Logged Descriptions  (logged by 44 users)ByDate of Ascent
Late afternoon drive from London: Bunshill, Red Hill and Adwell Cop.Mark Jackson24/09/2022
Parked in Postcombe on lane near A40 junction and walked with friend Iain in 'mizzle', up to the hedgeline SE of summit. Walked edge of field to right of hedge which led directly to summit mound. Dropped steeply down to touch trig well below, then back via way of ascent in drier conditions to car and then drive to other side of Oxford to climb Wytham Hill.pdantic04/03/2022
Parked to east in field entrance. Easy up and down along edge of stubble field. Trig and summit.PGCE21/09/2020
Short walk across stubble from the roadside.milimana08/08/2020
Diverted to snag this on a 16 mile linear walk to link my house to the Oxfordshire Way. Up and back from the hearby road via the narrow field edge. Lots of stingers on the tumulus that is the summit - shame I was in shorts. Surprisingly good views from the top. Oddly the trig is hidden around the back of the mound.wheresthepath15/06/2020
21.1km run: Beacon Hill, Adwell Cop, and Bald Hill.maclrc08/03/2020
HP on distinct earth mound with tree with unusual exposed roots. Trig c 20 N of mound by track. Short walk from road to SE, where parked on grass verge. Muddy and murky.Denise 15/02/2020
From lane to SE, grassy field margin to summit mound and trig. Good views of the Ridgeway. As Campbell notes, interesting lattice of exposed tree roots.RichardM15/02/2020
By torchlight at about 7am. Across winter stubble to mound and trig.Herbert Anchovy22/01/2020
Short walk from the road below.DanMaisieBex09/08/2019
2nd top of 6 today on a detour from Stage 6 of the Ridgeway walk with Lesley. After an out and back to Bald Hill we headed over to Lewknor where Lesley waited imbibing her Earl Grey tea. I headed up the road and across to follow fiield boundary to the mound and tree. Surprisingly easy on a lovely September day. On my return i donated some money to Alzheimers and Lesley bought me a book on Asian mountain adventures. We headed back onto the Ridgeway but only a bit further as i headed for Beacon hill...Dazingdale26/09/2018
Parked at concrete lined access track near 127m spot height to ESE. Gate then tractor lines through stubble to wood, along edge of this to trig, then onto mound.Aye Jimmy09/09/2018
From gate to SE, like most- diversion off M40 as it was dry underfoot so gave a pleasant walk over ploughed stubble to very good viewpoint and tumulus HP with many Nettles.pwheeler29/08/2017
Parked in gateway to SE and walked across harvested field to the summit mound in the woods.clivevilla06/08/2017
Almost missed this one as I wrapped up the south of the county. Interesting summit above trig. Looks like an old barrow. Old tree with unusual exposed roots. Very easy hill approached from the south up field edge.Campbell Singer26/02/2017
Straightforward ascent from the south east. The trig point is below the summit, which is a prominent mound. Stick close to the hedge on the route as the mud in the arable fields is particularly glutinous.JohnW26/02/2017
Kingston Blount to Stokenchurch.Smudge28/12/2016
En route to Cheltenham with mum, quick detour of the motorway and five mins wander up girls from the east. Mum was grumpy at the detour, but quickly sought out and found a pub, England's Rose afterwards to get her a coffee.vegibagger19/10/2016
As Chris Pearson except I arrived by bike. Enjoyed this tiny hill especially as a brown hare was sheltering near to the toptrimarc216/11/2015
From Salt Lane up field edge, first to mound top and then trig point.PeterD16/11/2015
The mound on the summit is indeed man made, its a Bronze Age barrow latter reused as a windmill mound.Swindon Bagger17/09/2015
From Salt Lane. Parked in field entrance, followed field boundary to trig pillar, then to top of mound for HP. Maturing oil seed rape crop in fields either side of boundary; very mature thistles on boundary. Long trousers recommended at the moment!jonglew15/07/2015
Bronze age burial mound on top (mind the nettles) with the trig lower to one side. Easy approach up field edge track from lane.Chris Pearson25/04/2015
Parked on road to SE. Narrow path along the side of the arable field. Highest point is a mound at the end of the field - probably man made? Had a good wander around.destaylor11/04/2014
