Poor rock and rain. After a leader fall we abandoned. Kayaked from NW, Traigh Mhor car park, calm sea. On a high spring tide we kayaked thru the big sea cave W of the stack, highlight of the day. Pretty easy landing at SE corner of stack. | RHW | 09/05/2023 |
As RHW entry. Pleasant kayak from North Tolsta beach and easy landing on ledge on south side. It's then a rock climb to pinnacle at west end. However, rock very poor quality and after leader fall abandoned for this time .With Richard, Jon Rob and Dave . Also possible to walk along coast and swim short distance. | Denise | 09/05/2023 |
Stac 1, Climbers 0, Pleasant kayak from car park at NW end of Traigh Mhor. Easy landing on slabs on sheltered SE side of stac. Gentle angled slab to base of short steep wall. First attempted the wall on the right of the obvious corner but rock quite loose so investigated the more solid RH side of the wall. About 5m up wall a large rock block parted company with the face and I went with it. I think a runner took the worst of the fall before 'pinging'. I landed heavily on the rock slab and required evacuation by helicopter. Many thanks to the group I was with, all involved in my rescue and the care given by the staff of Western Isles Hospital. Approach with caution is my advice. | RichardM | 09/05/2023 |
Not ticked - looks a serious rock climb. NB prominence should equal elevation, with key col to NE at or below mean sea level, col to SW significantly lower. I studied both from kayak an hour below mid tide, and kayaked through its SW col a couple hours later having bagged its much easier parent stac | RHW | 24/05/2022 |
