Good 6.5 mile walk with brother, Pete. From Chalton, road then up fp to windmill. Then descended S to New Barn and continued- about a mile on a quiet road- to Wick Hanger and then right along Chalton Down (Sussex border path) through the churchyard to the limited parking outside the Red Lion. Enjoyable route, much of it on the top of downs in arable countryside. Hot and sunny, we drank elderflower presse instead of our usual beer!pwheeler24/08/2019
Nice path from the Red Lion via the cemetery to Chalton Down. Then continued south-south west to Wick Farm and across to woodland path then minor road to New Barn Farm, allowing an approach to Windmill Hill from the south. Started chucking down from this point onwards, so we dried off by the fabulous open fire back in the Red Lion.summitter13/06/2019

First of 3 on a solo linear walk from Rowlands Castle to Petersfield. Glorious day, extensive views and easy navigation along Sussex Border Path. Village of Chalton at the foot of the hill well worth a visit - quintessentially South Downs.JOHNS05/05/2018
Grassy domed summit easily accessible on RsOW from Chalton via attractive church. Nearby tumulus is definitely lower. Downs shrouded in low cloud. Red Lion in Chalton is recommended.Denise 20/01/2018
The Red Lion in Chalton proved too much of a temptation. Weather still grey and misty when we left taking path through church yard - cut mark base of church tower - then S up field paths to summit.RichardM20/01/2018
3rd ascent. This time on a 10 mile run to the summit and back over 2.5 hrs with L from Winterbourne to the south during a long weekend looking after two playful and very inquisitive Burmese kittens. On the route came across poppy wreaths to airmen killed in downed aircraft here in WWII both British and German which was a nice touch to see .Chris Pearson02/12/2017

From Charlton ( we sat outside church watching beer barrels being delivered and deftly maneuvered down to pub cellar). A lovely cleared grassy avenue had been cut for the path up the hill through head high bright yellow oil seed rape. very photogenic / arty with colour contrast and blue sky. L took pics.Chris Pearson03/05/2015
Parking in council car park in Chalton, opp church. Lovely walk up on a good wide path through arable fields to a very peaceful grassy top; just the sounds of skylarks and a distant light aircraft, very dreamy.jonglew07/04/2015
