Cwm Cywarch - Glasgwm - Pen y Brynfforchog - Y Gribin | JHes | 06/05/2023 |
10th and final summit on a 15 mile Aran walk from Llanuwchllyn to Brithdir. After an afternoon of clear skies, a big cloud front was building over the Aran tops and I didn't fancy being here if it thundered. A very speedy descent following a very steep fenceline. By the time I reached level ground my feet and legs were giving me some stick. I had a look at one of the cairns shown on the map, with a sheepfold built onto it. The ground here was very wet and difficult on tiring legs. I crawled to the bus stop at Brithdir to wait for the bus back to Barmouth. What a great day though. | thesweetcheat | 18/04/2023 |
Freezing cold! (Cf last entry!).

Seems to be a number of candidates for the summit. | BaggerGutt | 04/12/2022 |
Parked in the small car park by the A470 at Bwlch Oerwddrws (top of pass). One of the hottest days of the year, this was a real slog: Pen y Brynnfforchog, Pen y Brynnfforchog North Top, Glasgwm and Pen Ochr y Bwlch on the way down. Walked after abandoning a bigger walk in the Rhinogs. | Lazylizzie | 14/08/2022 |
Parked in the small car park by the A470 at Bwlch Oerwddrws (top of pass). First headed east up to bag Dewey Pen Ochr y Bwlch, then on to revisit the Nuttall Pen y Brynfforchog and its north top, which I missed previously. Then back to the pass for plenty of water. Then headed west over Cribin Fawr and on to revisit Craig Portas, along with a first visit to its East Top and Mynydd Dolgoed West Top, before returning to the pass. 16km with 1000m of ascent, taking 6h20m on a cloudless but very hot day, 31oC at the pass in the afternoon! | silveracorn_alan | 11/08/2022 |
2/4 Circuit of the Western Arans on a very hot day. As per Nuttall book except we worked our way round the forest in South South East direction to access the forest track more easily after Pen y Brynnfforchog. Added in Y Gribin at the end (should have done the Dewey too but just toooooo blooming hot!) | nickywood1 | 12/07/2022 |
From Glasgwym, onwards to the main top. | Minto | 30/05/2022 |

Parked at high point on A470. Pen Ochr y Bwlch, Pen y Brynfforchog, Pen y Brynfforchog N Top, Glasgwym. Easy going. | CJM | 18/09/2020 |
Parked in small car park in Cwm Cywarch. Beautiful day, very quiet. | Claireb | 08/08/2020 |
Nuttall's routes 8.1 and 8.3 combined plus a few extras - Pen-aran (at the end of the main ridge - a Bridge), Pen y Byn-fforchog North Top (a Bridge) and Y Gribin (a simm). 12 peaks - 29.93km - 5500 feet - took just under eleven hours (the GPS reckoned three hours were spent sitting on my backside!). Lovely sunny day until I got to Pen y Byn fforchog when the cloud descended and it began drizzling. Route through the forest was horrible. | Herbert Anchovy | 31/07/2020 |

From the main summit - even though it has been dry there were some impressive bogs between the two. | DanMaisieBex | 04/08/2019 |
Passed en route to Pen y Brynnfforchog from Glasgwm. If the ridge didn't do an abrupt right angle turn here, it would probably go entirely unnoticed. | Jake994 | 13/07/2019 |
The Bridge summit isn’t on a high point according to its height and given coordinates- the obvious rocky rib near the fence junction is some distance away.
Visited the non top as well as crossing the impersonator top. This visit recompleted all tops (including Un) in 30E. | stig_nest | 02/03/2019 |
After Pen Ochr y Bwlch. Did both possible tops. | clivevilla | 11/12/2018 |
