Ascended with Keeva, Seumas and Sarah. Nice to finally come over to this island after so many visits to Shetland. | assynt_bob | 06/08/2023 |
From car park across sand of the Tombolo clockwise circuit, over 53m spot height and on to Trig and HP near cliff edge. Visited remains of church on way back and was amused by fact St Ninian had never visited Shetland. | PeterD | 10/05/2023 |
From parking at HU375209, across the tombolo, delightful clockwise stroll around St Ninian's perimeter in fine weather, lunch at summit. With JAS. | kdbennett | 23/05/2022 |

Clockwise circuit of St Ninian's Isle over the tombolo. Delightful. | KeithByTheC | 02/07/2021 |
A gorgeous spring day with a warming S light breeze (finally after 100 days of seemingly near gales and northerly icy winds!), for a gorgeous walk with L around this magical smooth grassy 'island' above dramatic sheer cliffs dotted with pairs of wonderful fulmars on every ledge, nook and cranny. We came away with a decent haul of 'treasure' in the form of nicely frosted sea glass - picked from the sand on both edges the tombola -although not quite the treasure discovered by a school boy helping an archaeological dig in the old chapel in the 1950s finding a box of 28 pieces of silver Pictish jewellery. | Chris Pearson | 15/04/2021 |
With Douglas Law initially dry across the narrow tombola then gradually deteriorating weather, rain starting. | vegibagger | 02/06/2019 |
Trig and Tump summit in the rain with Charles.

27/05/2013 Visiting the lovely St Ninian's Isle with Tricky Spiers. Flown over the summit on the way to Fair Isle. Failed to get to trig as Tricky's abney level eye sight stated it was lower than P53 summit and we could not see the trig on the map without a magnifying glass. So must return to bag it properly. | Dugswell2 | 02/06/2019 |
Done as part of circuit of St Ninian's Isle. Spectacular cliffs and seabirds in their pairs on the ledges. Not too windy. With AP&J. 6.2km. | PiranhaFish | 29/04/2019 |
Lovely walk around the perimeter of the island. | jonglew | 27/08/2018 |
The fact a straight of sand connecting an island to the mainland is called a tomboys is very pleasing. Drizzly but still great cliff views. With trimarc2, r1 & GFE | Fionalevey | 06/08/2018 |
From Tombola. St Ninian's Isle is superb. With GE, Fiona and PB | trimarc2 | 06/08/2018 |
