From The Green. Obvious route. Bracken on top. | Play2End | 04/07/2021 |
KF Lovely wood to keep cool in on a lovely sunny day as we walked in from Alcester Town FC and the underpass near Oversley Hill Farm. Quiet only disturbed by birdsong and the Red Arrows performing at the Midlands Airshow over Ragley Hall to the west of the hill. Summit N of good track along ridgeline of the Wood but not clearly identifiable. | crazy | 05/06/2021 |
Parked at NE corner of deciduous wood, accessed from Trench Lane to N, passing underneath A road. Northern track then path along ridge. Short diversion to summit. Onwards to Alcock's Arbour. | PGCE | 27/12/2020 |
Roadside parking in Exhall (SP 1026 5524). RoW NNE to the 76m spot height, then E into woodland, a good track picked up after 75m. | jonglew | 17/09/2020 |
Parked at NE corner of deciduous wood, accessed from B road ( Trench Lane) to N, passing underneath A road, popular with locals. Approached from woodland track to N. Indistinct point in red -trunked Scots Pine with waist high (and wet) ferns | Denise | 18/06/2020 |
As others parked in Oversley Green by bridge. Easy if muddy walk across A46 and through wood to top. | Bramley | 09/03/2020 |
As others, from Oversley Green where there is good parking near the bridge. Wide forest rides and easy access, with plenty of trods through the dead bracken to the hp at this time of year. | milimana | 06/01/2020 |
With Wendy. Nice cafes in nearby Alcester. | ijpowell | 29/12/2019 |
2nd tump of 5 on a route from Wilmcote station to Henley-in-Arden, climbing Withycombe hill then under bridge to car park. I veered off to explore spot height then over to suggested top, wandering through from pine tree to pine tree in the high bracken. Lovely woodland. Descent to Alcester for a coffee break then the long traverse via the Monarchs way, en route to Lodge hill... | Dazingdale | 23/06/2019 |
Parked 50m North of bridge over A422. Used northerly track through woods. Clearing and track leads to summit area from kink. | GordonAdshead | 18/05/2019 |
Good path frm NW great blue bell display. Saw a slow worm on descent. | cjo | 29/04/2019 |
A replica of Richard M ascent route and bracken and bluebell report from 2 years ago to the week, hence the similarities of spring. Records claim that the wood was once bought by Thomas Cromwell, Henry VIII first minister / advisor, but was sold when his luck changed and he too was executed. | Chris Pearson | 28/03/2019 |
Last of seven in an afternoon. A walk in the woods, although too early for bluebells. | KC | 21/03/2019 |
Summit visited with Pete on a muddy visit ca. 2012/3, checked in 2017 when I knew about Tumps and I was in the wood in dry conditions. | pwheeler | 22/10/2017 |
Used foot-bridge over the A46 from Oversley Green. Picked the wrong day for doing the hills around here, accompanied by large numbers of runners/walkers on some sort of Arden/Heart of England 26 mile challenge. Fortunately they didn't go over the summit area - but met them all again on other TuMPs. | Aye Jimmy | 16/09/2017 |
Parked at start of drive to the NW and then proceeded as others. Bracken not so bad as I'd feared from other comments. | Herbert Anchovy | 31/07/2017 |
Parked just off A46 near foot bridge. Up Private drive and then FP to top. Final 20m through shoulder high bracken, fortunately not many brambles. | PeterD | 15/07/2017 |
Easy access on bridleway and woodland tracks from Oversley Green. Summit in stand of Scots Pines with Birch and Oak. Bracken dead this time of year and woodland carpeted in Bluebells, a few already in flower - first this year.
And again on:-
18-06-2020, this time with Denise from the hidden car park at SP1105,5672 (accessed from N along track) | RichardM | 21/03/2017 |
Parked in Oversley Green. Over footbridge crossing A46 and then up the not so private drive at the top of which is the fp to the wood. Turn left into wood then right after 50 ms and then left after 100ms up muddy path. More pleasant than I anticipated. HP in dense dead bracken. | Campbell Singer | 16/02/2017 |
Parked to NW. It is a little confusing as the Arden Way goes up a drive marked Private Drive. | clivevilla | 29/12/2016 |
Boxing day dog walk with Paddy from Alcester. | Lou | 26/12/2016 |
Early morning hike up from the north west. A new four of wear east path not marked on the1.25k takes you on an earlier zig zag than the 200m section immediately sooth of it that no longer exists. | vegibagger | 06/08/2016 |
Walked along a main path, then up grassy area to find a bench at the summit. Then walked along another path a little way to what looked like the highest spot. | Alancache | 07/01/2016 |
Found whilst walking the Heart of England Way from Henley to Bidford. Took a small diversion off the HoEW onto the Arden Way and then up the paths through the woods to the top. | Father Ted | 23/11/2014 |
