The peak of Prenton Hill is possibly in the garden of a private residential property with no rights of public access. You are strongly urged not to trespass! | webmaster | blank |
It is a lovely postbox. As we scrambled up Pine Walks it appeared above the tarmac boulder field like a beacon of light or a bright red trig.. | TK | 27/02/2024 |
Walking round the Wirral and diverted at Rock Ferry to find the large houses of the rich on the hill. Settled for the postbox as closest. | PhilipChaston | 20/11/2023 |
Up and down from Rock Ferry Station - about 2.5 miles round trip. | Andrew Pearson | 24/07/2023 |
Parked at the summit. | justin_j_evans | 22/07/2023 |

Like most, Smudge and I settled for a visit to the Post box on the corner of Burrel and Pine.
The house with gardens containing the summit is up for sale - but who wants to live in Birkenhead? | chriswatson | 25/11/2022 |
Summit currently for sale. Here's your chance to own a Tump! | summitter | 25/11/2022 |
A whistlestop motorised tour of Wirral tumps with CW. | Smudge | 25/11/2022 |
Parked in Burrell Road and wandered around a bit. | PGCE | 24/11/2022 |
Parked van and walked around. Hp inside gated/walled grounds of The White House. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 24/04/2022 |
Easy parking near the top of Burrell Road. Walked up to the post box at junction with Pine Walks, turned left & along path for 40m or so before returning to car. As mentioned by others, the top end of Burrell Road appears to be the accessible high point. (S) | gerrybowes | 01/03/2022 |
As the train was passing through Rock Ferry I thought I may as well get off and walk the streets to this mighty peak. Looked like Tranmere Rovers were playing at home given the other pedestrians about. They lost 0-1 to Sutton Utd. | Minto | 13/11/2021 |
The powers that be at Hill Bagging have now established the correct summit location. However, as this is on private property, I am happy to accept that the nearest reachable location is a short distance up Burrel Road from its junction with Pine Walks. | moorsman | 05/03/2020 |
Undefined top somewhere on Pine Walks or Burrell Road. | Argentum66 | 12/02/2020 |
Prenton Hill, Caldy Hill, Gorse Hill | keithouk | 28/05/2019 |
Fortess Prenton. Top either in water tower grounds guarded by nasty metal spike fence or in adjacent gardens guarded by an angry letter to DB editor from owner. I,like others, settled for thejunction of Pine Walks and Burrell Road ( and front gates of Water Compound . Teasingly the 80m summit contour ring on Geograph just strays onto Pine Walks but on the ground this is clearly wrong as the road and pavement drop away from the junction mentioned. 3km way to the east at the foot of this hill another liquid is equally well protected from casual visitors at the Tranmere Oil Terminal which receives @140 ships a year bringing 9 million tonnes of oil to send down a 15 mile pipeline for processing at Stanlow. Currently chugging this way heading down the Irish Sea full of North Sea oil is the super tanker Spirit of Admunsen. Would the great explorer himself also have been beaten by the last 50 metres of Prenton Hill? | Chris Pearson | 29/03/2019 |
7/7 Wirrumping with Nwormgage. Actually a navigational nightmare at rush hour. Found Burrel Road and wondered around the seeming high points. I would probably not mind living up here, though West Kirby and Caldy were also nice. Wirral, and my first county - complete! Tumping by car. | tumpawumpa | 03/01/2019 |
Oh the pain of the 1 to 25000 gets worse, especially when competing with tumpawumpa's sat nav and my own (usually impeccable) sense of direction! January rush hour night tumping. I went to Tranmere's ground once and don't remember Prenton being anything like this. | nwormgage | 03/01/2019 |
I think the high point is in the garden of No.12 Burrell Road - approx. SJ 30976 85969 | carole engel | 17/11/2018 |
Went to postbox at junction, but felt hp was just down Burrell Road. | PeterD | 07/10/2018 |

I walked along the road to the post box, which seemed to be about the highest point. | Alancache | 24/04/2018 |
High point possibly junction of Burrell Rd and Pine Walks | David Evans | 21/01/2018 |
Early morning drive up to the nw. In a very salubrious area of the Wirrall. Adjacent to a huge water tower resembling a fortress. The top is probably in Burrell Road. | Campbell Singer | 26/11/2017 |
Burrell Rd, S side, as approaching junc with Pine Walks. Junc Tower/Reservoir Rds is lower. | jonglew | 07/10/2017 |
Need I have bothered getting out of the car? the high point looks to be in a private garden. very unsatisfying | Colin Crawford | 07/10/2017 |
At the road junction described by others, outside the fortress looking water compound. Wandered the high points, left disillusioned on 4/4 Wirral Tump tops. Drive me to Humping this would... | nordicstar | 22/07/2017 |
Final of the four Wirral hills today thus completing the county. I climbed Poll Hill and Caldy hill en-route from Heswall to Hoylake, then train to New Albion to climb Gorse hill and then two trains to get to Rock Ferry station. I walked up Pines Walk to the jct with Burrel road and it was clear that house on corner had a higher garden. I asked the owners of Brackenrigg on Pine walk to explore their highest point, which was in their front garden having also explored banking with Oak tree. I then went round to the Water Utilities gate to the highest accessible point. Finished at an Airbnb property in Tranmere. | Dazingdale | 29/04/2017 |

United Utilities' gates at junction of Tower Rd and Reservoir Rd are lower than overgrown garden leading up to tower from house in Tower Rd. However the highest accessible spot appears to be near the junction of Burrell Rd and Pine Walks to the SSE. | Aye Jimmy | 20/01/2016 |
At top of Reservoir Road. | arranc | 02/09/2015 |
Asked at house adjacent to water tower (where Vegibagger had asked). Spoke to owner's daughter who readily gave me permission to get to high point of garden. | Alan Caine | 11/01/2015 |
Reservoir road rises SE, Tower Road rises SW. at their meeting apex are the entrance gates to Prenton reservoir tower, a very impressive and architecturally intriguing building surrounded of course by spikey topped fencing. Broom Bank last large house on SE side of tower had sloping wooded garden right up to it. In the front of their house a man and woman were on their knees weeding. I chirpily asked them about this high point, explaining that I'd looked on internet for the high points of The Wirral and came to visit them all and see if there was access to their tops. | vegibagger | 20/07/2014 |
S side of Burrell Rd: adjacent garden approx same elev. Streetside | RHW | 16/12/2012 |
Prenton Hill Water Tower.
Prenton Hill, 81 metres, a P43, in locked water compound with disused water tower at junction of Tower Road and Reservoir Road.

I moved into a grotty bedsit at the bottom of Reservoir Road on this date in 1981. I must have soon walked past the high point on one of my local discover the neighbourhood walks. | Alan Moore | 30/08/1981 |
@webmaster @residents of no. 12, we didn't go in your garden, just as near to the summit as common decency allows! | nwormgage | blank |
