Logged Descriptions  (logged by 42 users)ByDate of Ascent
Walked up from car park (NY 513450)- easy; a lot of mountain bike tracks, views through thinned out forest. With Pete. Lots of mountain bike riders.pwheeler17/03/2024
Muddy paths today but still very pleasant. The summit area is a fine dome, open with surrounding tree coverColin Crawford19/11/2023
Reminded me of Surrey (!) with its pine trees and sandy hills -with lovely twisting paths. There is as seriously steep banked mountain bike track descending west from the summit. Also seriously steep is the excellent Armathwaite sandstone crag on the riverbank - popular with climbers where a gang us once spent a happy afternoon on a top rope tying to teeter up an extreme slab using miniscule holds, friction and hope.Chris Pearson24/10/2023
Path up through the woods from the CP.robertphillips08/09/2023
Short walk up from parking at 51357 45071. Mountain bikers with phones on their handlebars filming their rides. Why?clivevilla16/04/2023
Delightful Tump, roadside parking and path to the summit.Minto28/10/2022
Small dedicated, stoned parking area almost due east of the summit. Follow the track from the car park into the wood and turn right when reaching a clear north west/south east running path. An obvious summit with a distinct mound is a short distance ahead.moorsman04/08/2022
From parking at the top. Down to river and pub. Back over the top. With B, B and R.jenx03/01/2022
From carpark using the dense path network. A lot of birdlife in the wood which seems to have largely survived a recent devastating storm.fasgadh02/12/2021
Followed paths from parking place to the east. A bit disappointing as I expected the wood to be cleaner, but it is mainly conifer.JohnW25/05/2021
From bridge, out north on river. Then back over hill using road, bridleway and paths through the wood. With Band R.jenx11/03/2021
Nice circular walk from parking area at Coombshead. Longdales, down to river and back through snowy woods. With Bryher.jenx15/01/2021
Parked on the wide bridge at Armathwaite. Lovely circular route along the river and around the woods. Great sculpture in woods on main track. With Éire & Alfie.Dangerous Dave09/11/2020
Midday, 8 degrees, easterlies, showers, easy path to summit, with Bag For Life.Wycombe Wanderer24/09/2020
Quick walk up after Croglin Fell, we really enjoyed the late summer light through the trees on this one. Along by the River, then up the side of the first wall in woodland, then picked our way along and back down to lower tracks by heading south at first from summit. Any number of pleasant tracks down.nickywood119/09/2020
From parking area as described by others. May have done this hill before, climbed at Armathwaite Crag years ago, down to the W from here.Aye Jimmy18/09/2020
From parking area ESE of top. Very steep drop on the west side of the top.chrisbien18/07/2020
Delightful walking, best Cumbria Tump outside Lakes park boundary. Don't park where the dog walkers go from, instead at Armthwaite bridge over Eden river, follow the RoW upstream through lovely tree lined banks. When you pass into the woods follow the wall line ascending the hill directly, cross over another track, through a gap in wall the MTB tracks all the way to the summit. Area is criss-crossed by tracks, open woodland, birdsong. Continued easily to the dog walkers car park then on through Longdales hamlet then superb green lane down to the minor road, turn left and back to parking by bridge. Fabulous.nordicstar14/05/2020
Lovely woodland walking from Armathwaite. With R and B.jenx14/05/2020
In passing. Good off road parking at NY 5137 4505. Multitude of woodland tracks. Pleasant top approx 400m from road.jonglew15/04/2020
Bike ride from home to parking area (NY 5135 4507) then short walk on path through pleasant woodland. When 60m from summit turn left onto minor path that goes right over the top. There is a benchmark in the woods, but don't get too excited - it's one of the 'Eden Benchmark' sculptures - https://www.edenbenchmarks.org.uk/sculptures.htmlmae07/04/2020
