Walked to trig pillR | cjo | 12/01/2020 |
Easy short walk from gateway. Agree with others that hedgerow by the road looks as high as the trig. | milimana | 23/01/2019 |
Roadside verge parking. HP possibly at the trig pillar, or maybe hedgerow E side road. | jonglew | 19/11/2018 |

Cape Wrath here I come! | arranc | 28/04/2018 |
Almost a drive over. Parked on verge- no need to block gate, and OK after snow melt. Still some banks of snow on the wolds round Daventry- I chose these quick bags today to avoid too much wetness and mud, worked very well. 1440 hrs, rain setting in | pwheeler | 09/03/2018 |
Short walk into field from gateway. | rhalstead | 24/02/2018 |
Easy stroll from field gateway, with no worries about blocking access given the short time away | Colin Crawford | 09/01/2018 |
3rd hill of 10 on a Northants day trip from Nottingham with girlfriend as driver. WE visited Naseby Hill and Honey Hill before taking minor roads via Yelverton and Crick to this hill, parking right next to the field gate. I followed the field edge up to see Trig Pillar, recording 177m (SP 55572 67982) then across field to theoretical high point, recording 178m @ SP 55553 67897 then to edge of hedge next to road then through the holly hedge (176m @ SP 55549 67860)before walking back the short distance to the car....Onwards to Borough Hill.... | Dazingdale | 30/12/2017 |
Sunny morning. | Dugswell2 | 06/08/2017 |
Parked at entrance to field, short walk to trig. Field edge by hedge next to road seemed as high. | Aye Jimmy | 06/08/2017 |
To trig in hedge and middle of possibly higher field. The hill slopes down to the east to produce a shallow valley -famously known as the Watford Gap on the M1 (with its Service Station)-turns out there is small village close by called Watford which gives it the name and explains why its a long way north of the 'real' Watford just north of London. | Chris Pearson | 23/03/2017 |
From road to trig point in the hedge and then to HP in field not far from road. | PeterD | 03/11/2016 |
177 spot on road, trig and then in field level with road high point. Very flat. | chrisbien | 07/10/2016 |
Only just spotted trig buried in hedge | GordonAdshead | 10/07/2016 |
50 ms from open barrier along edge of field to TP. | Campbell Singer | 18/02/2016 |
Cycled over this hill on numerous occasions, but this the only time I have visited the summit. | JohnW | 14/11/2015 |
Visited trig and walked around other potential high spots in the field. It's one of those where, wherever you are, there always looks like there is a higher spot just over there. | clivevilla | 02/11/2015 |
Braunston to Daventry. Included Ashby St. Ledgers, a very picturesque village, in the itinery. | Smudge | 20/02/2015 |

A quick drive-by to bag this hill. The summit is in a field beside the minor road that links Barby and Welton. There is a crest on the road - 100 metres northwest of this crest is the entrance to the field, protected by a barrier. The trig column is a couple of dozen yards from the minor road. It is buried in the hedge so it's a bit hard to spot. The highest point appears to be near the centre of the field. | Skip | 25/10/2014 |
visited trig in hedge then to HP, in field but close to hedge by the road to SW of trig. | Adrian | 15/02/2014 |
