Short rehab stroll with Richard from Freasley village on a sunny day. From Row by industrial estate, cross bw fence , ditch and follow informal path through new trees to grassy summit area with view of industrial estate. Then a sort thrash c 10 m through pampas, trees, brambles and nettles to HP per GR but all pretty level.Denise 03/06/2023
From gate near rail freight depot and next to a tarn with a life ring. A welcome oasis amidst the perfectly wretched transport hub. Lots of pampas grass.Wycombe Wanderer06/04/2023
For clarity, right at 3rd roundabout of estate. After bridge at left turn, the track through the double gates is separated from the summit by a DEEP ditch, only crosssable near gate. From next roundabout, ROW has vertiginous slopes to north. BUT 100 m north, a double gate (with parking) seems to lead to track direct to top of hill. Summit in open area.henryfm02/04/2023
In the gathering dusk. Parked to the SE in gateway (Sunday Evening) SP25086 99759. Went past the Bird House? on way to the summit.David Evans11/12/2022
Decided to stop off and bag this one on my way back from the Lickey Hills. Parked by metal gate at SP 25045 99545 and followed track steeply upwards as far as it went, then delved into thick reeds and trees in a vaguely northerly direction until I felt I was at the highest point. Seemed to be roughly in line with a large bird box mounted on a pole, which can be seen from the track. Thankfully the brambles were mostly avoidable, but I still managed to rip my down jacket on one, which I'd stupidly left on when I got out of the car.Wheelsy05/01/2022
Dordon to Atherstone. From ROW to SW over low fence & scrubby tiers to summit ridge adorned by tall reeds & patches of dense brambles.Smudge03/12/2021
Parked by gated track to SE. Easy track to summit plateau, then a bit of a thrash through tall vegetation (not too much bramble, thankfully).PGCE22/08/2021
No access problems. Parked off road by the gated track to the SE. Easy walk up to the summit. Solo.Dangerous Dave10/04/2021
Nice track up between roundabout 3 and 4. I think April is a good month to scale this hill. Lots of trees bursting into blossom leaf and plenty of wildlife around.Nicky C02/04/2021
Can park by double gates without blocking access (SP 2505 9955). Track leads up; at end of track can push through vegetation for some distance until an imposing bramble bank prevents further progress. It all seems flat on the top though.jonglew18/08/2020
Failed at this when I tried in 2017. This time I parked on the A5 and managed to find the little brown gate which is at the end of the armco barrier, and is the ROW through the allotments. Then to pond and over stream to left via a little log bridge and steeply up through thick vegetation. Success.Mark Sims02/10/2019
Track up from just before 4th roundabout to hilltop for a great viewpoint of a hive of activity below on a weekday -the growing giant distribution warehouses and Birmingham International Rail Freight Terminal. A perfect central transport hub in England with motorway, rail and airport close by. Containers were being lifted by giant cranes from the rail yard and attached to lorries for their end journeys. Maritime Transport claim to move more goods in UK than anyone else and are big here with their intermodal service ( rail then short lorry journey) claiming that rail movement of goods is the future with 97% on time delivery and reduced CO2 being good for enironmental credentials. The lower grass verges of the hill were having their own environmental care by grass cutting and weed spraying to keep the approach roads looking neat and spruce.Chris Pearson28/03/2019
Parked on roundabout at SP 2499 9951 and thru' field gate to track a few meters to the NEcarole engel17/03/2019
Still misty at 12:20 and didn't enjoy the ditch.Dugswell224/02/2019
3rd tump of 4 on an 18.3 mile route from Nuneaton to Tamworth station, climbing Mount Jud and Hartshill Pyramid then back onto the canal passing through Atherstone, veering off on B4116 and over A5 roundabout to take Fp heading West onto lane and track to Baddeslsey Ensor then footpath NW over field and into marshy terrain to reach Ind estate road. Used footpath alongside Permire Brook then road through estate N then West over the railway to then ascend up steeply loose intermittently vegetated slope, becoming grassy nearer the top. Area must be assigned for public use considering lack of fencing! Passed distinctive birdbox and entered tussocky grass area, wandering around on the flat summit before descending through immature plantings to pick up theoretical footpath leading to A5 (although no obvious sign of it on the ground). Heading for Pooley Country park...Dazingdale24/02/2019
Parked in front of a gate at the foot of the hill after turning right at one of the roundabouts in the industrial estate. Took the track up which ended as the ground began to level off. I have never previously encountered Phragmites on top of a hill before, the ground must be very compact with poor drainage. Fortunately it was fairly sparse and was not a serious obstacle. Descended via the owl box which was easier.Herbert Anchovy14/01/2019
Parked in the industrial estate by the fourth roundabout. Fortunately it was a Sunday. There is a nearby access track, which leads to high ground. Took a right fork near the top and headed for a birdbox on a pole. The ground here is grassy but above the box on the highest ground it is overgrown even in January.JohnW13/01/2019
From industrial estate, drive down road and park after 3 or 4 roundabout, up track to summit. The lower slopes are largly unvegetated higher up fll vegetation including reeds and owl boxes.cjo30/12/2018
Parked in Industrial Estate. Thick undergrowth on top with plenty of brambles and thistles. Luckily it was dry.Ramblingpaul17/07/2018
Spotted the gate into the allotments from the A5 and followed the path through and out the other side. Then over the stream and up.Alancache22/02/2018
From the trading estate to the NE - thanks for the 'tip' PeterD! Step across ditch and straight up the old mine tip with open bushes. Track past the large bird-box(?) on pole, round to the right to open ground, then left to the top. Flat top with lush vegetation at the moment.Aye Jimmy16/08/2017
From Freasley on little used public foot path past house (broken stile at LH corner of yard at end of drive) ENE along edge of fields of beans then through widely spaced barbed wire and onto N slope of hill. Dry ditch to cross then up through mixed woodland to the unexpectedly pleasant summit. Little visited, lots of flowers and great views. Recommended. And again :- 2023-06-03, with Denise while recovering from broken ribs etc. Much more vegetation on summit plateau than previous visit.RichardM14/08/2017
Parked on trading estate, past allotments, onto FP then into woods. Up through trees which when fully Grown will not give easy access. Flat open top.PeterD02/06/2017
As for ngthackarranc19/04/2017
As ngthack then down a bit more directly. The tees are, for the most part, well spaced and penetrable.clivevilla04/04/2017
Parked on new retail park early Sunday morning. Easy access from allotments to NE. Follow ROW and after pool jump the stream and up through new plantation to complete Warwickshire Tumps once again.Campbell Singer02/04/2017
From Freasley. Along RoW which starts up drive of Freasley Hall & over non existent stile. Along field margins to north of tip, over moat & up through saplings & conifers past CCTV to flattish top.ngthack10/03/2017
From W, Freasley, via RoW which goes down private driveway, path unsigned but stile still there. Summit level tussocky grass, spoil heap landscaped and mostly well vegetated, just a few bare patchesRHW19/02/2017
Accidental discovery, easy access from RoWs.Adrian29/11/2016
