lane - wet feet through long grass to trig and top | Bramley | 01/09/2015 |
as Aye Jimmy, did this after doing Rishworth Moor & Turner Wood Hill this morning. | joseph mitchell | 05/06/2015 |
Parked 121195: Walked through arch and houses: gate at top into top field. | GordonAdshead | 29/10/2014 |
Small layby in Cote Lane to NE. Stone stile, along wall at edge of field until Fixby water treatment plant reached. Across in front of this to trig in next field, then along high security fence to W end of plant. Went through narrow gap where fences meet near comms mast to highest accessible point. Summit is grassy dome about 7m away inside compound, and about 1m higher. | Aye Jimmy | 19/04/2014 |
